Haradion Drogon Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Did Kelsier continue to exist and influence events (holding preservation for example) by existing in Shadesmere? (Assuming he says yes) Is he at that point, in a vein similar to the Spren or the Stormfather? Could Kelsier exploit the Nahl Bond as if he were a spren?
Asperity he/him Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) Has Hoid been to every Shardworld? Is there a stronger Shard-pairing than Harmony? (In general, not currently or anything) Is there a reason outside of personal preference as to why Mistborn will be the 'main' Cosmere series? Will there be a Shard based off Conviction or Integrity? Are any Heralds a previous Shardholder? I would ask why only a specific part of the universe is under the effects of the Cosmere but the universe is incomprehensible in size so it's probably a stupid question. The bit about Vin was mentioned in an annotation because he had gotten into a discussion with a reader who had wanted things to end all happily with everybody surviving which is a bit unrealistic to expect. bschnebs he/him Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Are Shards able to travel (specifically, planet-to-planet) without a Holder? With the exception of Honor/Devotion/Dominion, are there any Shards currently without a holder? I stole your questions to ask at his Tucson signing. First I have to say thanks, your questions got me two cards. A Szeth card with a code and a RAFO card. First question, his answer was that it is possible for shards to travel between planets without a Holder, but extremely unlikely. Without a holder (he called it an intelligence), the shard would have no impetus to travel between worlds because they're just there. Second question I changed slightly and just asked him "How many shards are there that don't have holders?" That's the one he RAFO'd
Arcanist he/him Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Are there any Surgebinders who can use all of the ten surges (like mistborns in case of Allomancy)?
WeiryWriter he/him Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 What would the Willshapers think of Adolin's actions at the end of Words of Radiance?
semper_sursum Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) 4 questions: 1. How was Shallan able to use Pattern as a Shardblade to kill her mother before ever speaking the Immortal Words, or the truths that bound them together, and it took Kaladin until the 3rd Ideal to be able to use Syl as a Shardblade? 2. The Letter states that, "Rayse, on the other hand, was among the most loathsome, crafty, and dangerous individuals I had ever met. He holds the most frightening and terrible of all the Shards...One need only look at the aftermath of his brief visit to Sel to see proof of what I say."Was Rayse the cause of the Reod on Sel that caused the chasm and the Incomplete Shaod? 3. Shallan is a Lightweaver, so has the surgebindings of Illumination and Transformation. Jasnah, as a Elsecaller, has Transformation and Transportation, allowing her to enter Shadesmar in the flesh. How was Shallan able to enter Shadesmar without the use of the Transportation Surge that Elsecallers and Willshapers have? Jasnah chided her for entering with only one sphere, so does that mean that anyone can enter Shadesmar, assuming they possess the requisite amount of Stormlight? 4. For Worldhoppers and Shards alike, how long does it take to travel from one world/planet to another? Is it a kind of space travel through the physical realm, or a more instantaneous travel via cognitive/spiritual realms? Edited March 17, 2014 by semper_sursum

Kurkistan he/him Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) 4 questions: 1. How was Shallan able to use Pattern as a Shardblade to kill her mother before ever speaking the Immortal Words, or the truths that bound them together, and it took Kaladin until the 3rd Ideal to be able to use Syl as a Shardblade? Shallan's thoughts indicate that she at least spoke the First Ideal, and Brandon has talked about how Pattern "withdrew" after Shallan started getting all lie-to-herself. EDIT: Better WoB: Source: Q: If Pattern hadn't been fully pulled into the physical realm, how did Shallan use his shardblade form six years ago? Brandon: He had been much closer to Shallan in the past, and Shallan almost gave up her oaths/ideals, but she did not completely reject him the way Kaladin had done to Syl. 2. The Letter states that, "Rayse, on the other hand, was among the most loathsome, crafty, and dangerous individuals I had ever met. He holds the most frightening and terrible of all the Shards...One need only look at the aftermath of his brief visit to Sel to see proof of what I say." Was Rayse the cause of the Reod on Sel that caused the chasm and the Incomplete Shaod? Kind of. Odium visited Sel long before the events in Elantris (he was the cause of the Seons/Skaze showing up), but the chasm/Reod were likely the consequence of some weird magical buildup that happened because of the Splintering he did. I believe one of the epigraphs from the in-world WoR speaks to this, how the Elsecallers were the best at Shadesmar. One thing to help your theory is that even Kaladin gets a glimpse of Shadesmar when he first uses the Basic Lashing. 4. For Worldhoppers and Shards alike, how long does it take to travel from one world/planet to another? Is it a kind of space travel through the physical realm, or a more instantaneous travel via cognitive/spiritual realms? We know that Hoid uses Shadesmar (can't recall the link, sorry); you might want to know that space without people is "contracted" in the Cognitive realm. Edited March 17, 2014 by Kurkistan
Asperity he/him Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Is Harmony the most powerful duo of Shards out of all sixteen? If not, is the strongest duo comprised of Shards that we have seen so far? I don't know if "most powerful" or "stronger" would be the correct phrase so I went with the former because it's more open-ended.
Seloun Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 In the TWoK endsheet, every Order has a connection to their opposite and the two adjacent orders. However, 4 of the orders (Windrunners, Edgedancers, Lightweavers and Stonewards) have an 'extra' connection. Is this connection indicative of something special about those Orders?
