I honestly re-read that comic last night. That's awesome! :D

So many classic moments, though I have to say Sourpuss is one of my favorites.

And IIRC, Adams referenced Harry Potter a while back when he had an HR rep mention that the new cubicle fabric came in a color called "Death Eater Grey" and if you got too close, it would suck out your soul.

So, when I had my first idea for character for the RP I wanted a Ravenclaw, but now I have Victor and I have no idea what house fits him best and how will his conversation with sorting hat go. Could you all point me to some good sources about houses and their characteristics? Or maybe I'll write more about what kind of person he is and you'll advice? :)

Here's the source I use. I wouldn't go into all of their posts about models and performing  and burned primaries unless you really want to, but the primaries are the more important ones. I've also read the secondaries, and I'd recommend them, but I'd say they're, well, secondary. :P

If it helps you Sort Victor, Shannon is a Slytherin primary, Hufflepuff secondary.

I think I'll have Heather join the RP once they get to Hogwarts, unless anyone really wants her to join them. I think we've got the train groups figured out, though, so I think it's better to wait. Thoughts?

I'm fine with whatever you decide :) although I can't say how long you'll wait. The activity suddenly dropped in last couple of days, it might take some time before others are fine to make the train arrive.

Yeah I'll get a Serena post up shortly, other than that I think we're waiting on Nashan in the other carriage?

Yeah, I really need to make myself post something. Has the train started moving?

Just recently yeah

Well, after lots of reading I came to conclusion that Victor is double Slytherin... so, he'll be joining the "bad guys" :P

I know that it's been a few years and we're dealing with the ever flexible youth, but where are the Luddites? The wizards and witches mistrustful of webs, USB drives, and Cells of Galvanus? How are the Professors reacting? How in the world does the Ministry enforce the Statute of Secrecy with web anonymity? What is happening to the library and the restricted books on "Magik Most Evile"? Are there charms that interact with computers? A debugging charm, perhaps? When does Albus get to come? Why didn't anyone notice the Boy who lived sending off his kids? Is Teddy still there? Would the Room of Requirement turn into a room with walls full of electric plugs? Do Memory charms work on computers? "Rats, I accidentally downloaded a virus. Obliviate!" What kinds of spam do people get? Transfiguration is going to be pretty tricky for the Muggle pretender, right? Wait, how did she even learn about Hogwarts? Has the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets been turned into a theme park attraction or a hazing technique yet? Does geolocation even work in Hogwarts? How does the Marauder's Map handle that, anyways?

Professor McGonagall, first day of class: "Accio cell phones!"

Edit: Wait, can you use the Confundus charm to hack stuff? There must be some magical firewalls we can work up, right?

Ok, so I will write an Eleanor back story soon. She will have trouble with transfiguration, but she has contacts inside the school helping her with that, as well as a prototype that will probably work. The one thing that I guess I should say is that one of her friends broke the Statute of Secrecy in a time of utmost need.

Can I join? I didn't realize that I was supposed to sign up here, so I just posted something on the actual thing. Sorry. I can delete it if you want.

Sure you can :) and if you're talking about your question, please do delete it (if mods didn't), it helps to keep that thread clean :)

From what I remember Albus is comming to Hogwart in 2017,so next year. Teddy should be there already. As for theother questions, I guess we'll have to improvise ;)

On Voidus's Google Doc, there's a list with all of the PC's and NPC students (though nobody's done teachers yet.) Here's the link, if you want it.

Also, do you mind if I add a member of staff that's a (completely ineffective) OH&S worker at Hogwarts? I think he'd make a great comic character. He tries to bring in 'safety measures', like a flying height cap of 15 feet, which then completely flops. (Because seriously, safety has never seemed to be of high importance to the teachers or students at Hogwarts.)

Yay! They have 100% Hemalurgy-free cookies. :P

Or at least, that's what they tell first years.

I love being able to see the reason people hide comments :)

Incidentally hiding is basically the same as deleting, only mods can still see it if they want.

I'm just going to speak up here and say that I don't know if I'd really be comfortable with that, transfiguration with muggle technology set at the current day would both consume a heck of a lot of power and also be very, very dangerous. You're essentially talking about fission and atomic manipulation.

Sorry, I tend to get a bit nit-picky when talking about technology, anyway obiously I'm happy to go with consensus opinion about it but I feel like it'd be a bit distracting for me at least to introduce sci-fi level technology.

So, seeing as I completely missed the beginning of the RP, could I join as a painting?

I don't think it's a problem if you want to start a student somewhere still, although starting in a new carriage is probably a good idea.

That said I definitely welcome some portrait-friends :D

I understand that you aren't comfortable with sci-fi level tech at Hogwarts, but in a fantasy world where the cocreator of the tech is bestowed magically with inhuman intellect and mechanical prowess, I think it's fine. (Wow, I'm giving away quite a bit of the backstory here aren't I).

Posted

That makes me feel better about what's already happened but transfiguration is just kind of insane, primarily because altering things at an atomic level tends to result in destroying cities, and typically requires enough power to run several cities. Superhuman intellect is all well and good but fitting that amount of tech into a wand? And not dying from radiation poisoning or accidentally creating another Cherbobyl?
To achieve something like that you'd need to come up with a series of technologies hundreds of thousands of times more efficient than anything we have today, any one of which would revolutionize the entire world. I mean you'd need a mobile power generator, a battery capable of storing enough power to run a couple of cities, something to facilitate nuclear fission and cold fusion, an insanely powerful computer with environmental scanning abilities.

Well, do you have a solution maybe? Like extradimensional intervention or something? Because if it comes down to it I can retcon my posts but I like the character I have built now.
