Wblk Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Koem sat at what had once been his fathers desk, poring through the accounts. From what he saw the last thing Sen Wair had done before he'd gone quite senile had been to seize control of some outlying farmland. As such the House had a fair amount of grain coming in, but nothing to do with it. He took a coin in his hand, and Pushed. The coin flew across the room and struck the metal bell, causing it to ring loudly. As the sound echoed, a servant entered the room. "Yes, my Lord?" asked the servant, no doubt one of his father's many messengers who seemed to litter the place like skaa on a field. "Have someone buy a bakery, it's time we cleared out the storehouses a bit and made some real money. My father may have been content with currying the favour of the Lord Ruler and ignoring the other Houses, but it is time we did something." Who: Koem Wair as House lord What: Buying bakeries in Luthadel. Why: In order to turn the grain from farms into food (i.e Goods) When: Action 1 1
Adamir he/him Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) OOC: Not much rping, sorry about that. I'l rp more in the coming turns. "House Farrsolin," Mai began, "is not focused enough. We have Seran, but it gives us no wealth. We have a canal, and a single mine, but those are not enough. I expect all of you to start branching out into new fields of work. My great grandfather left his plantation work unfinished before he died. We will complete his legacy." Mai rolled a map onto the table, displaying the holdings around Seran, as her inner council leaned in to better examine it. There were small squares signifying different fields, and smaller dots to signify hovels. "This is your first task. Hire builders, and prepare the hovel. You need to pitch it just right - make the skaa think of this as building them new homes for them to live in." One of her men leaned forwards. "How... how will this benefit House Farrsolin?" These small-minded men couldn't see the horizon ahead. "Think forwards," Mai said. "The skaa no longer riot, and they are conveniently contained in small hovels. Next, we establish Mennet's plantations, after bringing in our soldiers. We slowly extend the number of plantations over the next few years, bringing in the skaa and suppressing them with Serani spearmen. If none of you have anything to add, clear the room and put the plan in motion." Action 1 Who: Lady Mai Farrsolin What: Trying for an Heir (Male name, Anders. Female name, Len) Also, are you still using the same coin? When: Action 1 Where: Seran Why: Self-explanatory Action 2 Who: Lady Mai Farrsolin What: Constructing two farms When: Action 2 Where: The countryside outside of Seran Why: Short term goal, to appease the skaa. I will turn them into farms next turn, once my skaa are no longer in danger of rioting. For now, I am just building hovels that can be easily turned into farms. Action 3 Who: Lady Mai Farrsolin What: Building a bakery When: Action 3 Where: In Luthadel Why: To convert wheat from plantations into bread Out of character: I've just realized why my order during the last generation for plantations didn't go through; I forgot to cancel the original actions I had sent. That, and I guess I was being a bit vague in my request to loot the countryside in Turn 3. My intention had been to slightly bolster the finances at the expense of the skaa, not burn down the homes of my peasants. Lesson learned: Punctuation saves lives. I'll elaborate more in future. Unodus he/him Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Retleh Uethorn sat alone in his study, lit only by a candle- turning his deceased fathers pipe in his hand in deep thought. Out of all that his father left him, this was perhaps the most valuable. Lord Turukseed had hardly put it down while conducting business, and even though it had eventually lead him to his untimely death- to Retleh it was so much more than a simple clay pipe. It was a symbol of the Uethorn legacy, a physical manifest of the ideals of their house. Retleh laughed softly to himself- who would have thought things would have turned out this way? The entire world had changed in a matter of years- and people were starting to accept this new life like there was never another. A knock on the door snapped Retleh out of his reverie, "Sir, we're running late for your appointment- are you ready to depart yet?". Groaning inwardly, Retleh rose from his chair- he had work to do. Hesitantly, he picked up the pipe again- and lit it. Kasimir he/him Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Kyril Heron #3: Burned LettersDear Mama,I find myself writing to you, even now. I should stop doing so, but Elise has encouraged me to continue. So, here I am, still writing, even now, twenty years after your death. Father never really got over you. I remember the way he pressed the leaves from the garden plants between the pages of that thick, leather book—the one he wrote in.It was the plant you loved, Mama. He never allowed the servants to dig it up and replant it, even after it had become an old, withered thing. Is he with you now? I wonder. There’s little to tell us of the days before the Ascension: the days you and Father rarely speak of. In any case, I suppose it matters little, now. What lies before us is the future.I am worried about this future, Mama. A House Lord’s burden is a weighty one, I’ve come to realise. My worries are only compounded by whispers…whispers of ambitious plans from some of my fellow House Lords.I never wanted this, Mama. I only wanted to be left alone; for House Heron to flourish in peace, and to leave well