I prefer to link the account, since you can still see it after the content gets removed. When it says the bot has 31 content yet no recent activity, that means it got insta-nuked

Ah. Good spot to find it. If you press the unread content button next to the searchbar at the top right, you will be able to easily see that bot when it spams new posts. Thats how I caught that bot earlier today (the one chaaos removed in 30 seconds) even if it spammed 3 times only 30m ago.

Sometimes they just failed to get past the requirements to make their first post because bots are dumb.

And also, sometimes we've already banned them. If you're finding them via the daily birthdays, you'll see a lot of older bots floating around. Regular users can't see if a particular account has been banned.

Other bots. One spammer will create a set and try and have them cross-upvote themselves in an attempt to get clicks. Pity for them it doesn't work around here.

 

We appreciate y'alls diligence in hitting the Report button on these things. Several of us try and catch them pre-emptively when we can, but the internet is dark and full of spammers. We see you, and we come at your calls.

(Now, what's really funny is when the bots go and report their own posts. Someone out there wrote some janky bot code, and we mods get the occasional giggle out of it.)

I think it be chaos, he ends up destroying most of them, with kaymyth also coming up as a close second.

Can't see a reason for mods/admins to report a bot instead of banning them though.

Yup. Because there is nothing suspicious in advertising a weird page, unrelated to Brandon. Just report those.

 

Recently I had a weird dream. Chaos made me a mod so I can ban bots when no other mods are present. It felt sooooo gooooood.
