Trusk'our he/him Posted February 5 Posted February 5 17 hours ago, Frustration said: This is probably the most unique idea I've ever had on the shard. It is also possibly insane. I'm not making this to try and code Cosmere characters into Smash bros. That was just the best title I could come up with. My actual goal is to place various cosmere powersets in fights with sharders acting as each one, in an almost RP sort of way. Now, why is this in the Cosmere discussion and not the RP thread? The main reason is that I will be placing all of the results into a massive dataset which I will post here at the end of the event for our analysis. How this will work: Anyone interested can volunteer and will fill one of two rolls: players, or judges. Individuals might be asked to serve in both rolls should they wish to or simply depending on how many volunteers we have. Two players and three judges will be assigned to any particular matchup, each player will be assigned one character, and each player will be assigned one judge to argue for them, and one to mediate. Play will work as so: The player will be contacted via PM by their respective judge and given a character. At this point they are to give a physical description of their character and any resources and materials they have(Subject to review by the judges). This description will be all that their opponent will know about their character before combat begins. Combat will take place in turns that will go as follows: Each player in a private PM with their judge writes out what action their character will take, as well as what action they intend to take next turn. They will also include any supporting information WoBs or other stuff at this point. Both judges will copy the posts into a different PM that will include only the judges. At this point the three judges will debate and decide upon the most likely outcome from the actions taken. At this point the third judge will write up a narration of what occurs which the other two will send said narration back to the PMs with the players Back to step 1 and repeat until one player has victory The lead judge compiles all narrations, edited as necessary and posts it on this thread. When a players intended next action is the action they take on their next turn they are assumed to have priority over the other player. Likewise players are required with each post to include information about all powers they are currently using: such as metals being burned or tapped, current lashings strengths and directions, illusions currently in play, etc. This is for affects like bronze, or other similar abilities. Players using future sight like Atium will be allowed to see what their opponent intends to do. Obviously I cannot do this on my own, so I'd like to ask for your help, which is the main purpose of the thread. We need a minimum of seven individuals but the more the merrier obviously. So, would you be interested? I'll give it a go, friend.

Immortal Platypus Posted February 5 Posted February 5 16 hours ago, Frustration said: Well the Everstorm gives Warlight now, which they could use. For the moment I'd say use Warlight and assume it works the same as Stormlight for all purposes because that's what we have data points for. I'm not sure that's accurate. I seem to recall that they have to ask Retribution for Warlight each day (or week or [insert time interval here]), which implies he could not provide it. I could definitely be wrong though.

You are correct he could decide not to, but once provided they can do what they want with it. And he is providing it already to the singers on the shattered plains. 1

Frustration Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 Our first set of Results are in. Our first battle is a Magnified One versus a Deepest One. Our Deepest One took two Raysium daggers, the Magnified One hid four Aluminum Daggers in his carapace Battle: Spoiler The Magnified one rushed forward, forming a shield with his arms, only to find there was nothing there. The Deepest one simply sliding into the stone beneath. The Magnified One began growing the carapace around his feet, creating large shoes four feet across. The Deepest One surfaced ten meters away, the stone around the Magnified One undulating as it grew over the sides of the shoes. The stone around the Magnified One began to grow, reaching over the carapace shoes that served to protect from the stone. The Deepest One sat focused on their work. Suddenly the Magnified One moved, snapping the carapace from their feet as the leaped the growing barrier and charged the Deepest One. A morning star formed in their hand as they slammed it against the Deepest One's head. Dazed the Deepest One began to sink back into the stone, but the Magnified One was too quick. With a decisive blow from an axe the Deepest One's head was severed from its body. Magnified One Wins More battles will begin shortly, please keep an eye out for PMs 1

The Magnified Ones are like heavy infantry, while the Deepest Ones are more like assassins. It was fun though. 1

Is equipment a baseline portion of the matchups even if it isnt applicable to any sort of outcome or narrative scene?

Did they fail this matchup because they wouldnt make it through the carapace? Is carapace considered living or invested after it is grown?
Adonalsium Will Return He/him Posted February 26 Posted February 26 They do not cut the soul, only shardblades do that. They just weren’t used in this matchup. The carapace is just normal carapace after it’s grown.

Yes Okay I'm seeing this in a few battles so I thought I'd make a post about it. To the players, your judge will give you a description of your opponent, that is all the information you will receive before the battle starts. I recommend planning for other magic users with the equipment you take before that point. I'd also like to reemphasize the example post Spoiler I drink my vial of metals and push myself into the air, using the trick inquisitors use to see all nearby metal sources. Burning steel, pewter, tin, and bronze, and launching a spray of coins at my opponent. Support: [Insert WoB here] Magic currently being used: Steel, Tin, Bronze, Pewter Next move: I plan to duralumin burn steel and launch a metal nugget at my opponent Other than that have fun and enjoy your battles, we should have another one ready here shortly.
