Delightful Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Who are all these characters? I don't remember them.
Orlion Blight he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Who are all these characters? I don't remember them.A lot of them are from the Silmarillion, though many are briefly mentioned in the Lord of the Rings.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I'm still rather immature at heart. 7
Kobold King he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 There's a debate raging on Reddit about whether the Borg or the Daleks would win a war. Frankly, I am stunned that this is even a question. 9
Kaymyth she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Friends did not happen to me . We are your friends! 3

Kobold King he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 We are your friends! Agreed! Yeah, the Borg are a lot closer to Cybermen than Daleks Absolutely. The Borg would scarcely get through their first "Resistance is futile" threat before the Daleks Canary Wharf them into oblivion. 3
Delightful Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 A lot of them are from the Silmarillion, though many are briefly mentioned in the Lord of the Rings. The silmarillion?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 The silmarillion? It's kind of the expanded universe of LotR. Tolkien actually wanted all of his books released together as one volume, because he argued that together they told one cohesive story of Middle-Earth, but the publishers had other ideas.
WayneSpren he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I've read the Silmarillion. But I prefer LotR because Eowen is in it.
Delightful Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I thought he only wrote the hobbit and LoTR before he died, plus lots of world building. He has other actual books? 1
WayneSpren he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 His son Christopher or whatever published them after Tolkien's death. I recommend The Adventures of Tom Bombadil.
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Wanna talk about it? I guess...
Kasimir he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 His son Christopher or whatever published them after Tolkien's death. I recommend The Adventures of Tom Bombadil. At one point, he did it in conjunction with Guy Gavriel Kay. I approve of the fact that one of my favourite authors helped edit the work of another of my favourite authors for publication. (This would be for the Silmarillion.)
The Honor Spren she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Are we still "calling dibs" on characters? If so, I call Pippin. Or possibly Merry. Best. Characters. 1
The Sovereign Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Are we still "calling dibs" on characters? If so, I call Pippin. Or possibly Merry. Best. Characters. Dammit, I was too slow... should have grabbed Pippin... what a rookie mistake.
Guest Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I call Vána, since you guys have taken just about everyone else. And remember to save Gollum for Morzathoth.
Elbereth she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Eru knows, Fëanor would try even the patience of Elbereth I'd just be like, "FEANOR! Quit asking Galadriel for her hair!" "FEANOR! Quit being so greedy with your precious gems! They're not that special!" ..."FEANOR! WHAT did your sons just do?" I thought he only wrote the hobbit and LoTR before he died, plus lots of world building. He has other actual books?Kind of. The Silmarillion is the most well known. It's not exactly a novel, though. It's the story of the world from its singing into existence to the Third Age (which is when LotR takes place). I personally really like it, but it is dry and has a lot of archaic language. But I would encourage you to try it!EDIT: Morzahoth doesn't get Gollum. He gets Mandos. EDIT 2: Strike that. Morzahoth gets Eöl. Edited November 17, 2015 by Elbereth 4
Kobold King he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Who are you planning to pair me off with? Because I always thought that Balrog was probably a nice guy once you got to know him.
STINK he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 You could say that Gandalf really fell for him. 10
The Honor Spren she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 How about Ancalimë? I haven't actually read the silmarillion, but I've read about her, and she sounds pretty cool.
Kobold King he/him Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 You could say that Gandalf really fell for him. Yeah, but they just could not pass their first date. 7
Elbereth she/her Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Who are you planning to pair me off with? Because I always thought that Balrog was probably a nice guy once you got to know him.Well, if you want a Balrog, you could try Gothmog. Or you could have Carcaras! Actually, no. The biggest wolf ever should go to Winter. And Twi, you might like Huan. He's a wise hound who can only speak three times, and uses his speech to help Beren and Luthien love each other. Kobold... I'll have to think about it. Maybe Haleth? Haleth is pretty awesome. She was the first female human in the Silmarillion, and she basically musters her tribe and refuses to swear allegiance to elves, because she doesn't need their help. (It's been a while, so I might have gotten some of that wrong, but she was awesome regardless.)
