So I've got a very important paper due tomorrow, and I only just finished my introduction. I'm only on here right now to distract myself. Looks like I've got a loooooong night ahead of me

It seems you too hold the shard of procrastinating... on the Shard.

So I finished Feedback, the sequel to Variant, today. It was actually pretty good; the ending wasn't near as bad as I'd been led to believe. Sure, it left some questions unanswered, but not enough that I didn't feel any closure.

But then I had a few spare minutes in class, so I pulled out my phone and read the bonus material Rob published for Altered Perceptions, the epilogue.

My reaction to that?

You do know the story about the guy who taught his horse to eat less and less, right?

Yeah, sadly I know that I can barely manage for a day on less than four hours of sleep, so a threshold remains. I just can't help but think of what I could do if I didn't need sleep.

I don't geddit...

Dakota Fanning was a child actress who not only was rather good, but had an explosion of movie releases at her peak. She has since flourished into a beatuiful woman, but she's stopped acting. Whether this is due to a personal decision, or no one hires her anymore, I don't know. She got some heavy Disney backing when she first hit the scene.

Edit: I've been told she's still acting. Thanks ThirdGen!

Donna definitely ranks up there as one of my favorite companions, if not my absolute favorite. I loved her sassy banter with the Doctor, the way she treated him like her best friend instead of a crush, but most of all I loved how intentionally ordinary she was. She wasn't brilliant, she wasn't brave, she wasn't prepared for everything she saw....but she was enthusiastic and compassionate, allowing her to become a hero to people who needed one.

I love that! Rose and Martha, and even Amy and Clara to lesser extents, seem to be so full of drama all the time. The previous two have explicitly shown crushes on him for their entire runs, Amy starts off with one, and let's just say I found some of Clara's interactions with Eleven towards the end suspicious.

So to follow the "companions = girlfriends" analogy presented to us in School Reunion, Rose, Martha, Amy, and Clara are all exes, while Donna is the wacky friend he had some of his most over the top adventures with.

Has anyone else here seen Crimson Peak

(I remain convinced Crimson Peak is basically a sequel to The Turn of the Screw)

She's still going, she's just been in lower-profile indies for a few years now (and before that, she latched onto the Twilight franchise for a few films).  Still, she's so good that even when she was a kid, everybody could see "This is gonna be the next Meryl Streep."

I did not know, and I like to think I do a decent job of keeping up with Indie films....oh well. And I never cared about Twilight, so no shock I didn't know of her there.

I have not, how is it?

Beautifully shot, well-acted, story is a bit weak. I'm happy to have seen it, but its not the amazing film I was expecting.

(Though I'm not a fan of horror, so it being Gothic romance was good for me)
