Now, witness and killer walked together up towards the Greatshell's Head. They had stayed behind as the others proceeded yesterday, and so while some had already begun to attempt the ascent, they still had space to cover to catch up. It also meant they were alone.

Y's heart almost banged out of his chest as he fingered the tiny dagger hidden in the hem of his tunic. It was hardly a knife; more a sharpened stone. It would do. Y stopped walking. Took a deep breath to still himself. And in one deft movement, threw himself at the figure in front of him. They fell together to the wet ground, sloshing and rolling in the mud. Y came out on top, panting as he pressed the sharpened stone to X's neck.

"Tell me," he growled, low and guttural. Desperate. "Where is he? Where is Evinir Cragborn?"

does anyone want to post their reads? I'm struggling because I'm hardly getting a village read on anyone which is the opposite of the problem I usually have where my gut reads everyone as village

I think the conversation with TUC and coder is noteworthy. I also think its noteworthy that we have a bunch of inactive players who showed up just to vote for coder (star, TJ, hopper). it feels very convenient

1. hoid: confirmed village

2. grub: reluctant village lean. I have a bad feeling to be honest. but I don't have much to back it up, the gut feel is less justified then my concerns on others, and I can't just call everyone an elim

now that I'm thinking on it though,  his initial uncertainty around voting coder is a little odd. feels like grub went from newbie -> good at mafia -> newbie in terms of the tone of his posts from C1 to now

3. coco: village lean? I did have a little bit of an elim lean, but I'd need to go through previous posts to figure out why. like grub, I don't think I have much justification here

4. hopper & star: grouped because my elim lean is for the same reason. they only popped in to vote codee

5. TJ: elim lean. same reason as above and also see note on TUC below

6. TUC: elim lean for the coder-TUC-illwei convo. C1 really was quiet when TUC was about to getting voted on so if TUC is elim, then I think that supports the idea that the other elims are not active in thread. and I'm going back to my theory of e!TJ saving TUC if this is the case

@Hoid Slayer if you get the chance, I'm curious about your read on coco since you were thinking they might be elim.

maybe controversial, but unless at least two people publicly offer to take care of favor, I think we should just take the rebuke. I don't want one person wasting their favor and action if we're probably not going to reach 3 favor anyways

I think there's a high chance that a villager grabbed Agreement with Axies the Collector from the cargo hold, but we can't know that for sure

Alright, well, we obviously have reason to suspect TUC so I would probably go after him next

The reason I dislike Coco was cause looking through C1, I noticed she said pretty much nothing. Like… she was there, but not doing anything

However, once I get to my computer, I will definitely take a look at some voting trends and who they implicate / clear as a Coder/TUC teammate

Based off this cycle alone, I believe Grub and Star both had pretty odd reactions to my claim about Coder

Sailors picked their way through ferns and vines. Thunder boomed, and an instant deluge fell on the jungle below. Ignoring the sky's warnings, the sailors pressed on toward the head of the greatshell.

In the midst of the downpour, Wei staggered through the undergrowth alone. When her foot slipped, she stumbled into a demon.

"Stop following me, voidbringer," she slurred.
The blue-skinned man gently guided her to the ground. His eyes were unnaturally large.
"Coincidence, sailor. I'm after that fine specimen you've attracted." Axies the Collector stared over Wei's head. "Yes, it's the largest stupidityspren I've seen in years!"

Wei scoffed. That was a common schoolyard prank.
"Sore throat? And no need for a banker to check your balance." He held up four fingers. "How many minutes do you have left?"
As Wei fell into a coughing fit, Axies revised his estimate down to three.

"At least you'll die in beautiful company." He tilted Wei's head to look downward. "See that? It's like a delicate rockbud."
A yellow flower had emerged from the ground in full bloom. "They wait until the chaos of the storm to extend themselves. Remind you of anyone?"

"I know... I know who poisoned me," Wei realized. "At lunch..."
"You haven't eaten since lunch? No wonder you're sickly." Axies deftly picked the flower and shoved it in Wei's mouth. It squirted a soothing nectar down her throat.
"I can't feel my legs!"
"You won't want to in a minute. Your body's about to die, but you can ignore that temporarily."

Wei began crawling back the way she'd came. "I have to warn them."
Axies lifted a branch, revealing a short trail to an open clearing. "Could you be more dramatic about it? You might call a martyrspren."  
As Wei crawled slowly, her stupidityspren had the decency to disappear.

The jungle ended at the base of Relu-na's neck. The first sailors to arrive had taken cover in the treeline.
In the distance, two figures sat atop the greatshell's head, unbothered by the downpour.

Pladel chewed some bark aggressively. "They're testing our commitment."
"Climbing would be dangerous." Zeek's waterlogged eyebrows fell over his face like bangs. "Waiting out the storm would be sensible."

Pladel turned to her crew. "Listen up! That one's Talik, and that one's the king. Yes, he's a woman, get over yourselves. They want to be impressed. A double share to anyone who pulls that off."
Reluctantly, Zeek shared a similar message to his crew, with more urging to be cautious. A few eager sailors set off to try the ascent.

"Pladel!" Wei emerged from the brush, limbs shaking uncontrollably.

Kol the quartermaster dragged her to her feet. "Show some respect, sailor!"
"I've been-"
"Shove off with your excuses."
"It's fine, Kol," Pladel said.
"I'm poisoned."
"It's not fine, Captain. Without a first-mate, this crew has lost their discipline."
"I told you not to speak of him."
"Apologies, Captain, but someone's got to say the truth. Ever since you killed-"
"Enough!" Pladel slapped him. He dropped Wei, whose body fell hard.

They looked at Wei. A shardblade shimmered into view beside her corpse. 
“Nobody touch that!” Pladel quickly snatched the sword and handed it to the sailor she trusted most, Qian. 

The treehouse in the jungle held a new secret today. The secret of a murder weighed on two girls’ minds. 
They'd watched Qian walk the trail that led back to the ships. They'd seen other sailors follow, asking to see the shardblade. 
Cass had looked away as the men started shouting. Polly looked away when the shardblade was swung. But both had looked back, in time to see a killing blow. 
The shardblade was taken, and the girls knew by whom. 

Plot hooks: Parlay with the king, or investigate these murders!

@Illwei was NKed! They were a Merchant Crew.

@Qianweilian was killed by the sailors (based on RNG)! They were a Merchant Officer.

There was no Rebuke. Enmity is now 3.

I was worried about exponential Emnity. If Coder were villiage and he got exed, then a villiager was nked, a potential e!Hoid could be protected if they have an Officer other than Hoid and kill another villiager. Or just nk Hoid this round to prevent our Emnity from decreasing due to an elim exe.

the “resistance” was anxiety more than actual doubt, but I understand the read.

Sure this round is expensive in the Favor department, but I’d hate to give the elims a free Rebuke. If no one offers Favor I will save my item but I’d rather stay as far from the line as I can for as long as possible.

Im gonna go reread the last two cycles cause I don’t know if I have any reads in anyone.

I mean, yeah, but at least I was trying to be caught up in thread and offering at least a little bit of my thoughts rather than just being inactive. I was hecka busy but at least I was trying?

Anyways I am also somewhat worried about the favor situation. I am unable to provide any but will be going for the boast this cycle so hopefully I can next cycle. I don’t think we should just be giving a free rebuke. We only get three and getting enough favor is only going to get harder as more villagers die (yes, exeing elims will help with this but I don’t think it will be as much as we would like)
