Elya glanced over her shoulder, double-checking to ensure they weren't being listened in on. "There have been... several recent recruits. Seemingly at the same itme. Now, no competent enemy would have been so conspicuous, but it's still an issue we must address."

Ji fell silent for a moment, his gaze falling to the ground. He folded his arms and softly tapped his finger on his elbow.

“Hmph, understandable.” Ji looked back up at her. “You have a plan or what?”

He stared at her, dead serious expression on. “It’s called ‘humor,’” he said in a matter of fact tone. “You ought to try it sometime.”

Ji rubbed his eyes. “I’m sorry. Yes, I do trust you. You haven’t wronged me yet.”

Lyanör stood awkwardly in the main room, one hand on a gun. For some reason, she trusted the woman who threw a dagger at her more than the person who initially let her in, or anyone else in the building.

Ji looked her right in the eye. His scowl faded into a serious line.

“Elya,” he said, “I trust you. If you don’t trust me, I can’t blame you.”
