TwinStorm He/Him Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Final theories for wat with it just a day away!!!! I'll start: Oathpact reforged, Syl comes to Physical Realm and dies Baby champion theory grown up variation. El will betray Odium El will become an Enlightened Willshaper/Skybreaekr 2
coolsnow7 Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Some of these are a bit more off the wall than others, but hey, there’s no penalty for writing down theories I have 5% confidence in. So here goes: - Szeth winds up with Honor and is the Broken One who reigns over Roshar. - Radiant turns out to be Chana, betrayer of the Oathpact and co-inhabitant of Shallan’s body - Cultivation helped kill Honor, on behalf of the Spren collectively - Adolin dies - Syl dies - Moash founds an Odium-esque version of the Knights Radiant, a religious movement based on giving Odium your emotions and thus transcend your human fallibility - Hoid reveals that he’s willing to destroy Roshar and all its people in order to solve the Odium problem - the Ghostbloods get what they want from BAM, and Shallan has to chase them across the Cosmere to stop them from doing whatever it is they want to do 1
teknopathetic he/him Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) 1. The Shin rally and save the day 2. Shallan kills her mother again. Possibly as a battle of champions situation where Chana has agreed to be Odium’s champion. 3. Venli’s mother brings back the Old Magic in some way 4. Tara comes back after Syl declares her love for Kal. 5. Navani dies 6. Szeth dies 7. Rlain dies 8. Pattern dies. Testament comes back and saves the day 9. Mraize dies 10. The Nightwatcher dies. A new bondspren is crowned 11. Honoir’s champion wins but cultivation wanted him to lose. 12. Rlain and Renarin co-rule a new nation. 13. Ba Ado Mishram ends up being pretty chill 14. Dalinar abdicates before the champion battle. Someone else ends up being an okay candidate. I think Shallan but not sure how. Kal has the letter of succession, so maybe he can name a champion 15. Taravangian gets defeated by a Karbrandth call back Edited December 5, 2024 by teknopathetic 2
eriwancoselyn Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) 1. Mraize eventually is left alone to finish off Shallan and finds that he can't do it. Ends up working with her. This is a set up for later books, where they will have formed a Rosharan version of the ghostbloods. 2. Shallan's final truth will be admitting that there's only one person in her and the other identities are just her. 3. The ghostbloods free BAM but she escapes / overpowers them and is let loose into the cosmere. 4. Adolin becomes the champion in the final duel, given how much setup we've had of him being a goated duelist. 5. The line about Kaladin not quite being over Shallan seems very deliberate to me. I'm assuming this means Adolin needs to die but I don't see how that will happen yet. 6. Dalinar takes Odium and Honor, becoming the new big bad for the cosmere. 7. I feel like the death rattle about the knife and the babe is talking about Gavinor but killing him after you already ganked Elhokar feels strange. So I'm thinking he'll become evil / possessed by BAM and that becomes part of her escape. 8. Navini dies. My reasoning is that it would be a huge loss for Dalinar as a newly made shard and would send him down a dark path. 9. Cultivations scheme (whatever it really is) will eventually go awry. It feels like right now the plot will just warp around whatever cultivation needs and we'll be told that she set something up decades ago to make it happen. To be free of this, we need the plan to fail. 10. Szeth will either sacrifice himself or will become the 'homeland into ruin' death rattle, and be made to watch Shinovar be forever destroyed. 11. Todiums plan in the shattered plains will work, massacring bridge four and bringing us to a low point. 12. Vasher and Vivenna are going to get a scene at some point, though I'm not sure how it will go after seeing the new prologue. edit. 13. Some of the death rattles hint at a complete lack of functioning shards at the end of this. The 'three of sixteen ruled, but now the broken one reigns' rattle and the 'above silence, the illuminating storms, dying storms, illuminate the silence above' both seem to point to a lack of gods. The idea of storms dying is really interesting also. As a final cracked theory, I predict that all three of the shards will be destroyed / splintered and plunge roshar into a period of intense chaos. Either that or the three of them combine into a monstrosity that wreaks havoc on the universe, though I don't think that would actually have a vessel attached, cus I've got no idea who in the main cast could hold all three of the shards at once. Kfish Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Taravangian died but Honor stayed alive, becoming sentient. This caused Cultivation, Odium, and the Stormfather to work together to banish the increasingly erratic sapient shard to the Spiritual Realm. Kaladin will not die in the conventional sense. He will either live, ascend, or somehow stay around as a cognitive shadow. Shallan is pregnant but we won't find out until the epilogue as a setupbforba potential viewpoint character for the future kaolin heirs. All humans on roshar have some singer blood - indicated by the strange hair genetics on roshar. Zahel was working with Gavilar as a part of a small secret group ran by Gavilar. He wasn't coerced but WAS tricked by Gavilar hiding that he was also trying to bring back the Fused- not just prepare to stop them. Discovering this betrayal is what leads Zahel to give up on preventing war/possibly somehow led to him losing Nightblood to the Nightwatcher. We will finally see Azure confront Zahel. Chana Davar The unmade heavily influence Shallan's mother and was part of what drove her to trying to kill Shallan. This was set up directly by Odium long ago as he foresaw that driving Chana insane could lead to another return. Cultivation made a mistake with Taravangian. The "cannot see into their hearts" line will end up having a lot of meaning when understood with Dalinars critique of Taravangian wanting to be the one who solved thr crisis. Cultivation didn't understand that Taravangian wasn't selfless to begin with. Kaladin will meet someone new and it will hint at a relationship with them. Dalinar loses but the stormfather is killed first which takes away Dalinar's position as the one speaking for Honor so he's just a Fused Blackthorn without any bondsmithing craziness.
RefusesToElaborate Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Syl murdered by Moash. Kaladins retirement as a Radiant is pretty clearly foreshadowed, he will take a back seat as King of Urithiru, and a surgeon. I have a pretty strong confidence on this.
logicless.bt Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) 1. Stormfather dies/deadeyes, the era of free Stormlight is over, and a perpetual Weeping occurs 2. Dalinar dies/becomes Fused 3. Nohadon is not Tanavast or Dalinar 4. Child champ is true, and not even aged up 5. Adolin is not Odiums champ, this is the character who surprised Brandon 6. Neither Kaladin nor Dalinar end up with Honor (the foreshadowing implies Dalinar will concede the shard to Kaladin, but it's too heavily foreshadowed at the beginning of the book. I think that will be the plan but something unexpected happens.) 7. Syl will become human, this will have the side effect of no more nahel bond for kal 8. Either the Unmade are all Dawn city spren like the Sibling OR BAM is the spren of Roshar itself PLEASE don't quote-respond me on these for two weeks, because I will be out of town and unable to read the book. Lizzardborn Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Taln will be the champion of Honor's side. Mental healing seems to be the fad these days. Swearing ideals brings clarity to him too. He is both the best warrior and the strongest will person humanity have. Also I think we was not actually broken, but for some reason send to Roshar. So it is only suitable that he will it, as the only human Odium didn't manage to break.
aetherbound he/him Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 A few of my final theories 1: the stormfather as odium's champion 2: dalinar becomes the bearer of a new oathpact which holds all three shards
EDPDragon Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Dalinar takes up Honor, but loses the contest of champions, and still being bound to the contract becomes Odiums slave putting the shard of honor under Odium's control
aetherbound he/him Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Two extra theories(it's out, I haven't touched it) 3: El will bond Sja-anat and lead a singer rebellion 4: half of the shard of odium is anti-investiture, creating a shard that is both passion and apathy, but never at the same time 4.5: this also happened to autonomy in some way
