Terrorists? Really? At most they are a preliminary force for invasion. -
The Worst That Could Happen Foundation

Ahh, let's not and say we did. You realise that they are capable of getting to our planet without us humans being aware of it. This suggests to me that they have technologies far beyond our capabilities. Even if they do not have capabilities far beyond ours they are a new species, why not try and communicate with them. -

I second mister smarty pants' suggestion. Though they are aware of cellphones we should try to limit what knowledge they have of our capabilities. Because as we all know, knowledge is power and I am unwilling to give another power for free. -
Windrunner Ultimate Weapon: Pocket Sand

If you want to torture someone. Well we know that Progression can bring someone back from the dead, so you could just flay them till they die, bring them back and use another method. Continue this for about 3 years and anything they know you will as well. You would also gain valuable information on what techniques are the most effective at achieving different results. E.g. What gives maximum pain in minimum time. What gives maximum pain for maximum time.- 33 replies

The Worst That Could Happen Foundation
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Kobold King's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Eh. If they didn't get taken hostage we wouldn't be in this mess. So realistically it's all their fault so if they die, it's all on them. Besides Kobold said that the UN was willing to forgive a couple of deaths. What's the point in an alien invasion if they can't relieve this planet of some humans. Well mister smarty pants why didn't you say this before, huh? Well can we do that then? Just listen to the phones for about a hour. Then ring them? -

How long would an airstrike take? Are we able to tap into any cellphones to listen in on any conversations? -

Well what are we supposed to do then? Just attack them? We can't. If the translators die then so be it. But the alien elephants are taking hostages remember? That implies that they want something, if they want something then the only way to get it to them is to talk. Can't talk if neither party speaks the same language. Hence the translators. But if we are worried about saving face then I suggest sending in a robot that has the capabilities to act as a web-cam. Allowing us to communicate without the threat of people dying. -

Gather every translator for the UN and send them in to try and learn their language so as to learn what their intentions are. If they can already speak a Earthly language well one of the translators should be able to speak it. ( I'm not going to assume that they speak English. ) Also have every elephant in zoos and circus' ready to be released back to the wild in case that is what they want. -
The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
But the Allomancer's that used Atium were Allomancers not Hemalurgists. Just because they used Atium doesn't mean that's how they accessed Ruin's system. It was Preservation's system using Ruin's Investiture. I'm not saying that Scadrial would have always had Allomancy whatever the Shard but the Shards system would have used metal. Somehow. -

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
No. I'm saying that how the user first gains access to the system would be the same or at least similar. So to gain a Preservation Spren someone would need to be in immediate danger of dying. Instead of being, more or less, a good person. Which is how a Nahel-Spren Bond is gained. Not sure how a Ruin Spren would be bonded. Probably similar to how Odium Spren are bonded. Would Spren even Bond? I'm only assuming that Spren would even be used but I suspect that Roshar itself desires that Spren be used, for whatever reason. I have no idea how the Investiture system would manifest. Meaning I have no idea what powers would be granted though I assume that they would be similar. Sorry for any confusion. -
The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I assume that the planet decides what is used by the Investiture system. Scadrial-metal, Roshar-Spren. The Shard decides how said system is accessed and the planet and the Shard sort of both get a say in how it manifests. For example, if Preservation and Ruin had stopped at Roshar instead of Scadrial their Investiture system would have used Spren instead of metals*. I assume that how the Investiture system is accessed would still be the same but would Ruin's system still be the universal hack that it is? *Which leads to a question. If Scadrial never had Shards visit it, would Aluminum still be weird in it's interactions with Investiture or did that come about because of Scadrial? -

So Shards Invest in planets. Is there a maximum number of Shards that could Invest in any single planet? If there is, is this related to the physical size of the planet or something to do with the planets Spiritual aspect? -

Having a Bad Day? Stop here for a Good Rant!
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to traceria's topic in General Discussion
Yep. My nephew has just reminded me of why babies suck. He wakes up at like 6 am, I had only just gone to sleep an hour ago, and because his mum his a useless sack of feces. So I had to get up and grab him otherwise he'd just sit in his cot slamming his head against the sides. So I get up get him another bottle because, you know, my other nephews were awesome. A sniff of a bottle and that was it they were asleep, but nooooo this little prick drinks the bottle then hits me on the head with it, laughing obviously, because it's just the best joke since the first yo mumma joke. So now after trying to get him to go back to sleep for 2 hours I'm now in the lounge with him and I also get the pleasure of going to some cousin's or another, I only got like 200 of the stupid things, funeral. I will have to try and get some sleep at 10 am so that I don't go to sleep half way through the funeral. Somehow I don't think the fams would like that. -
So my sisters dog is extremely racist. He hates black people. His barking set off the mastiff and now we no longer have jahovahs come and visit.

That would be awesome. Though seeing as it has been demonstrated that Breath can be taken off world, couldn't a Elantrian go to Nalthis, gather some Breaths and return to Sel. Then use those Breaths to create Aondor wands. Which would presumably be able to be taken off world as the Dor is no longer supplying the power, the Breath is. Huge market there for the right Scadrian. Just needs large capital funds, easy for a space traveler and a willing Elantrian.

Best Uses For Chromium Compounding
SmurfAquamarineBodies replied to ostrichofevil's topic in Mistborn
OK. So genetics is luck of the draw, right? ( more or less. Bit more to it than that obviously as genes can and are activated/deactivated by our environment but whatever who cares its random chance. ) Would Tapping luck whilst pregnant/during conception affect the baby at all? Like if the parents had rubbish genes, like bad eye sight, prone to sickness, that kinda thing, would the baby receive all the good genes? Or is something like that too situational for luck to be able to affect?EDIT. Was gonna ask about the sex thing but got distracted by myself.- 71 replies

Realistically that was a discussion about his quality of writing. Not many author's I'd suggest doing that too. A very muddled compliment but a compliment none the less.

Or better idea. We leave others out of it and kidnap Patrick and all of his family, grand-parents down on both sides should be sufficient, take them to a random location and give Patrick a type writer, we wouldn't want him contacting anyone now would we? We then tell him he has 6 months to finish the book, after that we start flaying a family member a week, except the children below the age of 10, we'll just shoot them ( can't not kill them because that would be unfair to the others ), in front of all of them. That should be sufficient motivation for him to finish the books. Might affect quality but I'm willing to live with that if you are.

I'd say that if anyone wielded Nightblood for a sufficient length of time they would be consumed. He eats Investiture. Everything out of the ordinary in the Cosmere is directly powered by Investiture. If he ate all of Hoid's Investiture then Hoid's 'immortality' would vanish and he would most definitely die.
