Probably doesn't mean much, but Hadrian Penrod was the first to put a second vote on somebody, even though there were others who hadn't posted or been voted for yet.

Also, Karlin, why is Lucy evil?

I shall reveal my motivations in due time!

@Newan, that was my bad, I usually check for usernames or character names but not both. Its easier to keep track of some character names and some usernames so I tend to intermix them.

I have an idea on how we could find Hoid in a cycle or two but it needs someone who is willing to die.

Hoid won't know the exact wording for the powerless roles so if we can get everyone to message someone their roles then whoever is unable to provide it word for word is most likely Hoid.  If they do go for a power role then it will be easier to narrow down as we would have a list of duplicate roles that the LB knows and we could lynch the sacrifice player to keep it out of Hoids hands.  It would also give the LB several they could trust and allow them to spread the names out so that Hoid wouldn't be able to narrow down on them too much.

Thoughts?

Hopefully Hoid hasn't already found someone who has claimed vanilla and therefore knows the wording.

Sorry guys. That's a great plan that could work. But according to the General rules of Sanderson Elimination, You can't use Private PM's from the GM to prove things.

  • You can't use anything from the Game Master to prove you are a villager, like showing the GM's Private Messages to other players, nor show Private Messages from other players.

In this case, quoting exact words would count. Also, who says I said the same thing to everyone?

Aonar sat in a tavern in Urteau, waiting for his target to arrive.

The woman walked in, unconcerned with environ she found herself in. She walked with the natural arrogance of a powerful Allomancer, and took a spot at the bar beside Aonar.

“Hello, Wilson. Long-time no see.”

“I have no idea who the heck you are. Other than a Terrisman, of course, judging by the amount of metal on you.”

Rust. Wrong time period. “Ah. Long-time till see, then, I guess.”

Wilson was looking rather confused. Aonar figured it was safer to explain things before bits of metal started trying to embed themselves in his skin. “Look, I know the Shard has contacted you. They’re recruiting, and want to take you to Nalthis to collect information. You’re going there because you want to try and resurrect some previous companions of yours.” Aonar paused to let her absorb some of what he was saying. “I’d like some information myself, in exchange for a word of warning.”

“You’re one of them, then?”

“Yes and no. Anyways, do we have a deal?”

Wilson thought for a moment, then nodded reluctantly. “What do you want to know?”

“I’d like to know about one of the companions you hope to turn into a Lifeless. A man by the name of Aonar. Was there anything… strange, about the way he died?”

“Umm, yeah. At first we’d thought he was killed by a parting shot from the coinshot we were hunting, but the angle was all wrong. Someone else was there and killed him.” After he left Luthadel. Not a danger, then. “How’d you know?”

“He’s my many greats-granduncle. My namesake.”

“So you’re-”

“Yes.”

“Then why-”

“The past is changing, Wilson. Every day. New facts in my metalminds that don’t match up with my memory.”

“So, if the past is changing, why do you know about it? Shouldn’t your memory change with the record?” Wilson’s confusion had been replaced with intense interest. Aonar could almost see her turning over the implications, looking for a way to exploit this new knowledge.

“Conservation of Causality. Somehow, my existence in my current state is directly related to the changes occurring in the past, so those changes don’t affect me, as they wouldn’t exist without me, if that makes any sense to you. It’s one of the few things we’ve discovered for certain about time travel. The universe will go to any length to prevent paradox, even if the means seem nonsensical.”

“Hmm… I can’t pretend to understand any of this, but what was that warning you wanted to give me?” Liar. She just doesn’t want me to know how well she understands.

“Yes, about that. Your mission on Nalthis. Turn it down. Go, create your Lifeless, see the sights, but don’t infiltrate the Pahn Kahl. It doesn't end well.”

Placing a boxing on the countertop, he silently stood and left Wilson to mull over what she’d been told. He had more important things to do than wait.

Not much to contribute at the moment, so I'm just RPing for the sake of RPing.

