+Slowswift Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 You mean middle earth as in LoTR? If not, you can always try Horrible Histories. Yup, Lord of the Rings.
Young Bard he/him Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Well, depends on how long the clip should be. If you're OK with it being 11 hours long... 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Avengers is very quotable also. and when I first watched Mean Girls, I didn't see the movie. I saw "oh. That's where that quote is from. Oh. That's where *that* quote is from" etc etc. Maleficent was a pretty cool take on Sleeping Beauty, she's a wonderfully complex character. And I ship her with Loki There will never be a time in modern history when Mean Girls is not relevant. It has been over ten years now, and it has only become more relevant with the passage of time. I'll say it now and I'll say it proud: Mean Girls may very well be the greatest teen movie of our time. 1
Kestrel she/her Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Make a post in the math and science thread and I'll see if I can help you out.its too late for me.
+Slowswift Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Well, depends on how long the clip should be. If you're OK with it being 11 hours long... Hah, sorry. The pres has to be 10 minutes long, so there's only room for a small clip.
Orlion Blight he/him Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 You mean middle earth as in LoTR? If not, you can always try Horrible Histories. Horrible Histories is fantastic! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2mhgpc_horrible-histories-english-civil-war-song_fun
Young Bard he/him Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Horrible Histories - Middle Earth Cross Over. What a thought. Back on track, any particular part that you need to focus on? Culture? Battles and magicky stuff (which is what Tolkien focused most on)? Politics? Daily Life?
Mashadar Mistborn he/him Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 *sits in room in the dark, reading on Kindle* *realizes that he has lost track of phone* *stretches to get up and turn on lights* *accidentally punches phone* Now I can stay in darkness. 1

I don't know how Wayne gets a pickle out of two plus two, I'm lucky if I get a typewriter. 4

I don't know how Wayne gets a pickle out of two plus two, I'm lucky if I get a typewriter. I left a candy bar under my cushion for later. When I checked back all I found in its place was a stupid room-temperature superconductor. 1
Kestrel she/her Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 So my dad knows someone at TI and someone who works in nuclear medicine I would like an internship at both please he must introduce me 1
Stormgate he/him Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I tried to write a story. It eventually turned into a mix of the Mistborn series and SA. Then I discovered the Cosmere, and I saw that it had been done.

Currently I have the "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" clip, because at the beginning he says "I am a servant of the Secret Fire", etc.
Allomancy she/her Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 You say 'back on track' on a random topic thread,Which track? The first, second, third, turnip, potato, pigeon, or manatee one? 3
Mashadar Mistborn he/him Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Which track? The first, second, third, turnip, potato, pigeon, or manatee one? The pug one. It is the closest thing that we have to a track here in random stuff, where the glory of randomness dwells. All hail randomness, May it endure until all has passed!! 1
Young Bard he/him Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I feel sorry for lemmings. This is a direct quote from something I'm reading. Contrary to popular belief, lemmings are not suicidal. Indeed it seems unlikely the species would have survived if they regularly did this. ORIGIN: This story was popularized in a 1958 nature documentary called 'White Wilderness', which appeared to show lemmings hurling themselves off a cliff into the Arctic Ocean. However, it later came to light that the lemmings in the film did not jump voluntarily, but were in fact thrown by a rotating platform installed by the film crew. Does it make me a horrible person that I sort of find this hilarious? 1

Silverblade5 he/him Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 its too late for me. I'll make sure you pass next semester then. Consider the people on that thread your go to tutors.

Elbereth she/her Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Given how bad I suck at equations, that might not be true. In other news, that presentation I mentioned? For my mythology class. Anyone have a video clip that would make it more interesting? The subject is Middle-earth history. Well, one good video on the topic is here: https://youtu.be/YxgsxaFWWHQ .My favorite LotR/Silmarillion summarizer is here and here, though she's sadly taken down most of her videos. Those are about Numenor. I don't know if those are what you're looking for, but they're good anyway!

Does it make me a horrible person that I sort of find this hilarious? Nah, I do too. But mostly because the thought of Disney killing lemmings for a film is just so horribly out of character from what we expect of them. Well, I think Disney are evil and will one day rule the world, but thats me.

It just depends who buys the other first...

And I'm not looking for Numenor, really, but they look interesting, so I'll be sure to watch them soon! Thanks for all your help, by the way!
Elbereth she/her Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 You're welcome! Yeah, finding a good clip is hard, and made harder by the fact that the LotR movies don't have many Silmarillion references in them, and many of those that do are wrong. Though there is a good bit where Galadriel gives Frodo the Phial of Eärendil. Like, the light from Eärendil the Mariner's voyages. That's Silmaril light. It burns any evil it touches. It's not a magic flashlight he's got. It's a magic phaser gun. And you can see Shelob flinch back from it, which is really cool. ...I sort of went off topic there. Then again, this is Random Stuff, so... yeah. 2
Mestiv he/him Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Raaandomnesss.... He's on a horse (and the horse is amazing, but I won't link the video ) 1
