Araris Valerian he/him Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Night 0: A Warm Welcome The campfire is warm, and the s'mores are tasty. Apparently you weren't the only person itching to check out the house on the hill, given the rather lively crowd that has joined you. You swap stories with the folks sitting to either side and mostly avoid getting your hands too sticky from marshmallows as evening settles in. One-by-one, the conversations around the fire begin to die down, and an oppressive silence builds across the courtyard. Who will go in first? The question, though unspoken, can be felt by everyone present. As if in response to the rising tension, the doors of the House swing silently open, just as the sun begins to dip below the horizon. A well-dressed older man steps out and beckons you to come into the entry hall, which is clearly lit. Startled, you rise to your feet, catching the attention of your new friends, who turn and see the man as well. Emboldened by the company and your own itching curiosity, you find yourself stepping forward, your mouth opening to ask who he is, though the question dies on your lips as he smiles and answers before you can even ask. "My name is ____. I've been instructed to make you all feel at home until the morning. There's food in the kitchen, if you can find it, though I see you are already well-provisioned. Similarly, there are beds aplenty. Oh, one more thing. I've prepared a gift for you. My master doesn't know about it, and there is only one." He holds up a sealed box of dark wood with an ornate sigil inscribed on the lid. "Let me know who I should give it to before the night is over." You enter the House first, surprised by how cozy it feels inside. The tiled floor is covered with rugs to either side, and warm lights illuminate several hallways that turn off into unseen parts of the building. The ceiling of the room seems a bit too high to leave space for the second-floor windows you saw from outside, but it's hard to tell for sure. Your companions file in around you, each as anxious to take a look around as you are. The butler departs down one of the many passageways, mentioning some business he has to take care of. As he turns a corner out of sight, the thought crosses your mind that you can't remember his name. That's odd. You were certain he introduced himself. Oh well. Time to see what secrets this old place is hiding. Some folks are pairing up, but you want your first discovery all to yourself. In the now-empty entrance hall, the doors swing silently shut. Night 0 has begun, and will end at 8PM Pacific Time on Saturday, April 18. GM PMs will be going out, but as of now they don't contain any player specific information. PMs are open, but must be 1-1, and should also include myself, @coco.pudding, @little wilson, and @|TJ|. The thread for this cycle is RP only, but PMs can be in or out of character as you prefer. Don't forget to submit your exploration order and your gift vote before the end of the Night. He looks around, and despite the lights around, things seem dark. At the end of the room, stairs led up and down. Where to first?
StrikerEZ he/him Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Variel had not ventured outside in quite some time. It seemed there were many new people in the town since the last time he had really interacted with anyone outside. Well, best be on with it. He spun around to face the crowd of people before they could disperse. “As a long time resident of this here town,” he said, “I think all of youse people should tell the Mr. Butler fellow to give me the gift. Clearly I am most suited to being bequeathed such an important relic. We wouldn’t want it falling into any…dastardly hands.” With that, Variel turned around to explore this strange house that was totally not haunted.
Myst He/Him Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Brax smiled, absently flipping through his 19 cards. He didn’t really know the others too well, but some of them seemed nice. He looked at the deck in his hand, quickly shuffling it before flipping the top card. Rogue. It seemed some exploring was in order
Through the living Wahr He/Him Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Warren was quite suprised how many strange people were around with him in order to explore the House, he didn't understand why they were here, he didnt really knew why he had come here, something inside him told him this was important and so here he was. As one of the People started to argue why the Gift of the Buttler should go to him, Warten retorted "You say you have been around quite long but I havent seen you before, so why should I trust you over people I actually know? Also I never give presents to people who ask for them." he said before entering the House, maybe he would find something interesting and maybe even the reason why he was here.
Myst He/Him Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Brax went over to the staircases, peeking up and down. He wasn’t sure which to go down yet. The Rogue hadn’t told him that, just told him he should. Some people seemed to be arguing over the gift the butler had mentioned. Brax didn’t really care too much about it. He didn’t know these people, so it hardly mattered which stranger got it. It was what it was though, and Brax was here to get his final card. He shuffled the 18 cards in his deck, where would the Void card be?
Divergent He/Him Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Archie entered the House and couldn't help, but look amazed as he scanned the interior from left to right, top to bottom. He wasn't born with a silver spoon, so sights like these were far from what he was used to. As he observed the room, the thought that persisted in his mind was that it was... excessive. Too many rugs. Too many lights. Too many hallways. Too tall a ceiling. Too wide a space. Did the rich live like this because they could afford to throw away so much money? He felt a little resentful because it never felt like life was ever fair. As he continued to survey the entrance, he took note of particular items that seemed valuable, exit points, and any devices that may be used for surveillance. After all, he was here for the greatest heist of his life yet.

Those s'mores were really good... After a moment of indecision, Randal went back outside to get another s'more before re-entering.
Verdance he/him Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Harley looked up into the bowels of the house. He had seen a balcony from outside, with a rocking chair, which would be an excellent place to see the stars. He is immediately drawn towards the stairs. Who knows, maybe there’s an attic with a corpse in it or some other fun thing.
Doc12 Posted April 18 Posted April 18 (edited) "Well well well," Verna breathed, taking in the house. On the outside, decay and ruin - on the inside, tapestries and velvet. "Aren't you a deceitful little thing?" She walked to a tapestry, vivid reds and bright gold depicting another house. One in another time and place, but perhaps not so different after all. The other explorers had spread out into individuals, some questing upwards, some further into the house, some hunting for the basement entrance. A feeling that most would call foreboding swept over her. Madness and terror lay in the wings, like moths under wallpaper. Verna called it 'anticipation'. All her life she had searched for that which lay just behind the skin of the world. Her mind a moth fluttering in the darkness seeking for that Light that would show the world for the pale translucent thing it was. Perhaps she would go mad. Perhaps she would finally see true. Stardust She/Her Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Mabel stared at the House with contempt. It sure was fancy, wasn't it? Though perhaps fancy was too grand a word. Now, the house Mabel had worked at in her younger days... that was fancy. It had a huge overarching stoneway and a beautiful stained glass scene in each room... Shaking herself out of her reminiscing, Mabel eyed the room. There were several ornate chairs and fancy rugs in the room. Mabel snorted. That was the sign of true wealth. When you had nothing to spend your money on other than seven chairs that looked exactly the same. Besides, the chairs couldn't be all that good. Just because they looked fancy it didn't mean that they were comfy. Plus the food they had offered couldn't be all that good, especially if they had enough for all of them... Never mind all of that. Mabel was here, so she would try to make the best of things. Several of the other people who had congregated before the butler had let them in had already set off into the house. Mabel would join them. Gripping her cane, she set off deeper into the house.

Miss Fallen she/her Posted April 19 Posted April 19 The House felt wrong. K had been fine before entering, but now she had the oddest sensation. It was like before a performance, when she worried one of her yo-yos was missing. And yet, each time she counted, all of them were right where she stashed them in her pockets. The butler, whatever his name was, mentioned a kitchen and beds. It would be good to know where the kitchen was; snacks and water were a necessity. And maybe she could find an office- that’s where the good knickknacks would be. K pulled a black and gold splattered yo-yo out, then flicked it into a few trapeze variations to keep her fingers nimble. This was the kind of House you stayed alert in. And with that, K set off in to the left in search of a kitchen.
