Renegade he/him Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 The Day is over! Write-up in an hour or so.
Renegade he/him Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 (edited) Night 1: First Blood Venture, Lekal, Penrod, and Cett each had their own reasons for attempting to ascend to the throne, but the common thread amongst them was this: they all believed Elend to be a weak ruler, capable of easily being bullied into submission. Elend, of course, stood steadfast against the might of the four men’s armies, but we knew that we had no chance against the might of their combined assaults. Our only hope was to get them to turn on each other first. “We shall invite them… to a ball,” Elend declared, punctuating the sentence with a grin. “A… a ball, Lord Elend?” Dockson asked incredulously, furrowing his brow. “You have completely lost your mind. The high-ranking members of these opposing factions… who are trying to take over this very city, are not going to come to a party.” “There will be food, and they’re all nobility at heart,” Elend smiled. “Of course they’ll come, Dox.” “Bah,” Dockson waved a hand dismissively. “Foolish. You invite them to a ball, and they’ll all be plotting against you. The whole place will burn down to the ground.” “Then we simply let them burn with it.” “What you’re doing will only enrage the factions!” Dockson paced the emperor’s room, exasperated. “Do you even realize the dangers that come with this?” “And do you realize the dangers that come if we don’t?” Elend frowned at Dockson. “If we can’t get them to turn on each other, then we’ll have four fully-armed battalions on our doorstep, with extra koloss that will gladly tear this city apart.” Dockson sighed a long sigh for a good five seconds, then threw up his hands in despair. “Fine, whatever. Just… be careful with this.” Elend nodded, putting a hand to his forehead. “I will.” With that, he turned around in his chair to begin writing out invitations. This would be… interesting. - - - - - Shady slinked through the shadows of the ballroom. He wasn’t even sure how there were shadows in a ballroom as brightly lit as the one he was in, but that would be a question for later. Right now, he was on a mission: Penrod’s men needed more money to supply their newly formed army, and he’d have to pickpocket these nobles to get what they needed. He needed something expensive, something… A large golden pocketwatch dangled from the pocket of a large, bearded man sitting at a nearby table. Seriously. Who even made golden pocketwatches? What advantage could someone possibly derive from a golden pocketwatch? The nobility was rather odd. But who was Shady to judge? Just meant more things for him to swipe. Shady slowly zigzagged his way across the ballroom to the man’s side. He put his foot on the man’s shoelace, discretely causing it to unravel. “Excuse me sir,” Shady said, putting a bit of a charming eastern dominance dialect into his speech. “But it would appear that your shoe is untied. May I suggest that you endeavor to rectify this embarrassing situation?” “Oh, dear,” the bearded man said, his face flushing. “I shall do so most expeditiously. My apologies.” The man turned to the side, and Shady smiled, beginning to reach out towards the man’s pocket. Then, the man clapped his hands, and turned to a nearby terrisman. “Ah, kind Fendwyr, you terribly mind tying my unwoven shoestrings?” The terris steward nodded and knelt down, beginning to tie the man’s shoestrings. The man turned back to Shady, who quickly retracted his arm. “My most sincere apologies again, my good man. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.” “Erm, no problem.” “May I ask what you were just reaching out towards, my good man?” the man asked, cocking his head and stroking his beard. Then his eyes lit up and he brought the pocketwatch fully out from his pocket. Shady unconsciously took a step back, eyes widening. “Ah, this little trinket,” the man chuckled. He then swung the pocketwatch around his finger. “I’m afraid it’s not real gold. Simply painted wood, meant to fool thieves such as yourself.” “I…” “You work for the fool Ferson Penrod, correct?” Shady grimaced, nodding. “Knew it. The poor man thinks he can start his own army, and carve out a slice of Elend’s fool empire. Not likely.” The man stood up, slamming the fake pocketwatch onto the tablecloth. The terris steward at his feet jumped, startled, then continued tying his shoe. “Attention!” the man shouted, and the entirety of the ballroom turned to him. “I have found a dirty little thief amongst our midst! This man,” the man pointed directly at Shady, and Shady cringed, “has attempted to steal my golden pocketwatch, only to try to sell it and give old man Penrod a few boxings!” Murmurs filled the ballroom. The bearded man continued. “I believe that this man--” A coin flew out from an upper catwalk, striking Shady directly in the chest. Pewter! Shady gasped, instinctively grasping at his belt. Where’s my pewter? Shady gasped, looking about frantically before collapsing on his side. As his vision became blurred and darkened, he saw the bearded man analyzing a vial of pewter. His vial of pewter. - - - - - Shady (Paranoid King) was lynched! He was an unspiked Thug from the Penrod faction! Arraenae Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 (edited) 2 hours ago, Amanuensis said: Interesting how I was involved in both these changes You're a popular person, Amanuensis. EDIT: Ri slipped outside the house with a Tellé mistcloak wrapped tightly around her shoulders. The tassels fluttered behind her as she walked, almost like the mists themselves. Ri