Sounds like the best you could do then. I'm sorry. Your parents suck. :( and they treat you like a 12 year old.

*hugs*

*sings lullaby*

*plays harp so Bruce sleeps*

*opens trapdoor under him and falls through to Devils Snare".

Except for when they need me to do them a favor that requires a driver's license. <_< Though I guess all this is kind of a blessing in disguise. Before Dad's visit, and the chocolate thing, and all of that, I was actually thinking it might not be too bad to move back to Spokane. Not going to happen now, if I have a say in it….

Oops. Well….it's the thought that counts. :P

You can sleep on Devils snare can't you?

Also, you're an adult. You have a say. Use your savings to travel and go stay with Kaymyth till you find a job. Or something. There have got to be options.

But there's no telling how long it'll be before I do get a job, so I'd just be imposing on her until I finally became employed.

With the tiredness, I'm just going to push through. Write another chapter, drink some tea. I can do this.

So, I had an exam at uni today early in the mornins, so I tried to get some sleep, especially that I had to wake up in a middle of the night (2:30 am) for some stupid reason. But when I tried to fall asleep again I realised that... my flatmate is playing guitar and singing. Yes, at 2:30 am. and in complete darkness, for some reason. He was pretty quiet, I'll give him that, but c'mon... Fun fact: He also had exam this morning. I don't know how he does it...

Me: I'm tired. I was up with Bruce all night again.

Dad: Advice, advice, advice.

Me: None of that advice would really work for me, Dad.

Dad: More advice.

Me: Y U NO JUST COMMISERATE WITH ME. U R NOT GOING TO SOLVE ALL MY PROBLEMS SO STAHP.

Edit: All this is probably just further proof I need sleep. Of course, it doesn't help that if the problem is his fault, he won't face up to it; he and my mom didn't even apologize for the chocolate fiasco the other night. In fact, when I acted worried, my mom got angry with me, as though I had no right to be mad at her even if she had wound up poisoning my dog.

And I did try to get some sleep. Didn't work.

If Bruce doesn't sleep tonight, I don't know what I'll do. :(

No offense Twi but your parents appear to be a part of the alarmingly large group that should never have had the privilege of raising children.

If its any consolation my younger sister is part of that group and she will soon have 2 children. Poor things.

She might not mind, she's offered to take you in a few times.

You deserve to be around people who care about you Twi. You do not have to stick with your family just because.

*hugs*

And I can't wait to read the next chapter. Cheering for you here. :)

Delightful, you chose your name well. You are, from what I've seen, a good friend.

Thanks mate. Honestly the name choice was kind of random. I appreciate the compliment. :)

It...it wouldn't be the first time I rescued a young adult from the clutches of insane parents.

(There are jobs to be had around here.  Maybe not library jobs, but tide-me-over-until-i-get-the-real-thing jobs.)

Which is exactly the kind of job you have now. It would just be minus the insane parents.

I'm just scared that I wouldn't be able to get one.

You gotta be brave, and give yourself some credit. Something'll work out, or you'll come up with a Plan B. You're smart and kind and you can figure things out.

And if Plan B, doesn't work, there are 24 more letters in the alphabet, so you can use those plans...

I could probably get you into a training class at Redacted, Inc.  They're always pushing the Employee Referral thingie.  <_<

Well, I went to the doctor to get a general check up, came out with a referral for counseling due to major depression, and a follow up for possibly getting me on antidepressants. Not really sure how I feel about it, since I've tried to hide/suppress it for years, but hopefully this gets me on the right path to recovery.

In late 2008 I packed everything I could fit into my 10 year old car, took my $2k in savings, and moved 3000 miles away to a city where I knew exactly 3 people and had zero job prospects.  Quitting a job to move to a city where you don't know many people and just as the job market is collapsing world-wide may not have been the smartest idea, but my only regret was not leaving sooner.

Being within driving distance of family can mean you are unable to escape the toxic environment they bring to the table.  It may not be right for you, only you can know that.  But such a drastic move can have great positives.  Like, WorldCon is in KC next year, so you'll be practically next door.  The important thing, tho, is to not let fear keep you from betting on yourself.  If you have other reasons, fine and great; but don't let fear alone keep you from taking that first step.

Move on forward! You're doing the right thing and I hope the resolution is prompt!

And I'll be stuck hobbling the next couple of days, because of a leg injury. Why does this stuff always happen to me over the holidays? -_-

Posted (edited)

Ouch. How bad is it?

Eh, it's not that bad. I have to rest the leg but as long as I'm only walking I can hobble my way around the house. Now running or something like that isn't an option right now. It also only hurts a little, as long as I don't strain it.
