iceblade44 he/him Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) Khriss mentioned that there were two places in the Cosmere where humanity doesn't predate the Shattering. Scardrial was confirmed to be one of them. Would Silverlight the second one? Edited December 1, 2016 by iceblade44

She did not said that. She said: Quote It is one of only two places in the cosmere where humankind does not predate arrival of the Shards. I think the second one is Roshar - while humanity probably wasn't created by Honor & Cultivation, they may have come there with the Shards.

Just saw a recent WoB that proves contrary Quote Do humans predate the two shards' arrival on Roshar (I said two since Odium arrived later, he specifically mentioned all three) Humans were on Roshar before Honor, Cultivation, and Odium arrived. Yata he/him Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 New question: Whatever the Old Magic actually is. Is the modern use of it, the same of its original purpose ?
Jondesu he/him Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Does Hemalurgy allow Harmony to speak with and keep track of Kandra who travel off of Scadrial?

We know Hemalurgy works anywhere in the Cosmere, and since that "flaw" is an underlying principle of Hemalurgy, I would expect there's a decent chance it'll work no matter where they are.

Ruin wasn't "trapped", his simply be invested in Scadrial prevent him from travel away from it...From what we saw, Ruin (and In this case Harmony) had to extend some of his mental presence to the people he wants to influence (not necessary a great amount of his attenction). I don't really think He may speak with someone out of his "standard range"....Maybe he may have a feel about where the Hemalurgy's users are, but I don't think He may start a conversation with them

Harmony would have more reason to talk to Kandra off-world, too, so it would be worth the effort if it's possible.
Djarskublar he/him Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Plus without direct conflict with another shard, he may be able to communicate better. In the other hand, the forces working to limit his knowledge may make it so he cant communicate effectively outside the system. 1
Jondesu he/him Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Did the fabrial used to revive Szeth have a spren trapped in it?

It's implied in the text that Soulcasters don't, if not stated outright (I'd have to look). That's part of why no one knows how to make new Soulcasters now; they don't know how they were created.

Emerald101 he/him Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 About how many breath's worth of investiture would it take to create a gram of Atium? Would it be the same for Lerasium? How long would a gram-sized piece of atium last when being burnt, assuming no flaring? Note: I asked at BYU signing what a unit of investiture would be (maybe something Khriss uses) and he RAFO'd on the canon term for it but said that for 17s shard purposes we could assume it would be based around the breath.

The Atium question is something I've wanted to know for a couple years now. The WoB there is interesting. You should post it in the event thread for reporting purposes so people actually see it.
iceblade44 he/him Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Is Vasher older than Khriss. The reason i ask this because from a recent WoB its seems Vasher and the other Five Scholars were apparently early Cosmere scholars and were some if the first. The thing i find intriguing about this is that as of Warbreaker Vasher and co can't be any older than 500 because of Vo. White Sand in the other is one of the earlier Cosmere stories, happening before Elantris.

I think there was some confusion about whether Brandon meant "the Five Scholars" or just Nalthian scholars in general, but I don't know if I've actually seen the WoB itself, so I'm not sure.
iceblade44 he/him Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 (edited) Quote Q: Okay, are they known to the people on Silverlight? Brandon: Yeah, yeah. Q: Like, does Khriss know Vasher? Brandon: Um, know Vasher is a different question than know of Vasher. Yeah, but they are widely regarded as early cosmere scholars. Q: Aw, Cool! Brandon: Yeah, they are pioneers of this sort of stuff. Edited December 9, 2016 by iceblade44 Trying to fix size, damnation mobiles
Pagerunner he/him Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 So, we got a good number of answers during the AU signings. I went and commented a bunch of them in, and I noticed there was still a good bit of stuff left over that has been answered in Secret History. How often does this list get updated? I think it could get trimmed down. Also, @Chaos, if I may make a suggestion as to organization. There were a lot of questions in the Cosmere subsection "Shards and Magic" about how different magic systems would interact. I'd recommend making a new subsection for them, "Conflux," or something similar, and let the "Shards and Magic" section have questions more like "Can a Shard Invest in a Star?"

Argent he/him Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I think @WeiryWriter makes updates occasionally?
