Awakening:Pros-Cons-How?
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to SmurfAquamarineBodies's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Pros: Heightening benefits Breath benefits -
This is to ascertain what Knowledge we have about Awakening. What are it's Pros, Cons and How does it work? Pros: How does it benefit society and individuals? Cons: How does it negatively affect society and individuals? How?: What do we know about it's inner workings? Example Pro: Can use Breath to create useful servants. Lifeless. Con: If a Nalthisian loses their Breath, they become Drab. How: Uses Breath, an Investiture native to Nalthis. I'm going to compile these facts and opinions into groups for ease of archiving. When you post could you please use the tags. Tags are as follows: Pro-for the Pro list. Con-for con list. How-for how list. Off-topic-for discussion about the posts. Theory-for something unproven but highly likely. Question-for when you think the list is wrong. will put up a topic for AonDor and Surgebinding in a couple of days.

Current Factions/Guilds
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Lurthemir's topic in Social Groups, Clans, & Guilds
Hang on, there's no chocolate on Roshar? No wonder all the characters are cracked. Edit: Rust, ninja'd by a princess. My smurfmobile was too slow! -
I have often wondered this. I suppose it would depend on what gets changed in Soulcasting. Does the body get changed in all three realms or is it only the Physical? If its only in the Physical then it should be possible but if it is changed in all three then maybe, but probably only if the Awakener had a lot of Breaths.

Shallen face of the KR.
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to High prince of geeks's topic in Stormlight Archive
From the sounds of it Skybreakers and Truthwatchers probably tended to smurf some people off. It would make some sort of PR group necessary. So I guess that would make the Lightweavers the diplomats of the KR. Or would that be ambassadors? -

Alomancy:Pros-Cons-How?
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to SmurfAquamarineBodies's topic in Cosmere Discussion
How? Iron: pulls on nearby sources of metal. Steel: pushes on nearby sources of metal. Tin: increase senses. Pewter: increase physical capabilities. Brass: soothes emotions. Zinc: riots emotions. Copper: hides allomantic pulses. Bronze: detects allomantic pulses. Aluminum: wipes allomantic reserves. Duraluminum: enhances next metal burnt. Cadmium: slows down time. Bendalloy: speeds up time. Gold: reveals past self. Electrum: reveals future selves. Chromium: wipes target allomantic reserves. Nicrosil: Enhances targets next metal burnt. Atium: reveals others future selves. Melatium: reveals others past self. Lerasium: makes burner mistborn. rewrites spiritweb? - Allomancy is a form-based magic. The molecular structure of particular metals allow Preservation's Investiture to flow into the Allomancer in the same way the Dor would flow into an Elantrian's Aons. This Investiture somehow is able to grant the Allomancer enhanced abilities. - A Net-Positive system, as it takes energy from an outside force - in this case, Preservation's Investiture. - An efficient Investiture system, it gives out no light or visible signs of power. A particular variant of Allomancer - the Seeker, can trace Allomancer's by their allomantic signature however, pulses able to measured by wavelengths. -
Alomancy:Pros-Cons-How?
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to SmurfAquamarineBodies's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Cons: -It is limited in it's application. Each metal corresponds to a single ability, and very few people have access to more than one metal. -
Alomancy:Pros-Cons-How?
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to SmurfAquamarineBodies's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Pros: -It is simple and intuitive. It is possible to learn to use an ability with little or no training. -
This is to ascertain what Knowledge we have about Alomancy. What are it's Pros, Cons and How does it work? Pros: How does it benefit society and individuals? Cons: How does it negatively affect society and individuals? How?: What do we know about it's inner workings? Example Pro: Gain Investiture. Con: Have to maim or kill someone for Investiture. How: Uses metal Spikes to steal Investiture. I'm going to compile these facts and opinions into groups for ease of archiving. When you post could you please use the tags. Hemalurgy:Pros-Cons-How?
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to SmurfAquamarineBodies's topic in Cosmere Discussion
How?: Iron: steals human strength. Steel: steals allomantic powers. Tin: steals human senses. Pewter: steals feruchemical powers. Brass: steals feruchemical mental attribute. Zinc: steals human emotional fortitude. Copper: steals human mental fortitude. Bronze: steals allomantic mental powers. Aluminum: steals allomantic enhancement powers. Atium: steals every power. ?? -the spike is charged using the targets spiritweb. -
Hemalurgy:Pros-Cons-How?
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to SmurfAquamarineBodies's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Cons: -can only gain investiture at others suffering. -can be controlled by others?? -lose investiture over time. -The process is not simple. You can't just stab a charged spike in anywhere and make it work. -By the very nature of the process, research into the art is troublesome, maiming or killing those involved in the research. Which makes learning about and improving the processes involved very difficult. -removal of spikes placed in vital parts of the body kills the spikeholder. ( will use this term till a better term is thought up ) -
Hemalurgy:Pros-Cons-How?
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to SmurfAquamarineBodies's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Pros: -allows for transference of investiture between people. -anyone can use it. -Nearly limitless flexibility, customisable beyond even the original investiture's intent (e.g. an inquisitor's eye-spikes allowing metal-sight) -
This is to ascertain what Knowledge we have about Hemalurgy. What are it's Pros, Cons and How does it work? Pros: How does it benefit society and individuals? Cons: How does it negatively affect society and individuals? How?: What do we know about it's inner workings? I don't care about Good, Evil, Heaven or Hell I just want to analyse how it works and why someone would or would not use it. Example Pro: Gain Investiture. Con: Have to maim or kill someone for Investiture. How: Uses metal Spikes to steal Investiture. I'm going to compile these facts and opinions into groups for ease of archiving. When you post could you please use the tags. Tags are as follows: Pro-for the Pro list. Con-for con list. How-for how list. Off-topic-for discussion about the posts. Theory-for something unproven but highly likely. Question-for when you think the list is wrong. I'll be putting more about the different types of Investiture up later.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Would being a Drab counts as having a 'Crack' in the Spiritweb? If a Drab went to Roshar would they be more likely to get a Nahel-bond or would they have to be Rosharan to be able to qualify for a Nahel-bond? -
In regards to there only being ten thousand Lifeless on Nalthis, there is actually forty thousand according to my copy of Warbreaker with four different Returned having command of ten thousand each. Plus the Lifeless left over from Kalads ( spelling? ) army and other random ones floating about.

