She plopped herself on the floor, causing it to sizzle at her touch. She sighed.

"What was your first memory?" she asked him, remembering her and Jidah's conversation from earlier..

It’s first memory? Why, that was of course… huh. 209845 sifted through its archives. Let’s see… going into the caverns. Before that, the encounter with Dazh. Meeting Rhyme. Finding the party in the woods. Receiving a communication from Cloud control, warning it of an anomaly. And before that… 209845’s records faded into static. There was something there; it had not been reset. The memories were just… corrupted. 209845 felt a chill run through its form. That was definitely not normal.

”I… don’t really know. I was created knowing everything.”

209845 had its attention peaked. This being, the great Oxymoron, a Primal, had a… painful memory? It seemed even the greatest divinities were subject to emotion.

Emotion… such a fallible, mortal quality. No, not mortal. A living quality. And 209845… it wasn’t living, it realized. Not in the way other beings lived. It had been taught to believe that emotion was a weakness, that the Cloud was superior for avoiding it. But it seemed that the Cloud was not the norm; it was the exception.

Cloud agents weren’t born. They didn’t grow organically. They never evolved. They were artificial beings, constructed and ingrained with just enough life so as to complete their function. Function. Everything was about function. Efficient, unquestioning function. It was excused as perfection; and yet, standing there in the midst of these beings, mortal and divine, connected by their emotion, 209845 couldn’t help but feel like the odd one out.

209845 took a break from its musing to transmit a message to Lati. Her and Jidah’s forms of mind reading seemed to be different, as as far as 209845 was aware, only Lati could understand its thoughts.

Lati. Be careful. This being is extremely powerful. DO NOT anger it.

Its powers are far more expansive than you can possibly imagine, although I do not believe even it knows their full extent. The Cloud itself fears it.

The Blight… 209845 searched its databases, and identified a potential match. The Blight could be another name for the Dusklands, in which case, this Mountain was somewhere they could very well go.

”Who is this SoW? You claim it is a shadow of a shadow of a deity… a Primal? Or something else?” 209845 was choosing to avoid dealing with the matter of Oxy’s attention for now.

Suddenly, 209845 felt an odd sensation. It began small, but quickly grew. It’s connection to the Cloud, blinded by Dazh, began to rip and tear, as if something on the other side was trying to get through. And the Web… stirred. 209845 felt a chill.

THEY were here.

I think I had Spirit able to read minds for like… a single post

(That may have been Of, actually)

But then I realized that that doesn’t fit his Chaos power profile at all.

Eternity… another Primal. That made two of them on Açila. No, not just that. Two of them interested in this specific group of people. There was definitely something going on here…

“They might try. But I won’t let them.”

It turned to the others.

”Jidah, I need you to make sure the shield is 100% hooked up to the Rift and not any other energy source. Everyone else, try to reduce your energy signature as much as you can. We need to go dark.”

209845 took a deep breath, then turned to Lati.

”I’m going to go into Dark Mode. That means I might be unresponsive for a little while. Take this.” A light orb coalesced in its hand, and it held it out. “When the threat is passed, I will need you to grab that orb. That should wake me up.”
