Do the annotations say anything about Felt?

To my surprise they actually do in the Hero of Ages annotations, though nothing really that seems to be any obvious info on him being a worldhopper:

Felt

Oh, and Felt gets a mention here. I don’t know if you remember him from book one, but he was the spy who Elend sent to tail Vin one night and figure out who she truly was. He was loyal to house Venture, and Elend inherited Felt from his father when Straff fled Luthadel and left behind most of his servants and men.

A third son of a very minor nobleman, Felt is used to working for a living—something that does happen to a lot of nobility in this world, even if the ones you see most of the time are either too busy ruling, stealing, or going to war to bother with things like that.

Incidentally, I found a line referencing Stormlight Archives in the same annotation, which is probably not related to Felt, but I found it amusing nonetheless:

I’m saving up the “guilt from assassinating so many people” character conflict for a different book sometime.

Lightweaving ;)

I don't think TenSoon was Straff Venture's Kandra, IIRC Zane was his master implying that Zane hired him with the Atium he received from Straff

Yeah my thoughts were "But people who know the Kings Wit would recog- ohh. Yeah. Lightweaving".

But don't we have a WOB that says Hoid didn't take part in the events in Mistborn? He was distracted by something in the North? Not sure if I'm remembering correctly.

But Felt being a worldhopper is awesome. I totally didn't believe it was true when it was first brought to light. Whoever spotted it is a boss.

We have a WoB that the kandra worldhopper is female and we are unlikely to have seen her in a male form.

Do you have a quote for that? I knew there was a worldhopper Kandra, but had not heard it was female before. Do we know if it's still alive? A certain one from SoS comes to mind....

Melaan might be the kandra worldhopper.  We do not know.  There is a quote for that...

NEWAN
Is the kandra worldhopper MeLaan?
BRANDON SANDERSON (PARAPHRASED)

Good question. *gives Newan a RAFO card* In upcoming Mistborn books, you are going to get to know a lot more of the kandra, so you will have a lot more options.

NEWAN

Ooh. When the kandra worldhopper is off-world, er off-Scadrial, does she take the form of a human female?

BRANDON SANDERSON (PARAPHRASED)

Not all of the time.

NEWAN

Has she spoken a word of dialogue in a non-Mistborn book?

BRANDON SANDERSON (PARAPHRASED)

I can't remember.

Also note that here, Brandon does not reject the idea that the Kandra worldhopper is female.  It is even implied. However, I cannot find a WoB stating that it certainly is.  Only the Terris worldhopper is definitely female.  Also, there might be more than one Kandra worldhopper.

Felts background must be fake here, because he is on Roshar, right?  And SA 5 is placed more than 300 years before Wax and Wayne? So therefore, to be there, this background must be fake/false/wrong.

SA5 is roughly concurrent with Wax and Wayne. The original Mistborn trilogy was 300 years before Stormlight. Considering we've seen Demoux, one of Felt's contemporaries, show up in Stormlight as well, I don't think there's any issues with that backstory being true.

I can't imagine Brandon would make up a fake backstory for an annotation; if he's straight-up lying to us here, then what's the dependability of any annotation or WoB?

Didn't realize it was an annotation.  :P

I believe W&W takes place somewhere between SA5 and SA6, which is only a span of a 10-15 years or so.

Edit: ninja'd :(

For the record I suggested Hoid=Felt as a joke thinking it was too crazy to be real, but apparently that was the exact right amount of crazy for this forum?

Anyway, Hoid was hanging out with the Terris refugees during Well of Ascension (originally because he didn't know where the Well was, that's been retconned but I don't remember to what), and in Fadrex City during Hero of Ages. Felt was definitely hanging around in Luthadel during Well of Ascension though, so he can't be Hoid. .

From the JordanCon thread, how far apart is not set in stone yet. 5 and 7 years were also mentioned. So the there could be some overlap.

Also, Hoid couldn't have the scout in WoR, because at that time he was travelling to the place Janash was going to Elsecall

Elantris is too early. It is like 1000 years before Mistborn or something like that. I think the spy Eventeo talked about was Hoid though.

In Elantris, Eventeo tells Sarene that he has a spy in Arelon that she doesn't know.

Perhaps its Felt..

Previous drafts (as seen in the annotations) point to Torena as the culprit for Eventeo's spy.  It just was never revealed because the only place for said reveal to happen ended up being directly before the revelation about Kiin.  It came across as comical rather than a nicely shocking payoff for the mystery.

Upvote to OP. This was the thing that led me to go from forum lurker to member. I'm soooooo happy someone asked Brandon about Felt in person. I think that Felt is not 17th shard, not Hoid, but maybe affiliated with Hoid.

Is there a WOB about Torena being Eventeo's spy because it seems strange to me that an Arelon noblewoman would be a spy for Teod.

Elantris annotation, of the chapter just after the Dakhor attack and everything starts to hit the fan.

I wonder if she was really only reporting back on Sarene's health and safety basically. That wouldn't even be considered treasonous, but since Sarene and probably the king wouldn't like that, they still kept it a secret.

And also stories on what the storms Sarene's doing now.  Because she got up to a lot.

Haha, that's actually what made me stop lurking as well. Well, stop lurking again. I was a member of Time Wasters Guide but never transferred over once that shut down.

Ironically, what made me stop lurking there was when I noticed that there was a character name that seemed to be repeated in Mistborn and Elantris (the only books out at the time), and the unpublished Liar of Partinel which I thought was odd, so I posted a topic about it...