Parshendi numbers question
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to RadiantNights's topic in Stormlight Archive
not just the Parshendi but the Parshmen as well. -
I read those two lines and because there was some mention somewhere of Renarin reestablishing the 'men of letters' or something like that. I had a random what if question go through my mind. What if it was the Truthwatchers that kept their Oaths and the Stormwardens are a remnant/off shoot of that Order? Though I almost dismissed that idea straightaway because there is one HUGE whole with that little theory, namely why haven't they come out as Surgebinders? But then again you could probably ask that about any of the other potential remnant Orders. So, I don't know just thought i should share to see if anyone else had any potential ideas about it.
-
I thought she got that from Sazed? Though that would explain the hostilities because Kelsier would not appreciate having his loved one manipulated.
-
I agree that Adolin has that with Shallan. Which is IMO what she needs, someone who can provide emotional support. I don't think Kaladin is ready for that yet, he is still damaged by his past. What I was trying to say before, but obviously failing ( All aboard the struggle bus. Destination, struggle city. Population, me ) was that Kaladin is not looking for a person who is unable to look after themselves but someone who he can succeed at protecting and teach to defend themselves. ( someone who is not a Knight, someone 'normal' who will come into their own as a strong character. Without being 'magical' ) This is definitely not Shallan, but I would bet that Tarah fits the bill.
-
Yeah. I mean now Kelsier is just being meddlesome because that's his nature, though according to Word of Brandon if Kelsier and Hoid were in the same room they would fight, if that helps with understanding Kelsier and Hoid's motives. As to who Miles Hundredlifes is talking about it is speculated that it has to do with the southern continent and the people who live their. They were apparently put there by TLR as a 'back up plan'. So perhaps Harmony is helping Wax to prepare him for them? I'm uncertain if their are any other Shards that have influenced Scadrial, though I may be wrong. I personally don't think Brandon would have too great an enemy for a series that wasn't really apart of his original plan. Mistborn was, IIRC. only supposed to be three trilogies long, but now with Wax's books there will be more than nine books.

So, err, hey?
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to VeristitalianPhilologist's topic in Introduce Yourself!
Soooo... you are saying you are a willing subject? *begins sharpening Spike* Where did you say you were from again? Give me a couple of years for... research and I'll be good to go." -
To remove TLR, and free the Skaa. There is WoB that Kelsier is still floating around in the Cosmere, so i don't think that Marsh would try to establish himself as TLR. Kelsier would be unhappy if he did and have words with him.
-
Oh, I agree that he wouldn't. That is definitely not his style, but he is certainly able to if he wished to. Sorry for any miss-understanding. But I really don't think that Marsh would do that ( desire to become the next Lord Ruler ). It goes too much against what Kelsier, his brother, died for. I would say that any argument that Harmony and Marsh would have, which it is hinted by Marsh for the two of them to have IIRC, would be about how they go about protecting the civilization that Kelsier, Vin, Sazed and that lot built. Harmony is very much help those who help themselves. Whereas Marsh would be more hands on in his approach. IMO
