We haven't really picked a location yet. Likely somewhere around the Niagara Falls area because my Epic will need to be around a large body of water (I'll finish and send my character sheet soon, I promise). Open to suggestions.

Buffalo might be a good location, it’s a pretty large city that’s on Lake Erie and relatively close to Niagara Falls.

A reckoners story that takes place on a great lake? Why does that sound familiar...

Yeah, that sounds good!

Shhhh, I just wanted to have an OP water Epic haha

Will the city it takes place in be renamed like in the actual Reckoners series?

Up to whatever everyone wants! @TwinSouls

Yeah, probably, if that's what people want.

Random name ideas in the event that Buffalo is picked derived from skimming the city’s Wikipedia page (could probably work for other places):

Damascene, Amstel, Dusk, Lorian, Verglas

I believe originally we chose a large body of water because we wanted one of the factions to be based around water, and because I was planning on having my Epic, who's going to be a major faction leader, need a large body of liquid water for his power (coming soon within the next few hours!). Also: does being away from water count as an acceptable weakness? Otherwise it shall be a quirk of his power.

If you think frozen lake sounds cooler, I'd be willing to roll with that idea and change my Epic into something ice-related to play into that. I just want to be a faction leader haha :)

There’s a really cool (hehe) phenomenon in some areas of the Great Lakes that could be fun to have around permanently.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake-effect_snow

And imo being away from water as a weakness feels like a restriction that would be inherent to water manipulation powers rather than a specific weakness.

Just throwing around ideas 😄. What if the war had something to do with faction leaders disagreeing on use of epic motivators? Like morality kind of thing. I dunno just brainstorming out loud.

That would be cool! It’d need a roughly balanced split between good and evil characters to keep it from being awkward/unfair, I’m not sure where everyone would fall right now. I can confirm that my character would be on team evil.

Backstory (highly encouraged): He was aspiring to be an author, and was writing one of his drafts for his books, when Calamity rose in the sky, and as he wrote in his book, ... stuff happened, and thing around him that he touched, began to fall . He began playing around with his power, coming under more and more control under Calamity. THough he is a naturally empathetic and gentle person, that has been curbed ... somewhat.

Maybe he will learn how to control his fear ... maybe.

It is impossible to get to or below zero kelvin... physics

So it may take an equally powerful epic to kill him.

That’s why I’m asking for clarification, although epics don’t care about physics too much

Yes but it is not possible for a regular human to do that, so killing the epic is almost impossible

Except he doesn’t seem to have a prime invincibility, so you could, y’know, shoot him.

Sorry about that. It will be kelvin. Not really. Probably Celsius as I don’t use Fahrenheit

Yup! Unless you want to work for Fish :)

Interesting!

And thanks for your input on the second part. I agree with that.

That's far more elegant than what I was thinking with "NO THIS IS MY HOME MY CITY" type of faction wars!

Firstly, if his weakness ice / water, why would he be around a large body of water? Second, I'm a bit worried fire, lava, heat manipulation, and lightning all being for one Epic. Maybe consider taking some of those out or having two Epics?

Epic Name (if epic): Onomatopoeia

Real/Pre-calamity name: Aaron

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Primary Power (if epic):  He can write glowing script in the air, and what he writes happens. It is limited to elemental like control, not anything under the sun, as he needs to picture what happens, and to learn a new thing, he needs to memorise what would happen if he did it. e.g. Cant write for a random person to die, he needs to know that person, and what would happen if they disappeared.

Other powers (if epic): Memorisation skills (Not flawless, just better than average)

Weakness (if epic): Any Darkness where you would not be able to read.

Personality (highly encouraged): He is a restless person, who is always looking for something new to learn, and control. He is a bit intolerant of most people.

I hate to shut down such a cool idea, but that is waaaaaaay too powerful. Has been tried in the past, and super powerful Epics just don't work in this setting. Ask Aeo about Cy :)

I can remove the lighting and lava but keep the heat and fire?

the weakness works as he could in most cases just evaporate it

The problem with this is that several epics will be very Territorial about the water (and also you can't evaporate large lakes hopefully). There's a planned water epic and a plant epic who also wouldn't like him, so you'll have to keep this in mind.

Heat and fire are great starting points, but you also have to consider how your epic's powers will interact with their weakness. Does contact with frozen water instantly surpress their powers? Just some things to consider!
