It seems I was using the full version on mobile, in which pretty much any signature takes up a ton of space.

Yeah, don't worry about that :)

Alvaron, your size is good, but you will need to pull out your Elimination stats, please.

Done.

As an administrative question, as it doesn't pertain to me, if a person has a link to Sanderson Elimination (scores or otherwise), is that still ok or should all aspects of Sanderson Elimination in a sig be taken out?

Posted

Is not an admin, but I'd say that links to SE isn't a problem. Otherwise links full stop would be banned.  The SE issue as I understood it was more a boasting/hurting feelings sorta thing. Hence no stats.

Correct.

Why is my spoiler doing that?

really want to know how to make spoilers do that on purpose.

Reckon you could make a copy of your post, and put it in a

[/code!] box? (without the ! in the end tag)? Maybe PM it so it's not clogging up the topic. Chaos, if you read this, the above, if it's still there, is an example of what I wanted to know when I asked you about spoiler descriptions awhile back.

Edit:

Why is my spoiler doing that?

It's a glitch with the WYSIWYG editor. If switch to the code mode you'll see some random open/close tags (E.g.: [1] [2][/2] ), and tags which aren't being closed in the proper order (E.g.: [1] [2] [3][/3] [/1] [/2] instead of [1][2][3][/3][/2][/1]).

The text editor is stricter in the code mode, fixing the glitch by removing orphan opening/closing tags, but the WYSIWYG version is more lenient.

Webpages are displayed in HTML, not BBCode, right? The forum will convert the BBCode to the appropriate HTML tags, and it's generating scrambled and orphan HTML open/close tags. Our web browsers are clever, and don't remove tags unless it's a lost closing tag. When your browser finds an open tag it'll attempt to close it as soon as possible. The spoiler HTML code is composed by two boxes (tags), the outer container, which is the always visible the rectangle border, and an inner box which becomes visible/hidden when you click the show/hide button. Our browsers are finding the open "inner" spoiler tag, and due the scrambled code they think it should be closed before it should truly be closed, leaving some text outside it, but still inside the main container of the spoiler box.

TL;DR: It's not supposed to happen, and it's hard to reproduce. The simplest way is quoting a glitched message, copying the spoiler part and changing it by hand. I advise against doing it, since it could be seen as exploiting a glitch.

Is this okay? The new links to QF10 won't take a new row each, they'll just be next to each other.

You're not quite within the new guidelines yet. Based the text you currently have in there, you'd need to either get rid of six lines of text, or do some more rearranging so that it doesn't go beyond the guide line. Here's the rule, for reference:

Total Signature Size

Look at one of your posts. See that vertical line separating the left-hand side--which has your avatar, post count, and rep count--and the post content? That's the minimum height of your post, regardless of how much or how little you write in a post.

Therefore, here is the restriction on signature lengths: if you write a one-line post, your signature should be contained within this vertical line.

My signature picture is 500x99 pixels. Would I be allowed to add any writing in addition to my current signature?

Yup! Looks like you can a couple lines of text into your sig without going over, no problem.

Posted

Slowswift, you're at exactly 500x100. So technically you fall within the new guidelines.

If you want to check how many pixels your sig takes up, simply right click the image and choose "Inspect Element". From that you'll see a colored box that contains "margin", "border", "padding", and your actual image in the middle with numbers. These numbers will represent your pixel count.

Posted (edited)

The Only Joe, as far as I can tell, you're good. The major specification is that even with a one line post, your entire sig does not go beyond your left side bar information (i.e. past your reputation designation). Your post above proves that even with your one line of text, your sig falls within this allowable range.

In particular, your two images are 154 x 90 and 200 x 45 respectively. What really matters is the summation of the width: 154+200=354 pixels wide. The vertical is determined by the 90 pixels of the "Have You Heard" image, because this trumps the 45 pixels in the coppermind image. So, your total pixel count for your two combined images is roughly 354 x 90, well within the 500 x 100 limit.
