Haha, sorry for the inactivity. You'd think the holidays would mean more spare time. <_< I know I'm going to die, but hey, at least it'll serve a purpose. Look at the CC who voted for me.

Station 9: The Night Reigns

The eight solemn passengers moved onwards through the darkness of night, heading closer and closer to the grand city of Elendel.  Now that they were all awake, wary that there was still at least one Clan member left, with Everton Slade’s last comment before he died, the passengers could see the bright city growing larger and larger.

Just over 3 miles from the 4th Octant of Elendel, by the 3rd-4th Canal, The Steelway Express stopped for what seemed to be the millionth time.  This time, there actually was a boarding platform outside, leading to a suburban town.  Surely Gavin wouldn’t kill one of them on board here, where he’d wake up half the town, right?

“Wakey, wakey!” Gavin shouted to the drowsy passengers.  “We’re not finished yet.  I’ve said this dozens of times, and you’re not getting off ‘til the very last Coinshot on this train is dead!”

“What if we don’t want to help?” Bortholemew the Blind growled, though he couldn’t see Gavin, and was speaking to one of his fellow passengers.  “There’s only eight of us left!  Eleven innocent passengers have ended up dead now, many by your hand!  This is ridiculous!”

Several of the other passengers -- those who were not half-asleep -- nodded and cheered Bortholemew on.

“So be it,” Gavin said.  He walked up to the blind man and slapped him across the cheek.  The car fell silent.

“You… you scum!  You wretched low-life!” Penga yelled at Gavin.  “You’ve taken enough of our lives in your little game, trying to find the Coinshot Clan, who, might I remind you, probably wouldn’t be attacking us if you’d have just let them rob the rusting train!  I’ve had enough!”  Penga stood up, and gestured for her fellow passengers to do the same.

Gavin yawned, and pulled out his gun.  “You forget,” Gavin reminded them, “that I single-handedly took down one of those Coinshots at our last stop.  If you want a chance at leaving here alive, sit down now.”

Penga glared at Gavin for one long moment, but then reluctantly sat down.

“That’s better,” Gavin said.  “See?  This doesn’t have to be that difficult.  We’ll find the--”

Bortholemew roared, and lunged towards Gavin, the old man’s long beard smothering Gavin’s face.  The ancient man pummeled Gavin’s face, ripping his hair off.

Gavin screamed, trying to aim his gun, but Bortholemew pushed it away from him, trying to get it to aim at Gavin’s own head.  Eventually, Gavin pushed Bortholemew aside, and quickly jumped to his feet, the gun that had already killed so many now aimed at Bortholemew’s head.

The other passengers gasped from behind as Gavin pulled the trigger.

“He probably wasn’t even a Clan member, was he?” Penga yelled.  “An old man?  Seriously, you’re going to kill an elderly man?  You’re worse than the Coinshots!  Pathetic!”

Suddenly, a bullet lodged itself through Penga’s skull, but this one had not come from Gavin’s gun.  Indeed, everyone was so focused on Penga’s rant that nobody had seen where the attack had come from.  But the deed was done, and Penga fell to the floor as well.

“Six left,” Gavin sighed, checking his gun.  He walked back up to the front of the train as if nothing had happened, leaving the six living passengers speechless.

Bortholemew the Blind (4): Zane Tevison, Nails, Penga, Old Wolf

Passenger.

Station 9 begins now and will end in 23 hours and 15 minutes.  There will be an Assassin available today.  Good luck!

Nooo! Penga!!!

Also, that was an excellent write-up. Good job.

Also, what room was Penga in? If we can figure that out, we might be able to figure out who the killer is. It would make sense that the CC, after 2 failed attempts by people being in the vault/caboosing, would choose someone in their own room to prevent shennanigans.

I can say he wasn't in the Passenger car.

Peng was in the buffet car with me.  Just the two of us.

No one lost a vote, so was Jain caboosed?  If so then he can't be the last CC.

Nobody was caboosed. It was just me and Bort in the caboose so Ren said nobody would get caboosed in a tie. Neither of us voted in it.

Well, the game seems to have changed a lot.  It's a lot scarier with only six of us left.  None of us (myself inluded) have voted for anyone yet.  I'm assuming that is because at this point it is risky to stick your neck out.  We don't know how many CC are left.  If it is more than one, then we are in serious trouble.  But even if there is only one, as much as I have no desire to die, it seems to me that not lynching someone at this point is a bad idea.  Still, the fact that there have been no votes yet makes me hesitant.  This is my first time playing a game like this where there are separate rooms or a vault car or a paid assassin.  If any of the veterans have seen those elements before, are there strategies that we should be using as passengers that would help us?  Am I right that not lynching is a bad idea, or do those elements I am not used to change that in a way I'm not seeing?

