Delightful Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 At least as much as the Loch Ness Monster. So, proven unlikely since the proliferation of advanced phones?
Kobold King he/him Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 So, proven unlikely since the proliferation of advanced phones? Well I am less likely to be in the room if everyone in it has their cellphone out, so yeah. You hit the nail on the head.
Delightful Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) I was aiming for you're never seen IRL cause you're always on the Internet, but sure, that works too Edited February 21, 2016 by Delightful
Young Bard he/him Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 And, on a completely different topic, Clinton beat Sanders in the Nevada Caucus. Trump is winning in the South Carolina Primary, but less than one percent of the vote's come in, so early days. Should I set up a 2016 American Election page for random info like this?
Delightful Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Does that mean Sanders it out of the running, or is it a sort of popularity vote at this point?
Kobold King he/him Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I was aiming for you're never seen IRL cause you're always on the Internet, but sure, that works too I'm a complex subject. The joke works on many levels. Oh, and Twi. The Skunk Ape is a subspecies of Sasquatch said to live in the swamps of Florida. Mothman is a bizarre winged creature with glowing eyes reported in the Point Pleasant area of West Virginia. Also globsters. Good luck.

Young Bard he/him Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Does that mean Sanders it out of the running, or is it a sort of popularity vote at this point? Well, mathematically speaking, he's not nearly out of the running, with 47 states and around half (700 odd totally) of the unpledged delegates (meaning they can vote for whoever they like, regardless of the popular vote) for the Democrats. But, Clinton has a pretty massive lead right now due to about 300 having already said they will vote for Clinton. In the popular vote, they're neck on neck, so unless Sanders gets a popularity spike (which happened to Obama back in '08 when he was running against Clinton), it will be down to him winning over the remaining unpledged delegates. TL;DR: It's not conclusive either way, but it would be a harder trek for Sanders at this point.
Kobold King he/him Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 So many creatures to research. I have a copy of Cryptozoology A to Z in my lap right now.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I have a copy of Cryptozoology A to Z in my lap right now. And of course my library doesn't have that book. They do have In Search of Sasquatch, which in all honesty sounds like a title Gilderoy Lockhart would write. The summary doesn't look bad, but the title just throws me off. To the internet it is.

You're writing a Potterverse fic, right? Why not make it a book that Gilderoy Lockhart writes?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 You're writing a Potterverse fic, right? Why not make it a book that Gilderoy Lockhart writes? …I was going to ask if he'd ever been to America, but then again, it's Lockhart. Had he been allowed to continue his "career," he probably would've written a book on magical flora and fauna native to Australia while banned from setting foot there. Plus, I was planning on introducing a couple of wizards who study Sasquatches, so that'd be the perfect opportunity to namedrop In Search of Sasquatch.
Kobold King he/him Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 ...Hold on a minute, is this In Search of Sasquatch by Kelly Milner Halls? Because I read the kid's introduction to cryptozoology she wrote as a kid and loved it.

Kobold King he/him Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I don't remember. Maybe I should pick another title. Searches for Sasquatch? Fits Lockhart's theme a little better.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Searches for Sasquatch? Fits Lockhart's theme a little better. That works. I could also go with Summer of Sasquatch or Soirees with Sasquatch if I wanted to get fancy. 1

Lockhart approved. In other news, it's my new headcanon that Batman: The Animated Series takes place in the alternate dimension of the Cybermen seen in Doctor Who. My evidence? The Batman intro is filled with blimps and John Lumic is a villain of Gotham dramatics if I ever saw one. Edited February 21, 2016 by Kobold King 1

Kaymyth she/her Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Hey, if any of you guys in the US can direct me to some decent local urban legends, I'd be much obliged. Here's the ones I already know about: Black-Eyed Kids Dark Mirror Sasquatch/Bigfoot Jersey Devil Everything on this list The theater ghost of Mt. Spokane High School Tommyknockers And I think I've read up on more, but if there are others, let me know. No official urban legends, but once you get me on the phone I can tell you some stories about the ghosts that populated one of my old college campuses. And, er, considerably more and weirder stuff than that if you want.

Kaymyth she/her Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I'd be up for that. Well, then, there we go. OK, fellow nerds! I am about to show you something you never thought you'd see: Princess Leia in the Enterprise captain's chair! She really is overdue for a good grooming. Her coat's looking a bit scraggly. 3

Kaymyth she/her Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 (edited) Can't--hug--adorable dog--through--screen! D'awww. (If it helps, she doesn't particularly liked to be hugged. It makes her nervous. She squirms.) ETA: I also updated my cosplay thread with new pictures. Edited February 21, 2016 by Kaymyth

ETA: I also updated my cosplay thread with new pictures. I'd pet her, then. Or just stand a comfortable distance away and offer her a treat. (Bruce isn't a huge fan of hugs, either, but sometimes he'll ask me to pick him up and hold him. He'll stand on his hind legs and paw at my knees until I do. ) And they're pretty awesome, guys.

She appreciates scritches. And people who fly the helicopter for her. (You wouldn't believe how many remote control helicopters that dog has gone through.) She'll sometimes clamor for James to pick her up, she just doesn't like being squished. But she's a very friendly dachshund; not snappish at all (except under extreme duress). We're fairly certain, though, that she has the soul of a cat, partly because she's not fond of other dogs. She'll tolerate their presence, but once the initial frenzied barking is over, she'd just as soon not interact with them. In all honesty, once you've figured out how to put scale mail together properly, it's really hard to make it look bad.
