Anyhoo, you guys are misinterperting what I said. Bard wanted to know something, so I told them to play and gain omniscience. Two different things, not cause and effect. Two different commands. Because both would give Bard the answer.

Playing my game doesn't guarantee omniscience. That being said, it doesn't remove the possibility of my game granting omniscience. Just like all otherthings in my game, you'll have to PAFO. PAGO'ing is optional.

Hello, ‘ello, ‘ello.  My name’s Renoth, in case you wasn’t aware.  I’m sane, so… so we’re cool and all.  Y’know, probably.  That other guy, though, he’s crazy.  If you see ‘im, kill him for me, would ya?  It’s fer his own good.  I mean, he seems all nice an’ intellectual an’ all, but don’t listen to his lies.  He’ll hurt ya.  Kill ya, if it suits him.  Jus’… uh, believe me on this one.

Anyway, yes, I’m Renoth, an’ I enjoy the finer things in life.  Eating’s good.  Um… yeah, food’s nice.  An’ I ain’t against alcohol, either.  But I really like gettin’ sleep.  Sleep’s good fer ya, I hear.  Think they did some studies on that, probably.  Sleep makes a man less tired an’ angry.  I bet if... if he got a bit more sleep, he would be a bit nicer.  But let’s not talk about him… makes ‘im want to come out an’ cause trouble.  In fact…

Greetings.  I am glad to have rid myself of that… barbarian, once again.  His only wishes are to be inebriated all the time and kill others.  I honestly cannot believe that I am obliged to share a body with such a menace.

My name is Renoth.  I have spent a great deal of time studying the behaviors of other individuals, and believe that I may be of great service to King Iadon.  If, of course, I am provided sufficient funds in exchange for my services.  In addition to my behavioral studies, I also spent two years as a scholar in Svorden, studying economics and theology.  Hopefully, my studies will allow me to serve my lord dutifully.

Once again, I believe that my barbarian friend speaks for himself, but if you do encounter him, do not trust a word of what he says.  He has killed men before, I am certain of it, and will not hesitate to do so again.  That said, please ensure that you do not actually harm him in any severe way, as doing so will obviously harm me in the process.  And I certainly do not condone such actions.

- - - - -

Well, I am certainly not against an unlikely possibility of gaining omniscience, so I shall join this game, and what better way to do so than as a man with two personalities who each believe the other is a murderer. :P I'm frankly surprised nobody's thought of it already.

Esheo was a man doomed from birth. His parents had named him in a most unfortunate way. Gift of Death. Could there be a worse name to bestow upon your child as you bring him into the world? The first tragedy came moments after his naming. His father died, inexplicably, of a heart attack at Esheo's mother's side, leaving her a newly widowed mother. Esheo's mother died when he was eight. He lived on the streets of Kae, thieving for survival. Anyone he befriended died within a year of meeting him. Esheo was a curse.

Esheo ventured into Elantris before the Reod and had tried to enlist the help of an Elantrian scholar to discover why and how this tragic curse had been placed upon him. None believed him. Every beseeched-upon student told Esheo it was just a superstition. Except one. Shaorao, also name-cursed (though only with a rhyming name), was a smallish man. He believed in the name curse and the evidences Esheo brought to him cemented his belief. Words were power and Aons were more so than normal. Why shouldn't they carry power in names?

Studying others with strange names, they found that any girls names Naera had eyesight clearer than most. Those named Sheol never lived past thirty. Taons were always the first in lines. Shaorao and Esheo studied this phenomenon to their dismay. It seemed they were onto a discovery none had ever before seen, but there was no cure they found. How could one change their name? It seemed that the love and devotion parents felt in the moments after having their child summoned awe-inspiring amounts of the Dor that were shaped when the child was given a name.

Esheo now only desired to know what his name meant for his life? Was he to make a gift of his death or was he to be the gift of death?

You're welcome to stay longer. It'll be fun having you around!

Anelin read the letter one more time and breathed a sigh of relief. She had a place to stay, and a welcoming relative who didn't mind having houseguests (unlike some brothers who treated her like slime).

Anelin looked at her ledgers and did a few mental calculations. With housing taken care of, she had enough money to last the month, if she dipped into her emergency savings. But if Naara provided both food and housing, Anelin didn't have to use her emergency funds.

Anelin's stomach growled. She stood up and walked to the door of her room. "Naara," she called, "do you have any food?"

My business associates are dead, killed by the syndicate I sold them out to.

When Ashkelon first heard the news, he didn't react to it much. When he thought about it later, he reacted even less.

Sadness leads to pity, pity leads to generosity, generosity leads to tips and thieves.

Hmmm... You command me to gain omniscience. I'll put it on my to do list right after "put the bins out" and "grow a pair of wings"... :P

Why does omniscience have the word science in it if it's to do with seeing?

