ChickenPlague he/him Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 The Void is fine in my opinion. Also what did you mean about the portals closing at lightspeed? Don't they have to let the object through?
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) Hi guys. Should I get up a Countdown post soon? Edited February 4, 2016 by Anamaximder

The Swan Dragon he/him Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Hi guys. Should I get up a Countdown post soon? I'm still kind of new, so just out of curiosity, what do you mean by a Countdown post? Thanks! Bai! ~Wpx 1

Mailliw73 he/him Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I asked this in Brandon's Twitter Q&A today. Can you tell us anything about Night's Sorrow? A: Almost nobody has ever seen Night's Sorrow. 1

mail-mi he/him Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Finally got an Astoria post up. What other threads are in need of my characters?
Comatose he/him Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Still sounds good to me, do you want to run Insight's recruitment speech by me first to make sure there are no hick ups or are we just going to wing it? There will pretty definetly be a meet up between the two but I can't promise anything on the fighting front. Although, worst case there's always the possibility to WHOOC it. I can run the speech by you first, but I'm also fine with just seeing if it works. One of my favourite plotlines in the Mistborn RP started when something my character did made another player's character do something that was the opposite of what we planned (she was supposed to figure out a key mystery, and had a panic attack instead). So yeah, if Insight gives his pitch, and Kenshin doesn't bite, I'm fine with seeing where things go 1

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 5, 2016 Author Posted February 5, 2016 I have deduced the true identity of Night's Sorrow. It's : NINJA SMILEY?? But we trusted you! Ninja Smiley was Night's Sorrow all along? I feel so betrayed! 1
Edgedancer he/him Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 NINJA SMILEY?? But we trusted you! Ninja Smiley was Night's Sorrow all along? I feel so betrayed! It only used us to destroy Oregon.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted February 5, 2016 Author Posted February 5, 2016 It only used us to destroy Oregon. It's in cahoots with the One Who Ate Nine!
Edgedancer he/him Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 It's in cahoots with the One Who Ate Nine! But in the end, if they use us to destroy Oregon then we still win by default, because everyone else loses.
Paranoid King he/him Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) So here's an epic idea I came up with: Name: Cannon Fodder Description: Original form is 4'10", bald on the top of the head, black hair on the sides, wears black cape. About 40 years old. (looks somewhat like Vizzini) Epic power 1: Ability to create minions by duplicating himself. He can continue to walk forward while an image of him and any gear he is carrying stays where he used to be. After he is completely clear of the image, it solidifies, and he can issue it a command which consists of up to five words (verb, noun, adjective, time) For example, he could tell it, "follow me silently 3 hours", which would make the minion follow him for 3 hours, while trying to remain quiet. His minions cannot be separated from the gear they were carrying when they were created. His minions cannot speak, use little to no original thought, and are completely obedient. When any blood leaves their body, they go "poof", and turn into a small puff of smoke. He can have up to 100 minions at one time. Epic Power 2: Ability to create henchmen by duplicating himself. He creates these in much the same way as the minions, but before creating one, he must remain still for 30 minutes. After creating one, he can issue it more detailed commands than he can to minions. Henchmen can speak, and are obedient, but free-willed to an extent that allows them to carry out orders more effectively. Henchmen have none of Cannon Fodder's powers. He can have up to 10 henchmen at one time, but usually has less. Secondary power: Limited disguise. He can change his height by up to one inch, his hair any color of grayscale, and can give himself defects, but cannot change his eye color, skin color, or physical ability. Henchmen and minions he creates using this power retain those physical differences. Personal strengths: He's a good planner, he's patient, and he tends to stay focused on his goals. He keeps a realistic assessment of his vulnerabilities. Personal weaknesses: Paranoid, overly fond of traps, single-minded. No prime invincibility. Epic Weakness: I've got one At one point I was thinking of making him scared of sock puppets, but the backstory seemed weak. He has a much better weakness now. When exposed to his weakness, all henchmen and minions act as though they have been issued no commands, and can be issued no further commands. He reverts to his original appearance. Backstory: Grew up in Oregon interned to an engineer. He was smart, but his ideas were often ignored. He continued to work in an engineering department, and often grew resentful of how his talent was wasted. When he became an epic, he had his clones storm the building and destroy it. He then laid traps and ambushes for his supervisors that were not in the building, but kept a low profile after his initial attack, planning how to become one of the most famous epics. His minions constantly spy on the populace, keeping him updated on recent events. Edited February 5, 2016 by Paranoid King
Elithanathile he/him Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 The Void is fine in my opinion. Also what did you mean about the portals closing at lightspeed? Don't they have to let the object through? The closing at lightspeed thing was a random idea for not letting heat through (if ported to the sun) but I knew it was unrealistic as the object wouldn't be able to go through in time. So I'll probably stick with The Void. It still is portal-y while being different, yet handling all the issues.

