Thanks for having that doc up, it really helps tone down the confusion.

Anyways, sign me up for the Quick Fix GM list with my Defending Elysium game.

I'd like to GM either a QF or a MR, whichever needs more GMs. Game is The Aftermath of Elantris, which I put in the Game Creation thread.

EDIT: actually, put me on the QF list.

I would like to GM a long game and a QF.

Edit : Well actually, I would like to try out the new GB concept that was talked about in the game creation thread, for the QF. I have a concept for that, that might or might not work.

Once the current QF finishes, signups will go up. (Based on previous games, that'll be about a week or so.) LG23 signups should go up in a couple of days as well. :) Welcome!

On mobile, mentions are highlighted in black. What would people think about using mentions instead of red text to vote for players?

It might definitely be easier to see the votes like that, with the highlight they get, but I can see that getting very confusing and possibly abused very quickly. While it would give notifications to let you know you've been voted for.... would you really want a separate notification for every vote posted on you? Especially if they get retracted later on?. And how would we change the colors of retracted votes then? I think the redtext/greentext works a lot easier, and is much simpler. But that's just me. :P
Also, you can still mention people to give them a notification at the same time as voting for them, so it'd still be able to accomplish the same thing, without muddling anything else up.

Well, I guess that's one way to get my attention to a topic.... :P

The biggest problem I can see is that some people will want to mention someone to draw their attention to a comment but they don't want to vote for them. And, as Gamma mentioned, retracting would still require coloring.

One possibility is using the highlight feature we have now. Something like this: Joe and Joe. Though it makes it a little hard to read. Maybe bolded? JoeJoeThat has possibilities....

I can't do that on mobile. Still can't even change color without the BBCode.

Simplest solution I see is to just Bolden and Capitalise your vote. That should be possible for everyone, right?

Why not just keep the colored text?

Cause isn't your whole thing about how on mobile if the colours are kept it'll be impossible/hard to vote?

It's not like it's any different from before. It's just that I have no clue how to highlight text with BBCode so that doesn't let any of the mobile users vote. [ color] is pretty well known by now.

[highlight=green]Test[/highlight]

[hl=green]Test again[/color]

nope, neither works.

As someone who used the old mobile site a lot, entering everything manually by swiping in the BBCode wasn't that big of a deal. It's no different now. I believe the red and green text are clear and well understood. This isn't the only forum where I've seen that convention used either - it's just a really sensible way to do it. Background highlighting makes it harder to read, imo, unless you do something like this: [ Wilson ] and [ Stink ] (code below)

[b][background="ffcccc"][[color="cc2222"] Wilson [/color]][/background][/b]
[b][background="ccffcc"][[color="118833"] Stink [/color]][/background][/b]

(btw, the BBCode for highlights is "background")

EDIT: By the way, if you want to play around without posting, the "switch to raw code" button on the far left of the graphical toolbar has been replaced by a "Preview" button. The Preview is really useful for checking formatting without having to immediately edit after posting to fix any mistakes (though I do miss the raw code view which I can't seem to find now). Before, while there was a Preview feature, you couldn't access it in the "quick reply" box, you had to go to the "full" mode. This is much better.

Nothing is wrong with it. I just wanted to see people's thoughts on using @'s instead, since it's so easy to view. @The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe@The Only Joe

I just have the same concern Wilson does. What if I just want to grab an inactive's attention or just make sure someone sees my post? I don't want to actually vote for them, just call their attention.

That is a good argument, so I will submit to the Brightness Ascendant's ruling on the matter.

@The Only Joe @The Other Joe @ The Joe no one talks about.

I'm not sure if I should feel appreciated for all those votes or hated...

And thank you, Nyali. I was so close to figuring it out too! I spammed Maill's inbox with a PM where I went through all sorts of attempts, from hl to background-color and more. The mystery is solved.
