Unite Them he/him Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 (edited) I have now finished both stormlight books, the first mistborn trilogy, and am currently reading warbreaker... By the forgotten gods! Why is everyone in the cosmere snorting all the damnation time! It's used as a sort of scoff or sneer. After reading it so many times I thought to myself, what exactly is a snort? As I understand it its sort of like a a deep sucking of mucus from the back of your throat. If there is any proof that all the humans of the cosmere are somewhat genetically related it has to be the universal use of snorting to express yourself. These poor people need one of the shareholders of the cosmere to cure them all of their profuse mucus problem! The problem is so rampant I doubt even Harmony has the power to do anything about it. Think about it. When you disagree with someone do you snort? I don't. Maybe grunt or smirk... Maybe give a curt little, "ya okay pal!" The snorts must be stopped before the combined snorting of the people of the cosmere brings forth the mucus everstorm and the last final and true snorting desolation! Curiosity he/him Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 I usually think of it as a sudden exhaling limited to the nasal passages similar to a blast of laughter, except that there is no engagement of the vocal cords and you let it out through your nose, not your mouth. So... I think scoff is probably a good substitute. 1