The change in behavior (of all of us) is kind of freaking me out, so I'm holding back for now.  I have some thoughts about what has been said so far this round, but I will wait a little bit in case there is a good reason not to share them.  But unless there is, I want to make sure I do say something at least a couple hours before the end of the cycle, so others can consider it.  And since it seems to me that we should vote continue to try to catch CC by lynching, I will commit to casting a vote unless someone gives good reasons not to.  Perhaps it is different because there is an assassin this round?

So my intention is to check back in two or three hours and see if anyone has any thoughts on those things...

No one's really sure of who to vote for- all of our strong suspicions are gone, so people are waiting to see what everyone else says. The CC is also staying quiet, because if he doesn't say anything, he isn't suspicious.

So I'll vote for Jain. He comes on right before the end of each cycle, and at the very beginning of the cycle, but he hasn't really done anything since. This could be him being busy, or he could be trying to hide. I know that I switched my vote from him, but we've got to vote for someone, and his lurking is the most suspicious thing I can see right now.

I'm just surprised that those that have been petitioning for Alvron these past few rounds have been quiet.

I'm going to vote for Jain as well, for similar reasons - and his utter silence yesterday in the vault, even when asked to defend himself. Might I also urge all villagers to attempt to use the assassin - if one of us buys it there is a chance we hit a villager - if a coinshot hires him, he will definitely hit a villager. At this stage, we cannot afford 3 village deaths this cycle.

My thoughts:

Zas, Jain, Orlok and myself have all been in the Vault at some point in the game.  Or so we have claimed.  Clanky and Aanwolf haven't, to my knowledge anyway.  The main benefit to entering the vault is surviving the CC kill.  The assassin kill isn't known to be available before a cycle so the CCs have little reason for paying 6 coins for a ticket to the Vault instead of saving up and buying the assassin ensuring that they don't have to worry about a loose kill roaming around.  So Clanky and Aanwolf are my leading suspects.

Assuming no one is in the Vault this round means that there should be two in each carriage.  I recommend that one of the ones in the caboose volunteer to be voted for so that if there is a kill this round then we will have cleared someone if we end up lynching a passenger again.  Even if there is just one person in the caboose they could vote for themselves to prove their innocence.  This would require them to vote to prove that they were indeed caboosed.  Scratch that.  Ren confirmed (via PM) that there needs to be at least two in the caboose for there to be a vote on who to caboose.

Yes, I forgot to clarify this earlier, but in the event that there's only 1 player in a train car (other than the Vault Car), then that car doesn't have a train car action for the cycle.  (Plus, it wouldn't really make sense for someone to give money to themselves for cooking, or someone kicking themselves off of the train. :P)

Well, I will vote for Jain then, for obvious reasons (not wanting to be lynched myself, and believing that lynching someone is in our best interests).

EDIT: I will also point out that if Zas is correct in his assumption, that suggests that Alvron is CC.  I'd like to say more, but I have to log off for a while.  I will try to check in again before the end of the cycle.

I am personally more suspicious of Old Wolf then Jain. So I will put my vote on him. Also Orlok your post saying Jain was maybe in the Vault as a CC hiding from the Assassin is silly considering you also went into the vault car.

Posted

I'm going to do some analysis on here, but I won't be able to until this cycle closes.

But keep in mind that it's possible there's 2 more CC, not just 1.

Is anyone getting caboosed this cycle? If so we could use the assassin (should a passenger get it) to kill the whichever of Jain/Aanwolf isn't lynched. If we don't know then it will just be random chance who is killed and we will be unable to know who to target with the assassin.

Station 10: Pandamonium

The six remaining passengers were all very much awake as The Steelway Express grew nearer and nearer to the bright city of Elendel.  One of the ones among them was a killer, they knew, and as much as they all wished to defy Gavin’s request, they figured that killing them once and for all would give them the best chance at surviving this scenario.

“Jain’s been pretty quiet lately,” Zane noted.  “Coming up with any schemes over there, Mr. Panda?”

Jain shrugged.  “Oh no, I’ve just been thinking of how suspicious Old Wolf has been recently.”