wasn’t a Mistborn, but it was warm, and made people leave her alone. She didn’t want to deal with people on this walk. A few skaa sweeping ash drew back from Ri as she passed. She gave them a contemptuous glance and moved on. The mistcloak gave her an aura of power that she normally didn’t want (few clients liked an informant more powerful than them), but it got the skaa out of her way, which was rare now. The Venture boy should have given these skaa fewer “rights”, she thought. Getting them under control will be much harder now. “Hey! Hey, you. What are you doing with the Survivor’s cloak?” One skaa stood in front of her with one hand on his pitchfork, one hand on his hips. He wore a tattered vest and trousers, just like the other skaa, but had something around his neck. It was a necklace, with a rough metal… spear as a pendant? “I don’t know who you’re talking about. Now get out of my way,” Ri said. She tried to push past the skaa, but found the prongs of the pitchfork jabbed into her gut. She looked up and saw another grim-looking skaa in her path. Ri huffed in anger. How dare these skaa accuse her of petty theft! She grabbed a tassel and shoved it into the skaas’ faces. “This is mine. MINE! Do you understand the concept? My House MAKES mistcloaks like these. Whatever your survivor wore probably came from us. Now let me MOVE.” One skaa, a female with a scar through her mouth, took the proffered tassel and inspected it. “I think she’s telling the truth.” Ri snatched the tassel back. “Yes! In the name of the Lord Ruler, get OUT OF MY WAY.” “The Lord Ruler is dead. The Heir of the Survivor killed him,” Pitchfork skaa said. “Who is the survivor?” she asked. The heir had to be Vin, Elend’s Mistborn mistress. Somehow, she was connected to the skaa’s survivor person. A moment later, Ri’s mind caught up to her mouth. Skaa had only a bare semblance of intelligence, punishment for defying the Lord Ruler in the past. Asking skaa for information was like asking a dog what Elend Venture was doing -- utterly useless and nonsensical. Stupid informant habits, she thought. I shouldn’t have asked that. Unfortunately, there was no way to take the question back. Pitchfork skaa’s set the pitchfork on the ground, point-down. “The Survivor was… it’s hard to explain.” He fingered the spear pendant of his necklace. Strangely, he seemed to have forgotten all about his accusations of theft. “He escaped the Pits of Hathsin. He could fly, and fling a man around without touching him, and had inhuman strength.” “He taught us how to oppose the Lord Ruler,” Scar skaa said. “To depose nobles like you.” Pitchfork skaa elbowed Scar skaa. “Come on, she can’t be that bad. Let’s go to the next sermon. It’s at Ahlstrom Square. You can learn about the Survivor there.” Ri opened her mouth to refuse, then hesitated. Last time, she’d ignored rumors of a skaa uprising because they were about skaa. She couldn’t make the same mistake again. “Sure,” she said, trying to keep the distain out of her voice. “Lead the way.” Edited July 1, 2016 by Arraenae Adding in RP 4

Anyway, I'd like to discuss the pro's and cons of Koloss with regards to the inquisitor. There are three things a faction can do with them, Bunkering (Keeping them all on Defense) Beserking (Sending them all out) or Battling. (Keeping some on defense, sending others to attack.) I've been trying to think of which of the three I would do as a Spiked, and I've decided that, if there were spiked in two different factions, they would probably try to get their respective factions to Beserk against a third faction, to maximize death in that faction, while hopefully letting the other two factions attack them, since they have a 6/7 or a 5/6 chance of survival. Bunkering doesn't really help the Spiked, other than remove the 1 in 6 or chance of their death via random Koloss, and Battling runs the risk of just weakening Koloss numbers, and not a faction. Also, if any Tineyes would like to set up PM's with me, I would happily trade info with your faction. (Of course, any info I give you will be true, but approved by my faction for me to release to your faction.) 2

I actually had a very similar thought recently. Pay attention to any player that tries to push for your House attacking a specific faction. Make sure that every player has a say in which faction you attack, if you attack at all, and how many koloss you commit to that attack. Unless a Tineye uses a PM to coordinate attacks, any two factions attacking a single one will more likely be due to Spiked influence rather than pure chance, otherwise. Young Bard he/him Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 OK. I was going to put extensive analysis here, but I can't actually work out that much just from the Day 1 lynch. The last minute bandwagon on PK. Now, there were enough votes that more than one faction probably moved to bandwagon against him. I'm inclined to think Maill's faction and Kipper's faction both bandwagoned onto PK at the last minute. The other interesting thing is the two Soothings. The PK -> Aman one probably came from Penrod, for obvious reasons. The Aman -> Kipper one I suspect came from Maill's house who probably wasn't online for rollover, as Kipper was one of the 3 leading candidates a few hours before rollover. I doubt that Penrod has two Soothers, and it was probably an attempt to save one of the two other candidates from the lynch. This was originally going to be a lot more in-depth, but I was trying to work on about a dozen things at once, which didn't work out well for me. I'll be on before rollover, and can hopefully get more analysis done then.
