Tamriel Wolfsbaine Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 I watched The Bourne Legacy and it made me think of making a spy in the cosmere with enhanced mental and physical. I know there are lots of ways to do this though mixing of magics or feruchemy but I wanted to put it together with a bit of a specific kit. Kandra with the blessing of presence and the second part of the equation boils down to how eating and wearing a kolossblooded bones would work. Would a kandra gain any benefit from wearing a kolossbloodeds bones? I know Kandra can train up and make themselves stronger. I know they can make themselves a bit more dense or cause their muscles to be stronger. But would they gain any anatomical benefits from taking a kolossblooded body aside from the larger frame? Would a Kandra who ate a Kolossblooded learn whatever it is that makes them what they are faster? Would they be able to reproduce it in normal smaller frames? Would eating a kolossblooded give a similar benefit to a kandra as a blessing of potency or is the strength and speed increases from potency far greater than what a kolossblooded possesses?
Underwater_Worldhopper he/him Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 I don't know if the bones will grant any supernatural strength; in Koloss, their power and other defining features come from their mangled Spiritweb. However, their bones are probably larger and denser, so you could get more durable bones that way, but I don't see how that would be any more advantageous than custom-made metal bones. However, you could use Dakhor monk bones instead, ones with the right symbols on them. They'd either only work on Sel or require purified Dor, but it should work, along with other benefits.

Likely the latter - Being a Kolossblood is more like being on the upper bellcurve of normal human for strength, speed and agility (far below the level of Pewter/BoP/etc. since Tarson is described as only slightly more enhanced with his pewter than a normal thug because he was starting from a slightly higher baseline than normal) Until they undergo the ritual and gain the spikes to become full Koloss, they are more like a professional athelete (upper bell curve) than "magically aided physical abilities." 6 hours ago, Tamriel Wolfsbaine said: I know Kandra can train up and make themselves stronger. It's not about "training up" (at least not in the phycial training sense) it's about consuming extra mass, for those practiced enough to create their own muscle systems rather than straight copy a muscle, and using that extra mass to change the density and facility of the muscles they do copy. HoA Ch 66: Spoiler TenSoon considered this concern, then had ordered a horse and a large hog to be brought to him. TenSoon first ingested the hog to give himself extra mass, then molded his gel-like flesh around the horse to digest it as well. Within an hour, he’d formed his body into a replica of the horse—but one with enhanced muscles and weight, creating the enormous, extra-strong marvel which Sazed now rode.

Eating a kolossblooded would make kandra as strong as he was. TenSoon get stronger and faster in dog's body, in the same way a kandra will get stronger in kolossblooded body.
Quantus he/him Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 The larger frame is going to have basic leverage advantage, especially if the Kandra can increase muscle density to animal levels, so they could get physical strength comparable to primates, I think. There are some Connection shenanigans at play with the Bones, but they seem to be more vague cognitive things than overt abilities being transmitted, especially magical ones. And in the case of Koloss, a lot of it reverts when they die and/or get their spikes removed, so I dont think they'll get any of the benefits that come from supernatural sources. A larger frame would also mean the person can tap more F-Pewter before the bulk becomes problematic, so a Kandra with feruchemy could probably approximate a Koloss pretty close (minus the skin problems). And I assume a Kandra cannot just add Koloss Spikes to their Blessings and hope they become a hybrid.
cometaryorbit Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 I am not sure if koloss-blooded have better muscles than default human (ie more strength per muscle mass/cross-sectional area), or just larger muscles. Apparently the difference in musculature isn't always blatant because Elizandra could hide her koloss-blooded nature.