Awesomeness Summoned he/him Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Is Harmony the most powerful duo of Shards out of all sixteen? If not, is the strongest duo comprised of Shards that we have seen so far? I don't know if "most powerful" or "stronger" would be the correct phrase so I went with the former because it's more open-ended. Harmony is currently the only combined shards we know of. I don't know where it was but Brandon has stated Harmony is the strongest in raw power as a result but the mixture of the two intents creating Harmony prevents him from acting much. It is likely other shard combinations would be more... effective... but it's all speculation until other shards have been combined.

DoctorWh0m he/him Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) What types of Allomancers/Feruchemists can burn/use the god metal (atium and sazedium) alloys: Mistings/Ferrings of the alloyed metal, god metal Mistings/Ferrings, or only Mistborn/Full Feruchemists? Or are there Mistings/Ferrings for every metal? Can a post-Final Ascension Mistborn even burn atium? If you are completely set on a course of action, do you still have multiple electrum shadows? Do you only see one if burning both electrum and atium? What is included in a Oracle's shadows; if they are holding something, does it appear? What if they are holding a person? Is there a limit on the amount of Stormlight a person can hold at one time? If a Skimmer gains proportional strength to deal with their increased weight, is there still a point where they will be crushed? Does a Firesoul gain increased resistance to heat in the same way? Is Wyndle a cultivationspren? Can a Firesoul store the heat generated by friction? If a Bloodmaker can heal a Shardblade wound, could they (with enough stored health) heal their Allomantic abilities being stolen? Is there an upper limit of damage that a Compounding Bloodmaker can endure? If they were Lashed downwards into a pulp, would they be able to heal? Can an Allomancer burning metals be lashed? Can a Feruchemist tapping their metalminds? Can a Nalthian? Can a Leecher destroy metals that are outside a body? Does an Allomancer burning aluminium have an atium shadow? Are they affected by time bubbles? What, exactly, does a Steelrunner store? Is it a combination, like with Skimmers? Does it store (with all its associated parts) the Cognitive idea of speed? Are there speedspren? Weightspren? Can a Trueself with their Identity completely stored use a command phrase to take Breaths? Is it even possible to store all of one's Identity? Can this cause mid-life crises? Does an Allomancer, post-Final Ascension, know that they have snapped? Would a bendalloy-atium alloy make the burner, and only the burner, exist in fast-time? Purely out of curiosity, if atium does swap around the Internal/External-ity of a metal, how would Internal Steel work? Would the Enhancement metal alloys just work like their Internal/External counterparts? In the same vein, is there a consistent effect when alloying a metal with a god metal? Is the new power related to the original one? Is Forging end-neutral? Does a Drab have any Innate Investiture? Edited March 19, 2014 by DoctorWh0m 2
Chris_from_Warrenton he/him Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Hi all. Going to my first signing in DC tomorrow (March 20, 2014), and so I am trying to prepare some questions. I plan to ask the question about whether Nightblood could be fueled by Stormlight. Some other questions for consideration: - Can you Soul Forge a person without their willing participation? She does it to herself and to an incapacitated emperor - we haven't seen it done against one's will. - Can you Soul Forge a sentient/Awakened object, like Nightblood? Could Shai re-write Nightblood's past to take away it's Investiture .. in effect killing it? - If a person can enter the Shadesmar, is that a first step to becoming a Worldhopper?
Argent he/him Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I believe you can Forge somebody else, but you need to know them really well - and, as you saw with Shai, you most likely need to experiment a lot. I doubt your unwilling subject will cooperate in the tests - unless you have the bound or something. Sentient objects... I'd probably treat them the same way as other people, though not as complex. Much of what Nightblood is all about is "Slay evil." So you would need to figure out how that Command relates to his nature, and you are mostly done. Unless the stupid amount of Investiture it has interferes with the process - which is very likely, considering that we know that different Investitures don't play nicely with each other (e.g. you need to be stupid powerful to Steelpush a Shardplate).
Kurkistan he/him Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Also, we have an answer that Nightblood can be fueled by Stormlight. It's the canonical example of cross-magic fueling, actually.
masaru Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I've never seen actual confirmation about the WOK letter recipient/WOR letter author being a dragon. There seems to be only one reference to this and it was a "a friend told me BS said this at a signing," IIRC. So can we get an actual confirmation on this question from a WOR signing?
corwin01 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Does Hoid have a Dawn Shard? If not (or RAFO), does he want one?
Moogle Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Kaladin is out in a highstorm and his Stormlight reserves burst alight. Why does he not keep getting Invested until he explodes? Is it harder for the Stormlight to keep entering him, like trying to compress more and more stuff into a small box? Does he unconsciously keep himself in equilibrium by expelling Stormlight as the storm infuses him?
PorridgeBrick he/him Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 (edited) This probably has something to do with Kal's wineskin comment. The more Stormlight you have, the faster it's lost, until it gets to the point where you lose it faster than you can be invested. Edit: New Question: Is Reya someone on Ashyn? masaru Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Is Dragonsteel a prequel to all the events in the cosmere? Will the 3rd Mistborn Trilogy be the finale of the cosmere? Will all Shards be featured in their own books/stories before cosmere finale?
Argent he/him Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Pretty sure Dragonsteel is a prequel of some sorts. Liar of Partinel takes place before it though. 1
masaru Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 That's sort of the part that confuses me. Also, WOB was that the Shattering doesn't take place in Dragonsteel. Aside from my other questions, I'm wondering what the purpose of Dragonsteel will be. Seeing Shards taken by Yolens sometime after the Shattering? With all the focus on SA, Mistborn trilogies, and sequels, I'm also wondering where the other 7 or so Shards will find time to shine? Will they get books we know absolutely nothing about? Or will they show up in the space opera Mistborn?
