Orlion Blight he/him Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 I think you underestimate the power of the Dark Side (of the Internet). I mean, let's face it: not even cat videos have curbed its intensity.
The Sovereign Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Awesomeness I'll be honest, I was opening these and all I was thinking was "If this ends in 'RAFO', then I am going to throw my monitor out the window." Well Played. Thankfully, not necessary: 3

JUST STORMING HIRE THIS GENIUS ALREADY YOU STORMING MORONS SHE WILL ADD PUGS AND RECKONERS AND HAPPINESS INTO YOUR LIVES. I've come to accept that I'll get turned down for the majority of jobs I apply for, and most of them won't even call for an interview. I just wish they'd tell me that within two weeks of the job's closing date so I could move on with my life instead of waiting for them to quit delaying the inevitable.

Delightful Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Wow. Those were the three fastest up votes of ever. Twi; would it make things better or worse to assume you won't get the job and just keep applying? It Could dishearten you, but it could also make it a very pleasant surprise when someone does finally offer you a job.

It Could dishearten you, but it could also make it a very pleasant surprise when someone does finally offer you a job. That's what I've been doing, mostly. In the months since I applied at Park Ridge, I must've put in….oh, at least twenty or thirty more applications. It just gets exhausting, seeing this PDF application I saved to my desktop on the off chance they ask me to send it in again, wondering "okay, will this be the one?" and then hearing, weeks or months later, that someone else already got it. 1

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Shopping online for my parents' Christmas presents. …. I give up. No, seriously, I give up. They both like books, but they're so picky about what they'll read. My dad already owns everything Malcolm Gladwell ever wrote, so that's out, and I don't want to risk getting him a book by an author he's never read because there's a good chance he won't like it. He wants those big, absorbing fiction books, which seems to call for Stormlight or Mistborn, but he's not a huge fantasy reader and, again, I don't want to try another series by an author I haven't read because he might not like it. My mom….she's in a whole other ballpark. She likes political books and books on theology, but neither are really my forte so I have no idea what to get her. My brother is getting her a book she asked for, and I have a feeling one of my sisters is going to do the same, so I'm stuck. Stranded. Oh, and if I take a chance on a theology book that looks interesting? Decent chance she'll hate it, because if she doesn't agree with 99.999% of the theology in a book, she rants about it for days. …. And yes, I thought of getting them both cheese platters. It was a terrible idea then, and it's a terrible idea now.

Give them a big hug Christmas morning, and when they ask where their presents are, ask them with sad puppy-dog eyes if their daughter's love isn't good enough for them. Easy-peasy. 1

Kobold King he/him Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Next idea. Darn it, not another lost patient. They're gonna take away my license to practice armchair psychology. I'm out of ideas. 4