enough alone. The affairs of other Houses should little concern us. It is, I think, what Father would’ve wanted as well. It was his dream, even in his older years, alone, without you, writing in his study. But is it what you would’ve wanted of me? Trying to find a way out of this wilderness of tigers?Elise.I write to you, Mama, because the pain of your leaving is still fresh, still a new wound. Because of all the things I want to tell Elise, but my tongue holds back. Because even now, I think of you and wonder what you would think of me, trying to run this House, trying to do everything duty demands of me.I think I like Elise, Mama. I don’t know what else I can say. I know love was never planned—it was never part of this entire business, when I married Elise. I think we are starting to warm to each other now. I enjoy her company, Mama. I hope it’ll get better. Give it time, you would tell me, no doubt. ‘Have patience.’ I am trying, very hard. She’s very different from me. She’s strong and sharp and so certain, and sometimes, I wonder which of us is the House Lord. Sometimes, we fight, and then we don’t talk to each other for days. We try to keep this quiet, of course, but I suppose the rest of the House knows.I don’t know what else I want to tell you.I still miss you, every day. I miss your grace, and your strength and your wisdom.Your son,Kyril. 2

Renegade he/him Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Erinald Gardre yawned from his desk. He’d expected many things from becoming House Lord, many of which he wasn’t sure he was comfortable with, but there was one thing he definitely wasn’t prepared for. There was a lot of paperwork involved. “This is a lot of fun, isn’t it, Arduel?” Erinald asked his assistant. “Shouldn’t you be helping with this? It is kind of in your job title, after all.” Arduel Renoux, a lean nobleman who was one of Erinald’s second cousins or something, sighed. “Fine,” Arduel said, taking half of the stack of papers lying on the desk. Erinald looked at the tall man. “Actually, you know what? Do all of the paerwork. I have some important business to be about.” “I am your assistant,” Arduel grumbled loudly, “not your loyal minion.” “Yes, well, today’s an exception. I’ll do some extra paperwork for the rest of the week to make up for it. But right now, I need to go get something set up.” Not watching to see Arduel’s expression, Erinald flung open the room’s doors, and ran down the steps. Sure, it may not have been the most dignifying experience, but he’d just remembered something important, something that would help out the House, and his House’s people. Erinald looked at the two men who guarded the front gate, who saluted him. “I’ll be back soon,” he told them, opening the front door. “An hour or so. Maybe five.” With that, Erinald left the two somewhat-confused guards and ran across the Keep grounds. Erinald ended up at House Gardre’s housing district, a large area of refined buildings that lodged a fraction of Luthadel’s skaa and artisans. Erinald entered the main building, and walked up to the main desk. The man who stood behind the desk was half-asleep, and Erinald had to tap on the desk to get his attention. “Wuh?-” the man grumbled, waking up. Erinald rolled his eyes. “I’ve got a job for you. Don’t think you can say no to it, either, because you can’t.” Erinald took out a sheet of paper from his suit pocket. “I need you to read this aloud to everyone in this complex.” “Uh, what?” the man asked behind the desk. “That’ll take all week!” “Get some help, then,” Erinald said. “Or try to get everyone in the same location. I don’t care, just give everyone the message.” “But… everyone?” the man asked incredulously. “That is what I just said, is it not?” Erinald frowned. “You will be rewarded once the task is completed. Good luck.” Erinald promptly left, leaving yet another individual completely confused and speechless. Action 1:Erinald Gardre is hosting an artisan's fair at the Housing district in Luthadel, to give an opportunity for local craftsmen to show off their wares to the public (the most talented of which will be recruited by the House), and to raise money for the House. 2
Blank Fate Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 "I am pleasantly surprised that Lord Valden has entrusted us with this task." If Shavronne was telling the truth, her stern voice didn't betray the relevant emotion - her tone was as cold as their echoing footsteps as the three of them walked the halls of Keep Artorius. "He seemed keen for us to get started."Maligaro gave a laconic shrug and a wan smile, "Can you blame him? He knows as well as we do the importance of this power... I gather Lord Cyrus, rest his soul, went to considerable lengths to obtain it." Shavronne did not so much as look around at him, and so the second Mistborn continued to talk. "And we are living proof of his success! Isn't that right, sister?" His eyes turned to the third member of their group, who until now had remained silent. She contented herself to smile and nod, as was her custom when her brother was in such an exuberant mood. Shavronne and Maligaro didn't so much as break stride as they approached a team of servants in the corridor, causing them to scatter and weave as best they could as the Mistborn passed. "Do you know if the pewter has arrived yet, Shavronne?" Maligaro ignored his colleague's apparent disinterest in his words, "We shall need to be fortified, if we are using our own bodies as experimental stock. After all, I have seen first-hand what ingesting metals can do to the unprepared body, the unwise mind..." His voice was almost lyrical as he