Wonko the Sane's Voting Record:

  • Day 2-A: Archer (But I said I didn't really suspect him)
  • Day 3-A: Doc
  • Day 1-B: Mistfallen (briefly) --> Stick --> Burnt
  • Loop B Dead Doc: calls out Coco, Burnt, and Stick as possible suspects.
  • Day 1-C: Burnt --> Coco --> Burnt --> Coco
  • Day 2-C: Mistfallen (only to cover dangerous edge case) --> Doc --> Twin (only to keep my vote from being useless)
  • Day 3-C: Stick --> Doc --> Stick
  • Day 1-D: Burnt --> Stick --> Doc (and while I missed the fourth exe, I'd been advocating for Coco all day).

Conclusion:

I am a nigh-infallible demigod and none of you should ever question me again. :P

Oddly enough, not from me, because I was moderately suspicious of you all game, so this really didn't feel like a shock or anything. :P

I do believe they’re holding hands
but certainly a possibility, and a very silly one at that

I was always impressed, I'd read your posts, be like "I don't know about that logic" then go through the logic myself to reach the same result :P

It's weird, I always v!read Doc, but at least once a cycle I'd get pinged by a post that sounded super elimmy.

Alv has played a bit (maybe only one game tbh) recently, though he wasn't given the opportunity to use his full power :P

It was my second game, he rolled dice and got 2/3 Elims first try. So yeah, I’ve met him, not since then though

Also, Elims, I spent 3 hours reading the Elim doc. That was long

So for context, Thistle is and always has been innocent. I think they were involved in the Minions of Mischief but in a way that they were unaware of their true goals. All Thistle did was supply the odd herb or bomb flower or so, and maybe run some errands.

So in some ways, the concession in my mind is 1) Just general grief over the loops and wanting it to end and 2)Thistle finding out from Cindra just what they're a part of, becoming horrified and mad in the process, which leads to them jumping in the river, refusing to be part of anything anymore.

I've been considering that when its all over, Thistle begs Ap to remove their memory of the loops. Haven't exactly cleared it with Aman, but I wanted to write something, a conclusion.

This is an epilogue in which that happens. @coco.pudding thanks for writing this story through the game with me! @Burnt Spaghetti as well. I loved our characters.

I'm also assuming here that Zymni does get to go home @Wonko the Sane can correct me if he doesn't think that happens.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Thistle woke up.

“Zymni, it’s a holiday, shop doesn’t open till…”

They blinked. There wasn’t… They could have sworn Zymni was knocking, but the door was silent.

Sunlight streamed through their windowsill through the violets.

Thistle got up, slowly, padded over to the window. Bustling in the streets. The Hero’s Carnival slowly winding up. A smile came across their face. They loved the Hero’s Carnival, this would be Zymni’s first! Thistle couldn’t wait to introduce Zymni to Terminian food, and

Thistle blinked. A shadow of a dream, maybe? Something about Zymni, or the Hero’s Carnival. Some bad, bad dream that Thistle couldn’t quite remember but… an imprint of a thought. Something about fear and anger and… water? Thistle shivered, although the sun was warm.

Slowly, they went through their routine. Brushed their hair, braided it. Washed their face, even though the feel of water on their face was

Scowling, they left their bedroom to search for Zymni. She wasn’t… in her room.

Thistle found themselves breathing hard. Not about not being able to find Zymni, something… something told them Zymni was alright and happy, that they’d… found a way home, but how did they know that? Why did they know that? Yesterday Zymni had been

The little bell on their door rang. A woman came in. Gorgeous, with forest-green eyes, long brown hair, and a nervous smile. Sword at her hip, walked like a fighter, hands clenching and unclenching as if unsure what to do with them. Her eyes landed on Thistle, and she stopped in her tracks.

Spoiler

Safety strength protection Thistle you’re so strong Thistle I’ll meet you at midnight I’ve got something to tell you except she never made it and Thistle saw her

Thistle had never met this woman in their life, but something about her simultaneously made Thistle relax while making their heart speed up. “H-Happy Hero’s Carnival, welcome to Fairy Flowers! Are you l-looking for anything specific?” Why were they stuttering? Thistle didn’t get crushes, their feelings tended to develop over time and with familiarity, why did they feel so… and to a stranger, and…

The woman was still staring at her, as if trying to find words herself.

