NameIess Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 "But they're the only things that come through? I'd expect to see a much wider variety of creatures in this junkyard, considering all the magic residue in this place."
Channelknight Fadran Posted January 13, 2023 Author Posted January 13, 2023 "They do, but they register immediately once they come through. We take them out pretty quickly."
Mr. Misting he/him Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 "Hmmm, only creatures? Can you register other objects that come through?"
Channelknight Fadran Posted January 13, 2023 Author Posted January 13, 2023 "Depends on what kind of energy they give off. Most, yes. We retrieve those as well."
NameIess Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 "What do you do if something too powerful for you to kill comes through?"
Channelknight Fadran Posted January 13, 2023 Author Posted January 13, 2023 "That kind of thing doesn't happen very often. Monsters with malicious intent are exempt from the gateways to this place, so they never even detect it in the first place. If something were to wander into here, it usually isn't hostile." Fadran gestured to one of the many bags of kleevers. "These things are just survivors, but they happen to produce an awful lot of sludge, which can turn hostile. Like..." The nearby puddle of purple-ish goop rippled over the top. "...Oh."
NerdyAarakocra They/Them Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Len looked at the pile of sludge. "I told you so!" she singsonged.
Edema Rue she/her Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Rayvyn threw a knife at the goop. “Goop should not live!”
xinoehp512 he/him Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Obsidian reached out to touch the goop.
NameIess Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 Klave grabbed his hand. "You don't want to touch that. It might out eat you."
Channelknight Fadran Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Fadran cracked his knuckles. “Good. I was worried we wouldn’t have to fight a giant sludge monster today.”
Edema Rue she/her Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Rayvyn shrugs. "I could use a nice fight. It will be...rejuvenating." She pulls out a pair of poisoned daggers, wondering if poison affects sludge monsters.
Mr. Misting he/him Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Dave yawned. He found a decently dry spot and lowered himself to the floor. "This should be fun to watch." Dave said.

Channelknight Fadran Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Quote Imma wait for tomorrow to continue with all the RPs
Channelknight Fadran Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Quote Gwehehehe I can double-post in my own thread I decided The sludge rippled again, then began to convulse. The pond of purple goop pulled in on itself, tightening up into a ball, then twisted around into a cylinder. The edges convulsed and dripped, and the top smoothed out into a roundish figure. In and of itself, the sludge monster wasn't much to behold. Just a moving, stinking pile of goop. In fact, it was pretty much in its most vulnerable state at the moment--Fadran probably could've taken care of it then and there. But everyone was itching for a fight, it seemed, so he let it shoot tendrils of sludge at its surroundings to grab all manner of junk and armor itself with a body of garbage.

Obsidian reached the goop and stuck his hand in it.
Channelknight Fadran Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 It slurped him up like a wet noodle.

Edema Rue she/her Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Rayvyn frowned at the colorful goop. “Is this normal?”
Channelknight Fadran Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 "Sludge monster." Fadran explained.
Edema Rue she/her Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 “Well, yes, but do your guests often…is there a right way to say, ‘melt into sludge and merge with the sludge monster’?”
Channelknight Fadran Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 "Only if they let it touch them." Fadran looked back at the monster that had just eaten Obsidian. "Or if they touch it, I guess, but nobody's ever really tried that before."
Edema Rue she/her Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Rayvyn shook her head, grimacing. “I would like to say that this is the weirdest situation I have been in, but that would not be true, unfortunately. Will he be permanently harmed?” The question sounds curious, not desperate or angry.
