Mistrunner Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Well, I haven't seen the Star Wars trailer yet, but today I was at the pool up on base and discovered that trying to read the rules without glasses is the best thing ever. All aquatic equipment becomes allomancer encampment. Diving board becomes dying gourd. Some more I couldn't figure out later: Baggins Ogre bores Walking dead Hrathen It makes rules so much more entertaining. 4
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 The Star Wars trailer..... Too many light sabers. No Luke. 1

Mistrunner Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 You should not wear your glasses and read stuff more often. It was quite interesting. Maybe it can make English not incredibly boring! "There Oppenheimer bar... Ham." "The Odyssey by Homer." "Ah." 3

Is that were people go when they have grammatically incorrect become death? XD Storms, thats terrible... You could write very nonsensical poetry based on things you read wrong! 1
Quiver he/him Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 So... I have stuff I should be doing today. I have some fan fiction I was writing which I need to get back too, stuff I should be outlining, things I promised people I'd review, film trailers to watch... all sorts of stuff that need doing. I am not doing any of it. Know why? 8
Kaymyth she/her Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 While I do hope that he's been enjoying his vacation, I'm kind of looking forward to ThirdGen coming back to work. Because it has been super-mundane around here without him to pester incessantly IM-chat with. 2

Kaymyth she/her Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 You poor fellow. Is there anything we can do to entertain you? I am a woman, not a fellow. But...eh, it's not that I'm bored, it's just all normal everday stuff. No diversions of nerdery to keep my brain fresh, and the entire office seems to be less weird. Hmm. There's a thought. Ponder the scientific ramifications of the nerd-interaction between me and T. Our dynamic clearly sends out waves of geekification to the whole floor, causing ripple effects. There must be an equation in here somewhere.... Mundane? Not on my watch! Precisely. You're not here! 3

Guest Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I guess my main objection to nihilism is that it says nothing has any meaning, but it must describe these concepts in terms of meaning. If nothing has any meaning, why do we need to say “nothing?" The concept of “nothing" must be described existentially. The concept of a concept must be described meaningfully.
Curious Anamaximder he/him Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Mundane? Not on my watch! It has not been mundane. We talked about the nonexistent Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies. What a weird conversation.

I thought fellow was a gender neutral term, which would make it include women? Anyway, I shall make up for my shortcoming, so I'm on the case.
Left he/him Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 My family has preordered our tickets for Star Wars. We got the first possible showing, on the first day. The hype is strong in the house. 2

Anyway, I shall make up for my shortcoming, so I'm on the case. Fellow is pretty male in my experience. Like o think it would be gender neutral as the exception not the rule, if that even makes sense.

Kaymyth she/her Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Thirdgen+Kaymyth=Geekieness ... Im not very good at math <.< T + K + Geekosity = wavefunction ( madness + cos(arbitraryridiculousness) * Fibonacci + 42) - hubris I thought fellow was a gender neutral term, which would make it include women? Anyway, I shall make up for my shortcoming, so I'm on the case. Yeah, it's not usually gender-neutral, unless used in the plural, and even then not always. Huh, that so? Curse you not native language! English? Difficult for non-native speakers? Surely you jest! 2
Delightful Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Seriously, English must be one of the easiest languages to master! (I'm kidding. English is so weird and complicated that I don't know how anyone can learn it as a second language. I salute you. )

At least you can just use the and don't have to figure out if any given noun, objects included, just so happens to be masculine, feminine or an it.

English is ridiculous. The plural of goose is geese but the plural of moose is moose. How do you know when you didn't do something or you hadn't done it? Etc etc.