Thistle fidgeted. “I… I haven’t seen you around Clock Town before! My names -”

“Thistle.” The woman said.

The way she said their name

Thistle paused. “Y-yes! Thistle.” Were they - they glanced around - oh, of course, their name was embroidered on their apron, of course she knew their name.

The woman opened her mouth, closed it. Tried again. “It’s me. Amora.” She paused, scrutinizing Thistle.

Spoiler

Amora

“Amora…” Thistle said, feeling the shape of the name in their mouth, in their heart. “That’s a…very pretty name.”

The woman - Amora - looked away, something flashing across her features. Thistle suddenly felt as if they’d said something wrong somehow.

“I’m sorry, I - … Do I know you?” They said, softly. “I woke up today feeling like… I’ve lost something. Something I didn’t want, but was… important, somehow.”

Amora’s eyes were fixed on Thistle’s. Roaming their face. Thistle would have been flushing at this close attention from a stranger, but…

“N…No.” Amora said, softly, and was Thistle the one disappointed now? Some part of them had hoped for a different answer…

Amora reached into her satchel, came up with a piece of paper with writing on it. “I wrote you a… I…”

Something heavy settled in Thistle’s heart, some strange fear. They found themselves taking a step back.

Amora noticed. Her face, carefully controlled, suddenly broke, and there was grief in her face, and she crumpled.

Instinct took over. Before they realized it, Thistle was already around the counter trying to give the woman a hug. Amora grabbed her and clung on to her like a drowning woman. Thistle felt her shaking, heard a stifled sob. Thistle squeezed her tight, feeling so lost, so safe in this woman’s arms.

Eventually, Amora let go. Stepped back to compose herself. “I’m sorry, I… Thistle I’m so sorry.”

“I don’t… I don’t know what you’re apologizing for…” Thistle said, softly.

“I know.” Amora said. “I’m sorry.”

“You know me,” Thistle tried. “But I... I don’t remember you.”

Amora nodded. “And you don’t want to remember. That’s… entirely understandable. I’m sorry, I just wanted to see you, I just thought…” She sighed. “I should go.”

“No!”

Amora looked back, surprised.

Thistle was clutching Amora’s hand. “Don’t…

Spoiler

Don't leave me again

"don’t leave me again. Please…”

Amora paused, guilt all over her face. "You don’t…you said you didn’t remember-”

“I don’t but I… Something tells me that we were… important…to each other.” Thistle took a deep breath. Screwed their courage to the sticking place. “Give me the letter?”

Amora looked conflicted. “Thistle, this was a mista - I shouldn’t have come here, I should…

Spoiler

Always trying to protect them. Even at a cost to herself

Thistle put out their hand.

Amora pulled out the piece of paper again. Glanced at it. Shook her head, put it back in her satchel. “Why don’t… How about I just… Thistle, there’s a lot of pain in there. I never want to see you in that much pain again.”

Thistle…sighed. Traitorously relieved, almost. But still. “I don’t… I don’t want you to go.”

Amora didn’t answer.

Thistle… Thistle gathered their courage once again. This… this was something they wanted. They walked through their store. Picked out a beautiful crystal rose.

“Hi there, stranger,” they smiled. “My name’s Thistle. It’s the Hero’s Carnival, and I don’t have a d… a da…” Goddess, Thistle! “A date!”

Amora let out a sound that was either a choked sob or a laugh. “What?”

Thistle groaned, they could feel their face glowing. “Don’t make me suffer like this.”

Amora laughed, stepped up, gallant as ever. “Hello Thistle. My name’s Amora.” She smiled, still sad but there was another expression, something like hope, fragile and beautiful. “I’m new in town, and I’d love for someone to show me around.”

“Good!” Thistle’s voice, was, of course, suddenly a much higher pitch than usual. Because the goddesses hated them. But Amora was smiling, and holding their hand still, and Thistle felt, Thistle knew, that they’d been given a blessing, and

They took Amora’s hand - Amora gave her hand a little squeeze - and together they walked out into the daylight of Hero’s Carnival,