Omniscience is the state of being all-knowing. Both that and science are derived from the Latin word 'scire', meaning to know, apparently.

Well, I'm off for the next five days! Wish I'd been able to post that RP, but relatives around make it surprisingly hard to RP.

Try not to murder me heartlessly until after I get back, mmkay? :P

@The Only Joe I have a question about the legionnaire role. Their action is listed as day active/night passive, and the long description says that during the day they arrest a player for the next night cycle. However, in the order of actions, the Legionnaire's action is listed at the end of the night actions. Two questions:

  1. Is the Legionnaire's action done during the day cycle (like the description says) or the night cycle (like the action order says)?
  2. How long does the arrest action last?

The action order is when the player is actually arrested (because you need to know whether certain actions will be allowed through to/from that player), I believe. It's passive because you don't have to activate the ability other than contacting Joe in the day turn.

Ela:

The streets were cramped with merchant stalls. Saomi made her way through the crowd, shoving softly between the press of peddlers. She slinked to the shadows cast by the silently foreboding walls of the fallen city. Elantris had been a dream, once. Gods ruling kindly, healing and giving freely. Anyone in Arelon had the chance to become one. Hope had kept the street children cleaner and more honest than those anywhere else. But hope was an illusion. Elantris's had fallen away now and the brutality of reality was sinking in. When men ruled, there was always corruption. Iadon was no better than most.

Saomi crept towards the walls of hell. When she arrived at her lean-to, she counted her earnings for the day. One pearl bracelet, three daggers, two oranges, and twelve scraps of bread. Enough for one day. That was all that mattered. Today. Tomorrow might never come for those living on the streets, so Saomi had learned long ago to stop worrying about the future. When Kairan had been taken, she had narrowed her focus to the now. If she thought of yesterday, grief would overcome her. If she thought of tomorrow, panic would. Today was it. Today, today, today. Eat, steal, survive.

I decided I'd do some RP for my original character, since she's not as comical as Esheo.

Yeah life's been ridiculously busy as of late. I'm really glad to be back (and sad to hear that you'll be leaving). Hopefully Joe will see my sign-up sometime in the next five hours.

“Naara,”
Oh. Someone was calling her name. Huh. That generally means someone wants to talk to me. How pleasant!
“Do you have any food?”
Food? Why does she want to know that? It won't be time to eat for at least another hour and 3/19ths so she couldn't possibly be wanting to eat now. Ah. She must be curious to know the inventory. She’s a number person after all. “Just a minute!” Naara called out. She rummaged through some papers to find her inventory of food and then walked up to Anelin. “Alright, so the food i have… I have 2 sacks of flour, and” she began to read out the list of food she owned, stating the exact quantity, weight and age of each product. She refused to be interrupted until she had finished reading out her inventory of food. “And that is all. Unless you like eating fabric or paper or something strange like that. I can tell you the amounts of that too if you’d like? :)”

Apologies. The original draft of this game was a QF, some things were messed up in the transition. During the day, The legionnaire sends in the arrest order during the day, and at the beginning of the night, the player is informed they have been arrested and are sent to a doc. They will be released from the doc at the start of the next day, after all night actions have happened.

Weeeeeeeeeeell, I'm not totally sure, but I thiiiiiink I'll have enough internet access to be around where I won't be completely useless(and because I really want to play), so, I'll sign up. :D

I'll just play as Lopen, since I don't think I'll have the time to do any RP.

I'm very happy to see you've returned, Em. I remember you being in the first game I ever played, but that real life circumstances forced you to bow out relatively early. I truly hope everything turned out okay for you and your family.

Ahahah, I had a feeling you'd join last minute. Now I'll definitely have to bring my A-Game if I end up an eliminator again, since you always seem to be on to me, for one reason or another.

Apparently we both know each other too well. :P

I couldn't resist signing up, haha. This game sounds like a lot of fun(probably >>), it's Mailliw's last game, and there's quite a few players that I haven't played with that signed up too.

Karma: when you sign up everyone else has to bring their A-Game.

I didn't realize this was Mailliw's last game. I'll sign up then. Haven't had any good ideas for RP in a while, so any suggestions would be nice.

I also am looking forward to facing some new players (assuming that I don't get lynched for crazy conspiracy allegations first).

I know I prefer villains, but what about a mostly-reformed con artist that hasn't quite gotten over his kleptomania?

Well, I'd argue your knowledge is infinitely more useful than mine, since I've never even been close to catching an evil!Lopen, yet -_-

Agreed. Even though I've already resigned myself to being borderline useless this game due to all of the hidden mechanics, I do believe this game will be a ton of fun.

Shhh, you're only perpetuating the fear by making comments like that :P I'm harmless, I swear.
