Quiver he/him Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Guys. GUYS. There is a colour in the Snyderverse besides GREY. I'm stunned. (Basically, they have released a solo poster for the Wonder Woman movie. I'm stll considering my thoughts on it... but, if nothing else, there is brightness, and colour, and guys, Galo Gadot had minimum screen time in Batman v Superman, but Wonder Woman was awesome and so was her theme music, and I'm kind of excited for this film.) 2

I've seen some discussion on Tor about whether or not the poster is sexualising her (seeing as how they've cut her face off). Upon reflection, I think that COULD be a way to look at it, but... But it's not how I read it. I think the important thing is that, for a lot of people, this might be their first exposure to Wonder Woman as a character. As I've mentioend before, at rambley length, there are works where she's featured, but they've been wildly disperate; the calm diplomat of the Lynda Carter show is different from the fish out of water of the Justice League cartoon, is different from the boisterous Bruiser of the Justice League: War movie. More importantly, though, there were a lot of questions about the character in Batman v Superman; in fact, those were THE unanswered questions of the film, by Batman himself. "Who are you? Where did you come from? Where have you been?" Even Diana's eventual answer - that she "left the world" a hundred years ago - is a non answer, and tells us absolutely nothing we didn't already know throughout the course of this film. So, basically, this movie? It could be subtitled "Who is Diana Prince", and I think that's the way they are going with it. Interviews with Gal Gadot seem to suggest the film is a coming of age tale. I think the poster maybe reflects that; they emphasise the accessories of Wonder Woman's character - the costume, of course, but also the sword and the lasso- but the character herself (ie, her face) is still hidden since the audience doesn't know who she is yet, either. So it focuses on the iconic stuff, the things that everyone will recognise, while drawing attention tot he fact that Diana's character ad personality is, currently, something of a mystery that the film will address. ...On the other hand, I might be giving Marketing too much credit. But at least it's not another case of a female character looking over her shoulder at the audience, like the Hawkeye Initative? 1

If Bruce did that on his own, I'd be extremely impressed. And I'd make him a YouTube star.

Good old black comedy my friend. Seeing how dark they made a Superman movie, I think everyone involved in the Murderverse would drive themselves insane trying to play villains just as dark. I've seen darkness, I don't think they can handle it. Here's the thing, despite self-promoting myself as the comic authority here, I'm really not. I don't have much more knowledge of Wonder Woman books than most people; I've read scattered runs here and there, but she's never gotten the push she needs from DC. She's held up as an improtant character - the first female superheroine, the third part of the Trinity- but DC... Wonder Woman does not get the same respect from the creator's at Warner Brothers as the other characters do. Granted, no one gets as much respect as Batman; look at how many games and movies he's gotten! And Wonder Woman, with a movie coming out next year, has nothing so far? Yeah, I'm hoping this film raises her profile. In the meantime, I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend her animated movie from a few years ago. It was pretty good, and likely to hit a lot of the same points as this upcoming film. Also, DC announced more animated films for other properties, and I am SO PSYCHED. JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK.