recalled, "Foolish skaa, who were ignorant of the fact that Allomancy is inherited rather than simply appearing from nothing... or perhaps simply desperate enough to advance their station that they would simply..." he looked perplexed, "...eat the metals, and hope?" "It seems unlike you to spend time among the skaa, Maligaro." There was no inflection of a question in Shavronne's voice, though the other two knew that there was one implied. "Hardly among them, my dear," he smiled archly, "They were found by the city watch, half-dead from the resulting poisoning, blood and vomit staining their clothes... I took the liberty of investigating, at the duty officer's request. They made a... fascinating study." "So if we fail in our efforts, we are entrusted to your care and expertise?" Shavronne's voice cut clear across him, "Then we had best succeed." Who: Shavronne, Maligaro and Doedre - three of House Artorius' Mistborn What: Allomantic experimentation Where: Keep Artorius When: Generation 2, Turn 1, Action 1 Why: To expand the House's knowledge of Allomancy and its capabilities 3
Gamma Fiend he/him Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Garek strode through the halls of his inherited keep, accompanied by the clacking sound of his fine wooden walking cane tipped with a skillfully crafted obsidian handle, as skaa workers and laborers running to and fro as construction went underway to rebuild the keep in it's entirety. His father had insisted on trying to hoard wealth and name, producing nothing but wines -- although admittedly tasty -- it was not what sustained a household. And with his big sister Fia out of the picture....Garek sighed, stopping and taking a sip from his handy flask that he always kept on him. It was good wine, even if the name Urbain Noir was a little bit outlandish. So yes, he would benefit from what his father had built, but he would not be the fool that he was and try and hold wealth and title simply for the sake of having wealth and title. Not if you didn't do anything with it.He put his hands to his mouth and whistled loudly, causing him to slightly wince as he was burning tin, and sure enough a few moments later FieDo came bounding around the corner, obeying his summons. He grimaced as the Kandra tried to skid to a halt, but kept going with it's momentum and crashed into a few craftsmen carrying a marble bust of Gamic walking by.Garek winced. Well I couldn't very well have him walking around with the bones of my father.... He had thought it ingenious to hide his faithful Kandra servant -- kept handy and in check with Emotional Allomancy -- in the bones of a giant wolfhound instead. Black, with a big white spot over it's left eye. It appeared to still be getting used to the new form."I swear, never again, as long as The Lord Ruler reigns and the Final Empire holds triumphant, shall another of my kind be so humiliated and disgraced." FieDo grumbled as it picked itself up and padded over to sit down by Garek's side. "And stop petting my head."***When Keep Urbain was finished being refurbished, Garek sent out invitations to all of the other Lords and Ladies of Luthadel, inviting them to come celebrate in honor of The Lord Ruler and The Final Empire. Attached to each Nobles' invitation letters was a corresponding page from the deceased Gamic's private journal, mad ramblings and complaints about their mothers and fathers and houses, lists of rumors and weaknesses that were known, scandals and affairs and all sorts of personal vendettas, all sorts of rebukes and preconceived and nonexistent slights.Sending those was Garek's way of trying to 'clear the air' between the houses, or that's what he told FieDo when the invitations were sent out.The Keep itself though did look magnificent, as Garek poured all of his families resources into the renovations and didn't hold back a single expense. The outside of the keep was an expertly built wall, slanting outwards as to discourage and overextend would-be attackers. The parapets were lined with murderholes, ready for coinshots or stone and obsidian tipped arrowheads and boiling oilpots, as guards and Mistborn patrolled the perimeter.Flying outside the white marble footsteps leading up to the polished doors was a giant flagpole, waving the House Urbain banner proudly, and on the highest pole in all of Luthadel. Garek had flown up there personally and placed the flag. Everything inside was immaculate, with exquisite rugs from the Outer Dominances and tapestries lining the walls, praising The Lord Ruler's glorious victories and rise to power. However, The Ballroom was the crown jewel of the entire keep. Sixteen blazing limelights lit up the ballroom dancefloor, illuminating the sparkling obsidian and ebony arranged in alternating checkerboard patterns. The lights a magnificent rainbow when cast through the exquisitely crafted stained-glass mosaic windows, painting The Lord Ruler's defeat of The Deepness and rebuilding of the entire world and crafting of The Final Empire -- the ultimate tribute. The deep hues and bright colors meshing together beautifully and evoking some sort of reaction from the observer. Garek particularly liked the oranges and purples.Boom! RP! Really sorry I haven't gotten any more in, Wyrm! >.> I know you are taking a good chunk of your Sundays to run this for us, and we all definitely appreciate it! But I do bet you were imagining more RPG, not RPG. I shall try and make sure I get more interactive with my RP soon! Time for us Nobles to come out of hiding! 3