His minions constantly spy on the populace, keeping him updated on recent events. If his minions can't speak or do any impressive cognitive feats, how can they be used to spy on people? On a similair note, how major defects are we talking here that people at large haven't started picking out the over 100 extremly similair looking people out of crowds? Eh, I'm pretty sure his weakness would just makes his guys disappear, although loosing their orders could be an partial effect. As for the last part of his backstory and his powers at large, they seem like something that would be hard to implement into a location that's already running. The closing at lightspeed thing was a random idea for not letting heat through (if ported to the sun) but I knew it was unrealistic as the object wouldn't be able to go through in time. So I'll probably stick with The Void. It still is portal-y while being different, yet handling all the issues. Truth be told, I'm not all that fond how to keep it purely passive, it's essentially two seperate powers, depending on wheter the attack is an object or living. Nor would I be fond of an ability that lets him body check the likes of Steelheart into oblivion.
Paranoid King he/him Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) If his minions can't speak or do any impressive cognitive feats, how can they be used to spy on people? They can write to communicate. "Spy downtown" would tell the minion to mingle with the crown downtown. When a major event occurs, the minion takes note, returns, and writes what they saw. Although I suppose that might be a bit complicated. It would probably be better if he could just touch them to absorb anything they have seen or heard. On a similar note, how major defects are we talking here that people at large haven't started picking out the over 100 extremely similar looking people out of crowds? He disguises himself, makes a minion, changes his disguise, makes another minion. The minions are different enough, and spread out enough (at most, you'll likely have only 5 minions in an area) that it would be hard to tell that they all look like the same guy. If he wants a spy that looks like a cripple, he disguises himself to have no right leg, makes a minion, and reverts back to his original appearance. Eh, I'm pretty sure his weakness would just makes his guys disappear, although loosing their orders could be an partial effect. The weakness is actually really easy to find/implement. If you get to him and tie him up, he's unable to make any more minions. That he loses his connection to his minions indicates that the minions are separate entities, not clones of himself. As for the last part of his backstory and his powers at large, they seem like something that would be hard to implement into a location that's already running. Hmm... Would it work better if I had him unobtrusively come in and set up a base? Because I was planning the initial intro to be a rebuttal of reckoners trying to invade his base. I don't know about that. People will spin around for a second look if they think one stranger looks too similar to another stranger; seeing the same face five times, wearing different outfits, would weird most people out. Especially if he looked like Vizzini. 1

People will spin around for a second look if they think one stranger looks too similar to another stranger; seeing the same face five times, wearing different outfits, would weird most people out. Especially if he looked like Vizzini. Should I expand his disguise abilities? Maybe give him the ability to change his hair color or face structure? And by "area", I mean an area the size of downtown. For people to see the same guy five times, they'd have to wander over half the city.

Because I was planning the initial intro to be a rebuttal of reckoners trying to invade his base. I'd have to agree that deciding which event is important and what isn't to be bejond something only capable of simple thought. Of course, a constant stream of minions in and out of his hideout would utterly compromise any kind of secrecy he's trying to have for said location. So it's a weakness that can only be used after already getting past his powers (given that he has to go out of range for his clones to start working tying him up would make his powers unusable, even if it wasn't his weakness) and it doesn't even completely cancel out the effect of his powers? Maybe even causing a dagerous rampage. That would probably work better than already having his base established, yes. Having seen your new post. Yes, giving him greater disguise abilities would probably work better but over what kind of distances do you expect these things to travel through a wasteland? Edited February 5, 2016 by Edgedancer

Nor would I be fond of an ability that lets him body check the likes of Steelheart into oblivion. It doesn't. It has previously been stated that his portals don't work on other epics, they just act like a forcefield. They could even be broken with enough force.

Maybe even causing a dangerous rampage. Okay. Poof, powers have been modified. No more mooks. Having seen your new post. Yes, giving him greater disguise abilities would probably work better but over what kind of distances do you expect these things to travel through a wasteland? Well, I'm planning on teaming up with a portal epic. So, hopefully that won't be much of a problem.