STINK he/him Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Hi. Haven't been able to read that many posts that were made after I said Elb was taking after Wilson, cause the wifi here is absolutely horrible. Sorry everyone, but I probably won't be able to do much at all.
jaimeleecee she/her Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Wow. Just caught up on the D1 lynch, that was seriously chaotic >.> Although I completely understand what Aman was trying to achieve by doing that, I feel like it was hard to tell if people were switching because they wanted to save someone or to genuinely just keep it at a tie because that is what Aman was pushing for. I have yet to actually do any analysis because I had so much reading to do just to catch up, and it was so confusing to follow all those votes and retractions . My activity will be unpredictable this weekend (as it kind of already has been), due to the holiday and having friends and family in town. I should be around most of today (Friday), half of Saturday, very unpredictable Sunday and Monday and then back full force Tuesday!
Arraenae Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I won't be on for most of this Night. Will be able to check doc in about one hour, but will be sporadic. Please bold orders for me.

Young Bard he/him Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Oh! For some reason, I thought the Night was 24 hours, not close to 48. And yes, the day one lynch was a lot more revealing than usual, IMO. Usually people have nothing to go off and just vote off an inactive or something, but with the faction games, people are trying to protect people from their guilds. So yes, it was chaotic, but it was usefully chaotic. Once you sort through the mess, you've learned a lot.
Elbereth she/her Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Sorry for not posting yet this cycle. It’s been a busy couple of days. Don’t have much time now, either, so I’ll make this short. Aman - may respond in more detail later, but yeah, you’re fine. You’d mostly gotten what I was saying by the time I said it, but I wanted to put it out there anyway. It just sounded a bit like you were trying to dictate in your first couple of posts, but you got a lot better. I’m going with Maill on the Chaotic definition, though. The point isn’t doing things without thoughts for the consequences or without having reason for doing it. The point is that everyone else thinks you have no reason for it. I think. I guess it’s not very clearly defined. Rae - Um, I haven’t really thought about it? Sandhya’s going to be dressing in muted colors from now on given that she’s in mourning. Say, brown hair, brown eyes, medium height, pretty? Not sure what you’re looking for. Why do you want to know what Thanata looks like, though? Given that she’s dead. And sorry for not RPing her at the ball already. I’ve been busy. I’ll probably post more substantially in a few hours when I get home, but for now that’s all I have time for.
Amanuensis he/him Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 (edited) So, it’s Night and everyone’s silent. Personally I’m not a fan of silence, so I have a proposal to hopefully spark some discussion. As we all know, PK was a Thug in service of Penrod. Given that PK is a player unlikely to be attacked by either the Spiked or Coinshots early on, I’m willing to bet that his House strategized around him burning his metal rather than flaring it, allowing them to purchase one less koloss for defense in favor of an extra kandra for information. If I’m right about this, that means that they are the most vulnerable right now; and that their vulnerability won’t last long. As it stands my House has zero intention of attacking anyone; keeping our Housemates alive, at the moment, is a much higher priority than risking all of our koloss to maybe kill someone. But, if we can enlist the help of the other Houses in this, we can all ensure that Penrod loses another player without any of us committing all of our resources to accomplish it. I doubt Penrod has more than 4 koloss. If each House sends 2 of their koloss to attack them, it will guarantee another player of theirs dies, while only one of our three Houses will lose more than a single koloss, based on pure chance (about 33% that you'll be the one to lose 2). In my opinion those are pretty fair odds, fair enough that I’m willing to discuss it openly. We all know that Penrod has at most 6 players right now, 5 if they were the unfortunate faction to start with one less member than the rest. If we do this, they are guaranteed to have 5, if not 4. By reducing their numbers now, that means the maximum amount of boxings they can earn this following day turn is 5 (from votes) as opposed to 6. Though that may not seem like much now, as the cycles go on, they might get left behind rather quick. In the long term this benefits every other faction. Additionally, the chance of Penrod having a Spiked among them at the time of presenting this post is approximately 50%. If there is a Spiked among them, there’s a ~17%-20% chance that the Spiked will die. In the unlikely odds that does occur, we will have a good basis of discussion at the start of the next turn; if it doesn’t, I’m sure just the very fact that I suggested this plan will get people talking. Thoughts, everyone? Edited July 2, 2016 by Amanuensis