“Me?” Old Wolf asked, raising an eyebrow.  “I’m not seeing very convincing evidence there, pal.”

“We all have to survive here,” Jain whispered to Old Wolf, so that nobody else could hear.  “It’s not going to be me getting shot by Gavin next, so it’ll have to be you.”

Old Wolf scowled at Jain, who moved back to his position.  “That’s does it!” Old Wolf said.  “If Jain’s not the killer, then I’ll eat my shoe!”

“I’ll take that bet,” Nails said, with Doctor McNinja nodding beside him.  “Frankly, it’s been a long day, and I’d love to see someone eat a shoe.”

“Figure of speech,” Old Wolf muttered, rolling his eyes.  “Nevertheless, I agree with Zane and Locke here.  Jain’s up to something.”

Gavin burst into the passenger car, gun in hand.  “Let’s make this quick,” Gavin declared.  “Who’s our Coinshot?”

Zane, Locke, and Old Wolf pointed towards Jain, while Jain, Doctor McNinja, and Nails pointed towards Old Wolf.

“Gah, I have no time for this!” Gavin growled, and shot Jain.  The panda-man fell to the ground, becoming a blob of jelly-like flesh.  The blob seemed to look up at them, then crawled to the back of the passenger car.

“It’s one of the Faceless Immortals!” Zane gasped, pointing at Jain.  “What do we do?”

“We let Old Wolf eat his shoe,” Nails said.  “If one of Harmony’s hands ended up being the killer here, then I’ll eat my shoe!”

“Enough with the ingestion of clothing!” Gavin shouted.  “We have a… I’d say, pretty important situation to take care of, so is this really the time for that kind of humor?  Jain wasn’t the Coinshot, so that means one of you is.”  Gavin pointed his gun at each one of them in turn.

“Might as well kill us all…” Locke muttered under his breath, but nobody heard.  They did, however, hear the sound of a gunshot immediately afterwards.  Everyone turned to see Locke dead on the floor.  Gavin sighed, gesturing towards Locke to prove the severity of their situation.

“Any minute now,” Gavin said, “we could all end up dead.  So before we reach our final station in Elendel, I want you to tell me… who… is… the… last… murderer?” Gavin tried to squeeze as much irritation and anger as he could muster into those last few words, before spinning around and returning to the crew cabin.

The Steelway Express finally rolled through the city boundaries of Elendel, but while they were so close to home, they were so far from freedom.

Vote Tally:
Jain (3): Zane Tevison, Locke, Old Wolf
Old Wolf (3): Jain, Doctor McNinja, Nails

Jain was lynched!  He was a
Passenger.
Locke was killed!  He was also a
Passenger.

There was no Assassin kill today!
(Also, a reminder: the Coinshot Clan will win once their number of survivors is equal to or greater than the number of remaining Passengers.  Which means that there’s only 1 Coinshot Clan member left.)

Station 10 begins now and will end in 23 hours and 18 minutes.  There will not be an Assassin available today.  Good luck!

Crap! I had Orlock as one of my confirmed goods. That means that this is probably our last round. So who is it? Alvron? Aanwolf? or Clanky? Time to go into the notes....

Posted

Zas has been acting suspicious as the number of players have decreased. He seems to be doing kind-of how I did when I was first an eliminator. He did focus a lot on Neo and that is a point in his favour.

Aanwolf was who I was most suspicious of during the past two cycles. He only voted for an eliminator once(bridge boy) and that was after the lynch was set. He seemed semi-defensive of Neo during the Neo-Bort debate and never had a vote on Neo at all. If I use my assumption of the passenger car in station 5 being clean then he is the only possibility as the last CC. (This assumption is based on Alvron being a passenger and getting attacked while in the vault car). He did do some cool mathematical analysis on potential CC placements.

Alvron,I was most suspicious of until you were in the vault car when the first CC attack failed. I used this to form my assumption about their being a clean car that cycle. However since then other CC attacks have failed for various reasons so I am not so sure about this anymore. You were the only one a car with Penga when Zas made a good point about the CC potentially targeting within their own car. Didn't vote for any CCs except for Gamma and that was mainly a poke vote. I am still not sure about you using knowledge of the rules to try and trap people. Also this point is a bit iffy but one reason for me being alive this long is that I told Alvron I thought he was innocent so he wouldn't need to kill me if I didn't suspect him.

As of right now I am leaning towards AAnwolf but Alvron is getting more suspicious as I write this. I am not ready to place my vote yet and will sleep on it before deciding.