M listened as everyone chattered on, his pen never really leaving the paper unless it was to turn to the next page.

"Accurate counts seems to put the movement of the crowd, as such," he mumbled to himself as he drew out the following table:

Vron (l) - Aonar
Hadrian (l) - Heron
Lucy (l) - Karlin
Damon (l) - Aili
Heron (l) - M

"The general consensus is to avoid killing, unless the target is Hoid. Considering the probability of finding Hoid so early, I'm inclined to agree; though this tactic could have circulated through the crowd due to us getting too close early on. More information is required.

"Initial estimates of the groups' experience may have been skewed. There is likely only one Letter-Bearer, due to the difficulties within the need for multiple, considering the minimal number of subjects. New calculations will require additional information before a new paradigm can be created."

M flipped to a new page and began drawing what looked like doodles, but as they evolved, they seemed to start to develop a pattern. As he did so, he whispered, "So where are you hiding, Hoid? Make no mistake, I have already set in motion ideas and concepts that you cannot stop. In this game you can not win."

M sat, relatively undisturbed, and continued to draw and write his notes while those around him continued to try to say as little as possible.

Damon. Argh! I want people to get on, but I also don't think we need a lynch. Jasnah will already get a vote if she doesnt get on soon, so, she doesnt need this one.

As the day and the shadows grew long, M grew more and more anxious. Something was about to happen; he could feel it. Also, his deductions claimed a 92% chance of Hoid likely growing impatient with them and stirring the pot some. From what he could gather on Hoid, he didn't seem like the patient type.

It seemed he wasn't the only one. Almost everyone, including Heron, had fallen silent, though some of that was likely due to how exhausting the day had been.

M found himself moving more and more into the shadows, trying to conceal himself. After all, remaining hidden and as an unknown element had worked for him in the past. With luck, he hadn't drawn Hoid's attention too much.

He instinctively burned copper, making sure any Seekers wouldn’t sense his emotional allomancy. Brass and Zinc made it easier to convince people of things. He walked among the crowd, wearing his new shape. He was quite fond of it really. Hopefully he’d be able to keep it. His target waited at the gates of ViewPainter’s Palace, like he’d said he would. The Hopper seemed to like Nalthis. But then, after Elendel, it was the Seventeenth Shard’s favorite gathering place.

The hopper turned, and seeing him, waved. Completely unsuspicious. But still. It made it easier to get them alone. “Hey. What did you want?

“I had an Idea, about how to catch Hoid, but I need your help for it.”

“Actually, are you sure we should be catching him?” Hoid burned brass and zinc, carefully manipulating the Hopper’s Emotions. “What if you’re really on the wrong side?”

Jost looked around the room. It had been a week since they’d started the Hunt for Hoid, and so far nothing had happened. A couple people had said that maybe It was Lucy or Hadrian, but no one really paid them much mind. They talked and planned, but only in small groups. The vast Majority of them didn’t trust each other enough to speak their mind openly. In this situation, that was good. With a Shapechanger about, no one could be trusted, though all the Senior Members had been confirmed to be who they claimed. But these 14, one of them was a Mask.

“You’re people are being very Cautious about this. Taking their Time.” An rich, Elderly Voice spoke from beside him.

“Yes, but In this case, I think it would be wiser to move quickly, strike before Hoid has time to gather support.” His spren, Izyan, stood next to him.

“True, but it doesn't appear that will happen for quite some time. But they’ll get him. They’ve thought it out, and they know what to do.”

“Hopefully. Otherwise, well, we’ll be prepared either way.”

No one died, so no new Player List.

Votes:
Luckat(1): Surgebound Rainspren
Araris Valerian(1): Wyrmhero

I still can't believe I forgot to name Cycle 1. And just so you know, if nothing happened with you, you won't get a PM.

This Kandra doesn't appreciate the racism.

