Some of the things he said could have actually been good opinions, if he cut out 90% of the filth and actually tried to be nice.

It wasn't what he said that offended me so much as how he said it. If a relationship where the man is in charge works for both of them and they're both genuinely happy, more power to 'em. It's not my thing at all, but people are different and it can work. But he expressed his opinions in such a patronizing, condescending way that it left a bad taste in my mouth.

On topic: I'm happy for a very silly reason. Despite loving plants I'm a notorious brown thumb, killing everything I try to grow. Somehow I'm successfully growing ginger now. Cheers!

(okay, ginger is ridiculously easy to grow, still... I managed to botch some easy to grow plants before)

It really does make no sense. I mean the Frosted Flakes account, on its own merits, would not have been an auto-ban, but it was him and hey, multiple accounts are still against the rules, so we took care of that one. We suspected him for a while.

If this guy really made multiple accounts... when added to the couple of eyebrow-raising statements by the latest profile makes him one of that guys. He's all about engage and enrage. It's a cycle, and only you can break it—he himself might not be aware it's a cycle. You don't want to feed it, you want to make him leave; but you won't achieve it as long you give him anything to grasp, either by engaging him, or feeding his anger by hurting his pride.

The best strategy to get rid of someone like this is not acknowledging his existence. You want him to feel he's not getting anywhere. Confronting him or displaying a reaction is "getting somewhere" by his standards. Next time you suspect him bring it up in private with the people involved (staff, harassed users, etc), but don't do this anywhere he can read—because he wants that reaction. Also, don't give him anything to grasp on, be careful to not leave any opening when you're banning him.

Do something like "You're banned for not complying with the rules of this forum." and end of story, avoid "You're banned for not complying with rules X, Y and Z. In this post you offended user X, and said Y, and made(...)", because this type of person will perceive it as an invitation to argue. He'll think or say "But user X is a wuss! And I said Y, but I am right! I'm only being banned because people here can't handle the truth!".  Let the "No" be final and try to direct any harassed user to do the same. He'll try again a couple of times, but will eventually give up because it's no longer rewarding.

My brother and the older of my two sisters are both reading The Final Empire.

And they both like it.

And then through an unforeseeable turn of events the Reckoners RP was taken over by Twi's family.

I can't see my brother joining—partly because he's so busy with school and work (classes in modern Israeli and black feminist literature require a surprisingly large amount of homework) and partly because writing fanfic isn't really his thing—though my sister might be persuaded. And even if she isn't cajoled into writing, she has expressed interest in drawing Metronome.

It's the invasion arrival of the pug people.

Where was this? I guess I'm thinking of a different thread.

If I forgot anyone, let me know. :)

That harness is cute on him. Does he not have a collar yet, or do you prefer to just use harnesses?

My dogs used to have collars. Then one of them decided that collars were tasty. My dogs no longer have collars.

Harnesses are better for pugs, since their smushy faces usually mean breathing problems. I have seen pugs wearing collars, and they seemed to do just fine, but I'd rather use harnesses.

What kind of dog was it?

In response to Twi because she ninjad me:

Modern Israeli black feminist literature? Or modern Israeli literature, and black feminist literature? :P

In which language?

Modern Israeli literature, and black feminist literature. Though I'm sure modern Israeli black feminist literature would offer a unique perspective. :P

English. He hasn't said what percentage of his reading is translated and what percentage was originally written in English, but he only reads English and some Spanish, so it's all in English.

It's especially interesting since he's a Criminal Justice major, taking those classes because he needed the credits in a specific category. No one expected him to say he was studying for law enforcement when his black feminist literature teacher had everyone name their major. :P

That makes sense.

The dog that found them tasty is half-pit bull-half-ball of endless energy.

The dog that let her eat his collar is a beagle-husky mix.

Oh wow, that sounds like Mollie. Though she's a lot more petty than that. I have to keep Bruce's toys away from her because she'll steal them. Even though he only has a few and she has two baskets full of them. <_<

Chances are a certain percentage of Israeli literature is in English anyway. I would have no idea what percentage though.

That's how he made it sound.

They have their own baskets? That's cute! :)  My dogs just share toys, mainly because their primary uses of said toys are to rub it in the other's face that they don't have it at the time. Tug of war usually ensues, as well as prancing by the winner, because extra taunts never hurt anypuppy.

I'm going to Tucanos tonight and I'm going to consume an unhealthy amount of meat and grilled pineapple. And it will be delicious. :)

For those who don't know--which is probably most of you--Tucanos is a Brazilian grill restaurant that has 9 locations around the US (from Idaho/Utah to Virginia). And it's amazing. The servers bring around platters of pork and beef cooked in a variety of different ways with different spices and give you samples of each (if you so choose. I decline on the garlic-cooked ones because those would probably kill me). They also specialize in grilled pineapple that is gone far too soon after they give it to you. But anyway, you end up falling into this meat-coma that's just fantastic. If you like meat, that is. They also have a pretty good salad and fruit bar, but I don't really go for those.

To be fair, a few of the toys used to be Bruno's, but he's almost 13 now and doesn't have much interest in playing. Barking at the neighbor dogs is his idea of a game. <_<:P But yeah, she has her own toy baskets.

I gather that all-you-can-eat steakhouses aren't common in the US? "All-you-can-eat" sounds rather cheap and off, but I don't think there is a direct English translation of this type of restaurant.

I bet they also serve rice and beans, a foundation of Brazilian everyday cuisine. Not that it's as tasty as all the meat, it's more of a fun curiosity.

This makes me hope there is one round London somewhere (hopefully central)

Chaos, you said a while back that we could see all the evidence if we wanted. Is that offer still open? I'd like to know what went down, if only because it's hard to use forum search to find things like that

What kipper said.
