"Yeah, anytime," he said, taking out a tacky looking jacket and giving it a raised brow. Ji brought it to his body, then put it back.

"Do you... do you think we have a chance against them?" Ji whispered, avoiding eye contact.

She shook her head.

Not against the Angel of Death.

"Maybe a chance. But... nothing else."

“Mmm.” Ji flicked through some more jackets, heading to the trousers’ section. “Don’t suppose it’s my cue to say that hope will save us and the friendship between us is all the magic we need to defeat them, even though that’s a load of crap?”

Elya smiled a little. "You're cute."

“Oh, you think so?” he asked, bringing up a questionably stained pair of trousers to sneer at before placing it back, smiling slightly.

Only just then did Elya realize what she'd said. "Oh. I didn't... I mean..."

She clamped her mouth shut.

Ji gave a glance at her, then immediately stifled a laugh. “I know what you meant–” he took out a pair of flashy hot pink jeans, then put it back “–no need to feel bad.”

"...on second thought, I'm not leaving you unsupervised. C'mon." Lyanör led the way towards the fruits and veggies, grabbing some apples, bananas, oranges, mangos, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and celery. "Alright, now pick your weird food."

"You forgot cucumbers. And asparagus. And if you're in charge of the veggies I want to be in charge of the cheese. It's food, how much harm can I really do?"

"...I have a question." Elya didn't look up at him. Partially because she was still embarrassed--partially because of how fluffy the scarf she'd just found was.

“Shoot.” He put on a hat with a couple holes in it, then shrugged it off.

"Why are you doing all this?"

Lyanör grabbed cucumbers and asparagus, then turned to Kazh. "You're acting very suspicious with how much you want to be in charge of the cheese. You'll probably get something that'll stink up the entire apartment."

“That is untrue and you know it you teleporting fiend.” Right Viator snapped.

“Guys can we please just get along?” plead Forwards Viator, “This always happens when we play go fish.”

“Fine” all the Viators grumbled.

“It’s your turn Left” Viator said, as he went back to the game.

"Well, yes. But also letting other people help you." Elya turned away from a bunch of discounted jeans and looked back at him. "Back when we first met, you were the biggest loner I'd ever seen. But now you're letting in pretty much everyone who wants to help out."

"We're going to need all the help we can get, ya know?" he said, sorting through the pile of clothing, his eyes set on it.

"Is it... because..." She bit her lip. "Because of me joining?"

He stopped, turning towards her, tilting his head. "You're asking if you've had an effect on my decisions lately?"

[Channelknight Fadran]

"Well... if your decisions have been... for my sake."

"Well, uh..."

Ji scratched the back of his head, feeling his face grow hot.

Lights.

"You see– it's, uh– I don't– it's just–" he stammered, looking away.

Elya took his hand, leaned forwards, then kissed him on the cheek.
