Mailliw73 he/him Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 He could have had a battle axe strapped on his back. TIMEPORT NEEDS A BATTLE AXE Or maybe when Chi says no, Timeport can threaten him with the axe. Would that work? Yes, but there's a reason Chi keeps at least two Chimerans close when he deals with others. If Timeport does that, he might have to resurrect again. A bear with poisonous fangs and a flying wolf are pretty dangerous. There are so many beautifully written, artistic posts in this RP that I feel very awkward when the time comes to write a generic catch-up post. But that is what I'm doing now. (I'm really enjoying all of these Reader and Remington flashbacks. They're incredibly awesome. ) UNRELATED EDIT: You know, I've never traveled very much. I'm very much a stay-at-home-all-day-on-the-Internet kind of person. I've always seen places like "Oregon" as faintly mythological. This game's setting is no more familiar to me than if it were set on Gallifrey or Middle-Earth. Scratch that. I probably know more about Gallifrey or Middle-Earth. But the Google Maps feature, while certainly an imperfect viewing tool, is giving me a sense of Portland's "realness" like I hadn't realized before. I perhaps felt an inordinate glee when my Google-browsing led to me to the river that flows through Portland, complete with a very neat bridge and a sign telling how to get to The Dalles. This only speaks of my own ignorance, but it's like a beautifully in-depth virtual tour of my favorite fantasy setting. And I rather wonder how TwiLyght, who has lived in Oregon before, must think of all the players like me who see the place as a fantastic fairyland. I'm the same way. The closest I've been to Portland is L.A. And that's that's nothing similar. I'm in Utah, so I can imagine somewhat, but the few times I've looked at Google Maps have been very enlightening to Portland's appearance. Mailliw: Remington is in his early 30s. I think I put 30 or 31 in his profile. Okay, so only a year or two older than Max. Sure thing Kobold. Blackwave: Who was it that said Hawaii was ruled by a Volcano Epic? Because I can see a Glorious Rivalry between BlackWave and Volcano. One controlling the Tides, the Other the Volcano. Wow, that's a really cool Epic. I think it's a lot of powers, maybe too many for one, but very cool. What about an Epic named Swabber? He has the power to instantly clean any wooden surface. That idea is awesome! 1
Mailliw73 he/him Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Oooh this has to happen now. After Oregon: What Happened in Hawaii. We could create a whole series! After Hawaii: What Happened in Utah, After Utah: What Happened in Missouri. It could be a 4 part... Epic (Puns aside, I think having sequels and etc. would be awesome) Double post, but I just saw this. Yes. If we do a Utah, mail-mi and I will have the advantage in the area. Also, it's your turn with the Reckoners now, Joe. And Kobold, when is Lightwards going to get to the Sadry's?
mail-mi he/him Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Yes, but there's a reason Chi keeps at least two Chimerans close when he deals with others. If Timeport does that, he might have to resurrect again. A bear with poisonous fangs and a flying wolf are pretty dangerous. So...you're saying it could work ? Timeport goes out recruiting, goes to Chi's zoo, Chi says no, Timeport threatens with the axe, then epic fighting scene with Timeport and Chimerans?
Mailliw73 he/him Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 (edited) I was thinking a quick death for Timeport before his resurrection and then maybe a surprise attack while Chi is unsuspecting. But, yes. We can do it. Edited October 30, 2014 by Mailliw73 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 Don´t give me hopes you. Curveball. (He kind of created my benchamrk for "minor Epic" -> a normal person can just kill them all the same."Lesser Epic" noticebly above human but not high Epics yet, which I defined by their PI but apparently that´s not it. ) To elaborate, while Steelheart mainly focuses on powerfull Epics some of them aren´t all that dangerous but the ones like Steelhearth are more than enough to force the capitulation act. It´s not like Funtimes is only defined by her powers but... how do I phrase this? Her first appearance is being random enough to cause what is eccentially a plot hole, by destabilizing causality enough to suprise someone who knows what will happen. Sure, by now we know that there´s more to her but first impressions and all that can go a far way and are hard to get rid of. (The power level is another matter entierly but I wouldn´t exactly call her underpowered.) I know opinions will differ on this, but I don't think it's a plot hole. Fortuity's powers, as they're written, involve predicting what will happen, as you said. A barrage of machine gunfire, chaotic though it may appear, spews bullets in a fairly predictable pattern, consistent enough to predict where one would probably land (accounting for parabolic rotation, if it comes from enough of a distance). Given Fortuity's enhanced reflexes, he could effectively dodge those. Funtimes, the way I wrote that scene, was equally likely to do two, usually three, things at once. Even she didn't know what she was going to do, moment to moment, acting instead on her consistently changing whims. Now, let's say Fortuity can see and/or sense multiple possible futures. In that scene, he would have seen/sensed Funtimes about to a. turn his cape into a ball-and-chain, b. turn the carpet into a freshly waxed floor, and c. turn his gun into a hamster all in the same moment. How do you predict that? What do you prepare for, when there are three equally likely dangers lurking just around the corner? Never claimed any different. Although I don´t know exactly how Nighthound being a creepy Slonzte that everyone wants death relates to Funtimes effective teleportation range. My point wasn't his personality; my point was that he can avoid death from bullets just as well as she can, so complaining about that making her OP is moot. 1

Also, it's your turn with the Reckoners now, Joe. And Kobold, when is Lightwards going to get to the Sadry's? Just wait till "What Happened in Texas," where my superior knowledge in avoiding cacti will lead me to certain victory. Lightwards is definitely heading there. He just needs to get Nighthound set up with a job real quick, then briefly speak to a MEE representative on his way over, and then he'll get there. We'll be working round the clock to ensure Lightwards gets there as quickly as possible to avoid a time paradox. 1

Kobold King he/him Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Well, Utah has dangerous, um, snow? Sounds good. Then the real War begins. Uh... I've heard the lakes are especially salty there? Here in Texas I have personally been stuck with cactus thorns, bloodied and gouged by mesquite trees, assaulted by "Asian Tiger" mosquitoes, and have lived in constant dread of rattlesnakes and scorpions. Texas will be the last place the Epics take simply because no Epic wants to put up with it. 1

Kobold King he/him Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Dust Storm? He can conjure up winds of dusty heat and tumble weeds. So he's the one who keeps doing that? I've seen Dust Storm bleed. And I will see him bleed again. 2

Kobold King he/him Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 * your puns have been interrupted for the following matter of business * Who's up next in The Dalles--Backtrack or Autumn Glass? * you may now resume punning * 1

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted October 30, 2014 Author Posted October 30, 2014 I don't have anything to do with Backtrack right now, so bring on the Autumn. Since Reader didn't set it up for the healer remark, can I come up with a way to fit that in?