Orlok Tsubodai Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Lord Tekiel sat at his desk, within Keep Tekiel, awaiting the arrival of his councillors. The past few years had been difficult, solidifying his control over an emergent House, and the corresponding rise in ambitious family member, but stability had been ensured. His greatest worry, now, though, was whether his efforts in ensuring the loyalty of his House were all in vain - if these... Kandra... Are roaming around, could he trust anyone in his house? Kasimir he/him Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Kyril Heron #4: Night ConversationsThe glass window was open, letting in a touch of the cool night air, laced with the mists. Kyril glanced up from his work on the House’s ledgers. His father, he thought, had been more than meticulous when it came to bookkeeping. He intended to be the same.He sipped from the hot cup of tea on his desk, and winced. There was something to be desired about the stimulant. For all it helped him feel a little less tired, he could, he supposed, simply have burned pewter.Could pewter even do such a thing? Cause a person to keep on going long after they should’ve slept? The thought was mildly interesting, but he had other things on his mind. He wondered how his father had managed. Certainly, it seemed that the list of things that needed to be done dragged ever on. Managing the House’s assets, attempting to improve their profit margins, seeing to the state of their workers and servants…The post occupied a corner of his in-tray: stacks and stacks of envelopes. Personal correspondences from contacts who had known his father, fellow House Lords and Ladies…he even caught sight of the pressed seal of House Urbain amongst the lot, and shook his head wearily. There was just so much to be done, Kyril sometimes wondered how he’d ever get properly caught up.Because he had to, of course. He was the House Lord now, and so he would just have to manage. The duty was his.Balancing the accounts for the month was tedious work, as he had to check the tables against the records sent from his agents in Luthadel. In the middle of his work, Kyril thought he heard a faint flapping sound. He looked up.Mist curled, outside his window. Cautiously—it was still not second nature to him, for all he’d been reminded countless times he’d been born to this power—Kyril burned tin. His senses sharpened; the mists seemed to reach out, drawn, into the study (his study, now) and turned faintly translucent. He caught sight of a shape, crouching outside in the darkness, as if balancing on air.“Hello, cousin,” Wystan Heron said, smirking. “I’d wondered how long it’d take for you to notice.”He thought of burning bronze, and then changed his mind. It was probably a sustained Steelpush that held Wystan, now. Or perhaps it was an Ironpull. Kyril wasn’t sure. He’d never been particularly good at either metal.“What are you doing?” he wanted to know.Wystan shrugged; an expansive gesture. “Testing Keep security,” he said. “Most of the men aren’t particularly used to us, still.” He frowned. “I’ll have to work on that, eventually. Probably won’t be long before the other Houses come to play.”Kyril pressed his lips together and finally nodded. “Do as you see fit,” he said, and was about to turn back to his work when Wystan spoke up again.“Do you know your wife’s a lot better than you are at this?”Kyril blinked.“I’ve seen her at practice with some of the other House Mistborn,” Wystan said, wistfully. “Compared to you, she’s a natural. Of course,” he added, cheerfully, “Anybody’s really a natural, compared to you.”“Thanks.”“I aim to please.” More soberly, Wystan said, “You know my feelings on the matter, Kyril. These powers are our birthright. And if we don’t learn to wield them properly—”“You know my feelings on the matter,” Kyril replied, repeating his cousin’s words. “I have other matters that require my attention.”Don’t think about it. Don’t.A coin snapped in through the open window. Kyril flung himself to the ground, almost immediately, upsetting the chair. A trickle of gentle warmth at the base of his throat. He pressed his hand to it. It came away faintly stained with just a bit of blood.“God, Wystan!” he snapped. “What are you playing at?”Wystan just looked at him. “It could be an assassin’s coin,” he said. “A thrown knife. A crossbow bolt. Anything, cousin.”Kyril sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. There were two options, he thought. Always two. A House Lord walked the knife’s edge, could not be seen to brook such behaviour. But Wystan was his cousin—they’d trained with their abilities together, for all that Wystan took to them more obviously than he’d ever had.Don’t think about it.“Your objections have been noted,” he said. “And God help me, Wystan, you do something like that again and I’ll see to it that action is taken.”“Don’t note them,” Wystan retorted. “Do something about it. Ask that lovely wife of yours, for goodness’ sake.” His voice softened. “Kyril, we’ve got your back. Lord Ruler knows, you’ve been doing good by us as the House Lord so far. And none of us wants to see this come to an end. Just think about it, will you?”“I will.”With a flap of his mistcloak, Wystan Heron shot up into the night and was gone. The cut was tiny and the bleeding had stopped. He’d nicked himself worse, shaving. Kyril sighed and returned to his work on the accounts. Wystan, he thought, always had a way of bringing up the things you didn’t want to have to deal with.Did that make him a good House Lord? Discounting well meaning advice because it didn’t sit well with him? While he discarded the thoughts as being irrelevant to the task at hand, Kyril knew that the unease Wystan had left him with would not be dealt with as easily. 2