So, who would Hoid convert? Considering how he has a limited number of conversions (between 3 and 4), I'd say it's say to say that Hoid went after the more experienced and influential players. Players in this game I'd consider as experienced and influential would be Wyrm, Meta, Malliw, Joe Alv and Aonar. I'm also suspicious of Luckat and Satrams, since both can be capable players. Yes, I've played 11 games. I was a loose cannon in 9 of them, so that disqualifies me from that list.  <_<

From the above list, I find Wyrm to be the most likely Converted. Some scars still ache from betrayal, and once bitten twice shy. You're also the most unsuspecting and thus inconspicuous victim, since you claim to be a vanilla.

Edit: COLOUR

Did this not work for you Jain?

M sat in his typical place, as far away from everyone that he could get and began his transcribing.

"Initial attempts to catch Hoid have failed. Yet, my removal of my voice against Heron, late into the day does reveal much of his motives.

"First, it shows that he is unwilling to manipulate the crowds' perceptions. It could mean that Hoid has little interest in swaying the crowd until he has more influence. It could also mean that Heron is Hoid. Further research is needed.

"Second, this limits Hoid to only two options left, as he had no fear of death from the Renegades or the voice of the people. Either he disguised himself or masked himself as a Researcher. This is telling of how he plans to handle things, going forward.

"His intent seems to be to hide. He seems motivated by his ability to remain unseen. Damon has already shown a desire to remain unknown. Even if he is not Hoid, his presence is of no use to the group and, if allowed to live, will remain a wild card within future equations.

"I will attempt to eliminate such variables, so as to allow a better understanding of the situation as a whole."

Hoid was right. They needed to band together, not to fight each other like this. There were more important things than the petty grudges that the Seventeenth Shard had against him. They had to stop the destructive forces that were rampaging across the Cosmere, and Hoid was the only one who could do it. They had to-

Then Aonar shot him in the back, and he woke up. A hand went behind him to feel for the wound. But it wasn't there. It was never there. Sometimes he wished he could rip that storming allomantic-electrum spike out of him, but it was too late, and in too deep for him to do so. He didn't have feruchemical gold yet, sadly, so it wasn't as though he could heal his body as he extracted it.

But if not him this time around, then who was it? There were so many targets for him to choose from, but which would it be? One of his old friends? Was the delusion of Aonar shooting him more of a vision than he'd care to admit? Or what about Aili? That sword of hers would be rather dangerous, after all. Or the mysterious 'M', who had called him out before? Perhaps Jain, who was so trusting just the previous day?

Of course, that didn't include the possibilities that someone had told Hoid about their specialist skills, and that he had decided he needed those rather than the people behind them. It was just too difficult to say, and his growing paranoia wasn't helping.

Has Karlin yet explained why Lucy is totally evil?

I asked in a PM, and just basically got that it was a gut feeling.

Speaking of PMs, now should be the time for our Letter Bearer to start piecing together intel from PMs and start checking which roles people have if they have claimed it publicly. They should also probably get into contact and reveal themselves to our Renegade, assuming they trust them, since they need the intel badly. Perhaps also getting into contact with the Researcher too, but that doesn't need to happen as long as our Researcher is telling someone else about what they found.

For the moment, I'm going to hold back on voting. I'll see what is said a little later on, hopefully some others will post before I leave for the night. ...They are 24 hours long, right? When does this Cycle end?

Edit: Also, turns out I've been saying gold, when I mean electrum >>.

Jain I would have to say its your laptop, seeing as I've been having the same problems and we have the same make and model.

Have you guys tried changing browsers? I know that the color editor doesn't work on Internet Explorer for me, but it works on Firefox. That might be something you want to look in to.

Hmm... It looks like discussion has crawled to a stand-still. We still don't have much to go on, although we know that 2 of us are evil now. At this point in time, it seems like the mailman is going to be the most important player right now. He's probably going through PMs right now looking for contradictions. Hopefully we'll get a better read on the eliminators after they make their first kill.

I think I'll just do a check on the thread vote. Ashiok, do you have any insight on our current situation?
