-People think that your normal face looks like you're scowling at them. This is called the "Death Glare" phenomenon and is almost universal among INTJ's although I have no idea why. I'm not angry all the time. I'm usually not, in fact. Why the heck do people always think so?

I have a similar problem. I don't know if it's just an INFP thing, but people always assume that I am upset. About half of the time, they're right, although it isn't for very good reasons typically. The other half of the time, I'm just confused why they would think that and become flustered, which doesn't help.

Strange. I get that sometimes. Especially on the Internet. People think I am upset or angry when I am unbelievably calm or worst, they think I don't love Adolin.....    That's a new one.

Yes, but on the internet it is easy to get misunderstood, since great part of the meaning of a regular presencial conversation lies in the non-verbal side.

Something that always got in my way, since I always had problems with non-verbal communication. Reading facial expressions was something I was forced to learn as a child instead of something I understood naturaly. It took long to understand why is keeping eye contact with people you talk to is necessary while looking in the eyes of people you don't know from meters away is scary. I still strugle with voice tones and body language at times, even though the obvious hints are fortunately withing my grasp and as time goes I make less and less mistakes.

This is also part of why my psychiatrist though I had Asperger's without doing the test. Although by now few would think I am not just an introvert with little regard for society's expectations.

EDIT: And to better answer Maxal's previous question, I also have troubles with physical contact, a small tendence to obcess with things that interest me, complete lack of motor coordination(is this how you say it in english?) and some other common symptons. I used to be almost a complete fit as a child, but with time some aspects faded somewhat as I developed some coping mechanisms or on their own.

EDIT2: Actualy this whole post was meant as a response to both of Maxal's posts. I don't just go randomly telling people my history.

A: Yeah, I am whatever one that Mastermind is.

Yes, and ENTJ's will rule it.

Thanks for your response. I haven't had time to revisit this thread lately.

I have read (on the Internet for whatever it is worth) it is common for autistic individuals to have issues with motor coordination. It is interesting to read you are struggling with it. Has it gotten better with age? If you do not mind me asking, to which extend does it limit your participation in sports?

I read that question earlier this morning. It also explains why so many of Brandon's character fall within categories close to INTJ.

It is not that bad, really. If I didn't fit so well other aspects, I would say I am only a moderately clumsy person. I heavily exagerated the "complete lack" part. Blame the text-only medium if you will. Edited by CognitivePulsePattern

 Well life is full of moderator clumsy people. One of my school teachers once told me I ran like a clumsy duck   Way to go Champion. Just go and destroy a young teenager self-esteem.

Idiot.

I'm more than a decent runner now  B)

Can someone please explain to me how INFPs think? Most of the tests I take seem unsure if I am an INTP or INFP, but the definition of the first seems closer to me. I just wanted to be sure if I got my type right.

I'm an INFP and I'm not even sure that I can answer that question.  Mostly I think a lot, with a goodly amount of daydreaming to make up stories.  I think about people and the way they interact, what drives them to do what they do.  I can be on one side of an argument and still get the other point of view and why people who disagree think what they do.

Because so much of my thought processes are internalized, I also tend to make some really weird correlative leaps from the point of view of people who aren't in my brain.  "Speaking of <thing>, <starts talking about other thing that is outwardly unrelated but connected through two other jumps>."

As a fellow INFP, I can say that you said it perfectly, Kaymyth. That is exactly how I think.

In semi-unrelated news, I am now craving a YMCA parody with the MBTI types.

I see. I guess I am really a INTP then, but one who cares a little more than the steorotypal INTP about other people... from a safe distance of course...

I'm not an INFP myself, but I'm curious as to whether this description is accurate or not.

Both are accurate to a T for me. Especially the jumping to topics randomly.

Huh.  Here I always thought the sorta-random topic jumping was just me being weird.  (Though I swear it's not really random.  It's my my brain playing Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon with itself.)

Last year, I got ISTJ, and the last time I took it (a couple weeks ago), I got ENFJ, so....you're not alone. :P

I got INFP, but I know that I've gotten a J before and I know that it depends on my mood. :P But I think I and N are me for sure. The T/F, I switch around on, all the time, and the P can be a J, depending on the situation.

In my mind, it's more like everything is interconnected, so I am brilliant at making a clever reference at the right time. The problem is, no one else makes the connection.  :(

That's normal... Most people are near the middle on some letters. I switch in between the J and the P depending on how I answer.

I got INTP once, but other than that one incident, I've consistently gotten INTJ.

Yeah, the biggest problem with binary "types" is that most people are close to the middle of the scale. While I would never be taken for an E or S, and I am sure I am a P, most tests seem unsure if I am an INTP or INFP, as I said before.

You likely are INTP in some situations, but INFP in others.
