“I’ll be fine,” Edgar said weakly. He pulled out a small bottle from the pack he carried, and drank the contents. Nectar, it should keep him up for a while longer. 
He looked at Jenny. It had been a long time since someone had seemed to care about him like she did. She actually seemed to want him happy and healthy. That was rare. He smiled weakly at her.

Jenny tried to smile back, but only in an attempt to reassure him. Despite drinking what she assumed was nectar, his smile was still weak. She looked over at Aaron and impatiently nodded her head towards Edgar, attempting to subtly ask him to hurry up. It was not at all subtle.

“Do you know where…”

Jenny trailed off as Harold ran away. Normally she would’ve run after him, make sure he wasn’t running through camp alone, but under no circumstances would she leave Edgar’s side at that moment. Harold really seemed to enjoy running.

Harold found Chiron quite easily. He then made the old centaur follow him. Then he ran back, hopefully in time to save his (hopefully) new friend.

“You need the help too,” he said, looking at her arm, which seemed quite badly burned. Her handed her the bottle. “There’s a little left in here, drink it please.”

She looked down at her arm, having completely forgotten about her injuries. She now noticed the stinging feeling from the burn again. It wasn’t at all pleasant, but it was bearable. She didn’t drink from the bottle and held it back out to Edgar.

”I don’t need my arm to walk.”

She gently tapped her cheek to see how deformed it still was. The resulting pain made her immediately regret that, although she managed to show none of it outwardly.

”Or my face. Besides, I’m a Hades kid, I’ll be fine.”

Jenny didn’t want to add to his worry.

“Please, it’s bad enough that you got hurt, at least drink the nectar. Just because you’re a Hades kid, that doesn’t make you immune to death or pain. Anyway, if I drank any more nectar I might be in worse shape. This is the least I can do after all you’ve done for me today.”

 He held out the bottle insistently, then winced as the pain increased from movement.

Jenny wavered for a moment, but eventually gave in and drank the rest of the nectar. Edgar was right that drinking any more of it would probably just harm him. Her wounds healed until they were superficial. The nectar could do nothing for her worry, unfortunately.

The Clearing

 

Aaron grabbed onto Edgar, using some vines to carry him in a litter like contraption, before having it attach to the back of a makeshift vest made out of plants. Let's do this he thinks to himself. 

He grabs onto one of the nearby trees, and wills himself into it, and goes through the plant network. The green tunnels, still amazed him. Same with the creatures that he saw. He waved to the few of them, that waved at him. 

He reaches the end of his small network, a feeling of growing encompassing him, as he is kicked back out into the daylight. He latches onto the next plant, repeating the process. Heading to the Big House, where Chiron may be.

Jenny breathed a sigh of relief when Aaron carried Edgar away. She sprinted towards the Big House. She was fast, faster than one might expect. While her build was rather skinny, it seemed like she had the athleticism of someone more muscular.

Her breathing grew ragged quicker than it normally did, however. She was admittedly drained, and she could only push herself so far above her limit.

She had lost sight of Edgar, so she had no idea how he was doing. She hadn’t felt this worried about someone for a long time. She almost glanced at the ruby in her pocket. No, it wasn’t that bad. He was fine. Well, he would be fine. He had to be. She’d make sure he was ok, and-

You’re a child of death. You don’t bring life. You can’t bring life. You destroy.

”No, no, I’m going to help him. I can help him!”

You’ll kill him, eventually. Remember what happened last time? I know you do. Quit lying, Jenny. You hate lying, remember?

Jenny forced the voice out of her mind and continued to run.

Jenny grit her teeth and ran right into the crowd of demigods, ignoring Roy. She weaved between blades and fists as she dashed through them. Supernatural reflexes lent her the ability to duck under swings most wouldn’t have seen coming.

A boy she recognized from Athena arced his sword towards her and she bent backwards, it narrowly clearing her nose. A girl from Hermes stabbed a rapier towards her, and Jenny hopped to the side. She ducked as an arrow wizzed over her head.

She was only one person against many, however. A blade grazed her leg, another her arm. She gasped with pain when the still-healing burn was sliced open.

The cuts weren’t deep enough that she was in danger of bleeding out, so she ignored them. The campers didn’t pursue her as she broke free from the mob; she was running away from where their flag was. By now, her bun had unraveled and her hair streamed out behind her. She began to approach the edge of the forest.

The Big House

Aaron appeared at the Big House, dropping of Edgar into the sick bay, where cleverly there had been a plant installed. He had heard the boy complaining about being "fine" and that Jenny needed more attention, which she did need attention, just not as much as him. Making sure Edgar was safely in one of the beds, he heads out the door nodding to the odd guard that was there. The one covered in eyes. 

The last 6 months had been the craziest in his life. He had discovered that this entire world was real, and that he was apart of it, and that he was just going to casually talk to a legendary figure. "What a turn around" he mutters to himself. 

As he walks onto the verandah, he notices Chiron there. He bows, still unsure in what he was supposed to do. Trying to do so hurriedly so he could get back to the game. "Edgar is in the first aid room, sir. A mymerek caught him and Jenny in the forest. I am going to get her now." and not waiting for a response drags himself back through the network to the forest.

 

The Creek 

Aaron appears in the middle of the fray, people he had tied up loose as the plants had been without guidance. Dang it he thinks to himself, before noticing Jenny in the middle of the fighting. "Oh no you dont" he says, sending multiple plants her way to bring her to him, simultaneously sending other out to capture the opposing team, and to let Roy across the creek. 

He dodges an attack that came from the Ares girl. I need to learn that ones name he thinks to himself. Just to get out of her way. HE swings Jenny towards him, and encourages the Happy gas plants to bloom in excessive quantities, putting both sides that were close to the river asleep. Hopefully. Once again leaving without a glance back, he drags himself through his private network again, heading straight to the Big House. Dropping her in the bed beside Edgar.

Coughing was a bad sign. You didn’t cough if your injuries were external. There was nothing else she could do to help, though.

She laughed. The acid and blood combination had done a number on her clothes. A nurse arrived and helped bandage Jenny’s wounds so she’d stop getting blood everywhere.

He smiled at her, but shook his head. It wasn’t ok. Eventually, a child of Apollo brought him a potion, that, when he drank it, soothed his throat and let him stop coughing as much. “That’s much better,” he said, his voice returning back to normal, though it still had a little raspiness.
