Quiver he/him Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 I'm at work. Taking a break. Panic attacking. I made some mistakes and really stormed up, and I'm panicking, and.. Sorry. The 17th Shard is my happy place. 5

Actually I've never took it before, and the doctor only prescribed it to me a couple of weeks ago. It's just my parents raised me (a.k.a brainwashed me in so many different ways) not ot rely on meds. So I am now a little scared to actually take it. I am also not really good with change, and admitting to myself that I might need meds that I never took before is kinda a big deal for me. So basically in short: No, I didn't take my meds, because I'm paranoid. Yes, there is something wrong with me. Eh.

To my knowledge, she hasn't stalked me on the Shard, but she became my Facebook friend the moment I got an account, so it's not out of bounds to assume she's stalked me to other sites more incriminating than this one. So I've been wondering if she's discovered something and is planning to confront me when we're face to face. That's when you tag her in a photo of Johnny Cash giving the bird Remember, you are now adulting all by yourself, and have been for a few months now! You are almost at the point where the only power Twi mom will have over you is whatever you decide to give her. So though you may not be as confrontational as I would be, it may be time you treat your mother like the petulant child she is and give her a time out. 1

I assume you are not allergic to pollen, cause life would had been nightmarish hell for you Meds are your friend! During summer there are times I take them every day and I'm fine. Don't be afraid.

Nah, I'm fine with pollen. But trust me, dust can be hell too. Just inside the house, instead of outside. And I know that the allergy meds won't harm me. I know it, but I don't feel it for some reason.

My previous flatmate was allergic to dairy (not lactose-intolerant, but actually allergic) and she basically had to check ingredients of everything she ever bought before eating. I would absolutely hate to have to do that. Fortunately I'm only allergic to dust and one type of antibiotic. But antibiotic allergy is easy to deal with, since the only thing I need to do is to tell the doctors "don't give it to me, or I'll die". Simple enough.

Food allergies and sensitivities aren't as bad as they sound. I'm sensitive to artificial additives (artificial flavors, preservatives like BHT, any color followed by a number) and it's mostly made sure I do a lot of my own cooking. Saves me money in the long run. 1 hour ago, Orlion Determined said: That's when you tag her in a photo of Johnny Cash giving the bird Remember, you are now adulting all by yourself, and have been for a few months now! If she really has discovered one of my secrets, I'll wait for her to confront me about it and ask her how she found out. Because there are two ways she could've found out: either she pressed someone I told for information, or she stalked me online. Either one is an invasion of privacy, and I'll call her on it. If she's just ignoring me for her own mysterious reasons, I'll just let her do it. She can talk to me when she's feeling more mature.

When I was younger, I'd get rash (I have atopic dermatitis. I checked google and I'm issuing an average warning on googling) but it wasn't so bad I couldn't eat things. Well, there was a time I couldn't, but it was when I was even younger. I had a harsh reaction to dairy, so I couldn't even eat butter. Now I have no reaction from eating food and that's very good, since there is a cremton of foods I'm allergic to. That leaves me with dust and pollens. A story to cheer things up: two or three years ago, early spring, I had a random allergy attack. When I was riding a bus to school my eyes started to tear up really bad (strange as there was no other reaction like sneezing or anything). I went with it. In English class I was called to board for a check-up of vocabulary... all the time red-eyed and tearing. My teacher asked me, full of concern in her voice, if everything is okay and "are you going to burst into tears? Because lately one younger girl did". The funny thing is, I was acing through this and remembering all the words while wiping my eyes once in a moment and then she asks me that xD I laughed and explained "Allergy!". That relief on her face, priceless. EDIT: 5 minutes ago, TwiLyghtSansSparkles said: Food allergies and sensitivities aren't as bad as they sound. That depends how strong the allergy is. Some can ignore it... but I know of a girl who cannot eat almost nothing normal. IIRC the only meat she can eat is shark. Cannot eat bread. Those things. She is allergic to some stuff in the clothes and wears primarily silk. I may be misremembering details, but you get the picture. Edited September 3, 2016 by Oversleep 3

While I do feel sorry for her (I can only imagine how difficult it would be, having to live with all those limitations) I hope she's made the most of her predicament by pretending to be a silk-clad, shark-eating Bond villain. This may or may not be what I would do in her situation.
Mestiv he/him Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 @Pestis the Spider I think that your reluctance to meds isn't a bad thing. I think our society is getting addicted to painkillers for example. Taking a painkiller almost every day doesn't sound too healthy... so I try to live without those simple meds as much as I can. For allergies, maybe some calcium would help? There are calcium tabs dissolving in water that help me if I have a bigger allergy problem (pollens :/)

Since I've opened up my account out of complete lockdown, non-friends can actually read my posts now and she might've gotten an eyeful of me sharing Pagan Pride Day stuff. In which case, she's probably gearing up to have a Serious Talk (TM) with you about your choice of friends. Edited September 3, 2016 by Kaymyth

If she calls with a Serious Talk in mind, I'll just wait for her to ask "Why are you friends with a pagan?" so I can retort "Why are YOU friends with a woman who thinks you can make clam chowder by putting a bunch of canned soups in a pot and adding clams?" and then hang up. Taking extra minerals and vitamins to treat something is not that much different from taking meds. And it's not like I have a calcium-deficiency. 1

Well, the main difference is that you can find calcium in milk and many other different daily food products. You won't find antihistamines or painkillers in you sandwich or coffee (with milk)

Claincy he/him Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 I don't have any food allergies which is nice I recently found out that I do have a fairly severe dust mite allergy. Which is probably not helping my sinus issues. On a related note it's now been 2 weeks since I started taking the new nasal spray the doctor thought would help and it has made no noticeable impact on the headaches, just the same as any other medication we've tried *sigh*. I wasn't expecting it to do anything, but it's still disappointing. :'(
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 SpongeBob!Coworker hums as he works. There's no tune. It doesn't last long enough to become pleasant. He just hums a bar or two, stops, and then does it again. When he pauses to read something, he comments to himself. "Hmm" and "Oh my goodness" are muttered often. When I answer the phone, he asks me about the call when I hang up. Or he comments on my end of the conversation. More than once he has asked me about the TV Tropes page I had open on my screen when he passed behind me. He holds extended conversations with patrons, meaning if I'm the only other person at the desk, I have to handle everyone who isn't chatting with him. If he starts chatting with one of my patrons, I have to wait until they're finished. None of this is done in a Big Brother sort of way. I'd be surprised if he were keeping tabs on his coworkers to snitch on us. He's friendly and courteous, but the more annoying side of these traits is really getting on my nerves.

Mainly it's much more difficult (as in impossible) to overdose the calcium by drinkin milk. Calcium in tablets can be overdosed like any other medicine. And to be honest quite a lot of simple painkillers and other meds are totally natural products, just purified and put on a tablet, so it's not that much different. 1
Magestar he/him Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) Ouch. That hurts. However, you can still probably put the classes on your application. They won't count for credit, but they will show that you are willing to work hard, and the fact that you did said classes may count for more than you think. Also, do you feel you got something out of those classes? I wouldn't say that they are useless. They just did not accomplish quite what you had intended. It's likely that the college will take into account your classes anyway. If the problem is having enough credits to get in... I don't know enough about the college. But from the sound of it (AP classes and 5 extracurriculars?), assuming you have done the normal requirements, credits should not be too much of a problem. Edited September 4, 2016 by Magestar 2
Sunbird she/her Posted September 4, 2016 Posted September 4, 2016 Re: allergies, I thankfully have no allergies to food or medication (at least not that I know of). I am allergic to some sort of pollen or grass or something outdoorsy, but it stays pretty much under control as long as I take my meds. I also used to get a runny nose and itchy, watery eyes if I cuddled a cat too closely and got the hair on my face or in my nose, but thankfully I seem to have gotten over that. My dad, though, is allergic to a common antibiotic (amoxicillin, I think, however you spell it). One time the doctor prescribed it for him even though the allergy was listed in my dad's medical records, and my dad was soooooo angry when he got to the pharmacy and found out. That was the last time he ever saw that doctor.
