"Your God is secretly Human" is a thing that happens a lot in cosmer stuff so it would not be all that surprising. That said without that godhood the subject of the Blessings and curses given by the Nightwatcher becomes much more interesting. Its not that it does not tickle my fancy so much as the lack of information for or against and the sudden headache of trying to understand her as something else requires too much handwavia for me to pursue it right now. We have a glyph to find in elantris, Warbreaker to go back over for hints on shardblades and plate, Shinovar to examine, the Jazna chapter from the newsletter to corroborate with other references on Shadesmer for hints. And how much of the MAG and AoL supplement can be counted as cannon versus the noncannon to argue over. Cool idea, we will keep it in the back of our heads during the next book, but nothing we can stew on and a lot more fleshed out hints to debate on.

This more or less states my opinion. We know that spren existed on roshar before Honor and Cultivations arrival and the fact that she is called mother by a spren makes this seem like a real long shot. If we knew anything about the birth of spren to better understand the context of them calling anyone mother in general I may be more incline to agree with you. How ever right now the best "example" we can give loosely for this is the stormfather and He is more the remnants of a shard mixed with the cognitive memory of the stormfather as supplied by humanity . Based on this I think that while she may have been human at one point the cognitive perception of the "Nightwatcher" as a spren would exist. If they were human would they work together? would they be one and the same or 2 different being? Its a nice theory but there is not enough information on HOW the Nightwatcher works to be anything but a Vague theory.

Thank you. That is the kind of thing I was looking for. -

The Telegraph was invented in the 1830's and 40's while the light bulb was not invented till 1878. While this is not earth and technology can develop differently the Telegraph is a much simpler device electronically and was in wide use for intercontinental communications after the transatlantic line was first run in 1866. We know they have lightbulbs. I would be EXTREMELY surprised to ask brandon if they have the Telegraph and hear "No.". I would actually start to wonder what happened as metallurgy of the AoL era would facilitate much easier and more effective telegraph lines then we had in the same time period. We also need to find out if they are using alternating or direct current..... Edit: I'm a Physicist/Network Engineer with a horrible writing and Gaming addiction. A friend and I went so far as to produce go-carts and Armored Troop transports during a D&D 3.5 Campaign using the core magic item creation feats and Spell list. I tend to think about "How can it be done." not if and sometimes make the assumption that other science/magic minded people would do the same thing. -

I'm looking for said communication from crafty. So far nothing. If you have specific examples of any kind I would love to see them. -

... I really don't think Brandon would have let them go to print with something that was at least possible. He would have given them some notes or info to help things along. He enjoys gaming to much himself to let them go off the deep end on this. -

Yes. I think..... There is also the experimentation with electricity and metalminds that we still know nothing about. I really want to know how that works. -
Increasing the effects of Allomancy may not require actually storing the Allomantic Investiture from Preservation. Tell me: How would Feruchemical aluminium affect someone you were also pushing on via Allomantic zinc?

Concerning Faster-than-Light travel in the third trilogy

This is the premiss of spatial "Warp" based travel. There are several other forms of theorized FTL including Dimensional Hopping- traveling in a seperat or sub demension where the rules of spacetime behave different. Spatial folding/Tesseract- Different from warp in that a warp drive bends the local area while Tesseracts bend large segments of Spacetime. Colocation/entanglement - Two spaces share certain attributes forming a quantum link between both sites and allowing transit from one to another for anything that enters these sites. I'm incline to believe that sandersons FTL will be based around a blend of these things thanks to his preference for creating unique spins on tropes. Maybe somthing about how Allomancy/Feruchemy behaves in the Cognitive realm on Scadrial or the difference in the realms rules when using these powers? That said I believe there is a word of brandon explaining that we do NOT have enough information yet to understand the process, Just hints good enough for theorycrafting. -
I always Envisioned it a a blue version of http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/57/Magnet0873.png in 3d. They don't see as there are not actual blue lines, but their mind still has to Perceive it and with the strength of their allomancy it ends up replacing sight. So it would be a fusion of Electromagnetic lines from the picture above and echolocation that is attuned to metals. Meaning that they probably each perceive it differently.....

There are spikes for stealing Feruchemical chromium so maybe there is a way to steal each Feruchemical attribute without stealing the actual ability to use Feruchemy. But we would need a WOB or book instance to Prove that. On the subject of god metals. They make everything bizarre. For all you know you could use a ton of spikes to steal enough of your own attributes to essentially make it so that anyone using them becomes a Hemalurgic construct that is a clone of you. Invasion of the body stancher style. They are really not a good base line for anything that is not essensally "Outside" the normal rules.
-
Probably?

Not only do the god metals tend to break rules, They are outright exceptions to them. Shards do not have physical body's while they are shards from what we have seen, only vessels that they drop on death of the host. I'm not even going to try and quote or expand on all the WoB and theories about Atium and Lerasium. From them being normal metals that have been "Invested" spiritually in a way that can only be likened to Feruchemic storing to being the distilled manifestation of a shards energy similar to cooling plasma. All theory involving god metals is weird and I feel that they are specifically an exception to standard shard behavior. The best I have contributing to my theory is that they can be distilled to a physical form in the first place while other investments such as spren are spiritual in nature. Actually......... Excuse me while I look up all the different processes by which one can be Invested or learn to Invest. I'm Fairly certain that they should be categorized into some kind of groups. They are a Pantheon and pantheons always have a default base set of connections from one to another.

I just got my hard copy of the AoL supplement in the mail. The next part to this is just as good.

Please tell me this is an actual quote from some where.

Nicrosil/Nicrosil Soulburst was so impressive as a name to me that after looking over the compounding stunts for Double Nicrosil it became a core part of the Villain for an AoL game I'm running.

Allomantic/Feruchemical Tin/Tin Eagle Eye Tin/Steel Catcher Tin/Copper Monitor Tin/Zinc Quick Wit Tin/chromium Keeneye I'll have more time to post the reset later. My favorite though is: Iron/Iron Deader Description: Notorious for smashing themselves flat.

For my job the Zinc of a sparker would be the most useful. I have a lot of down time where I do not have to do ANYTHING followed by short bursts or reviewing error logs, Databases, Settings and server tables, Checking DNS and DHCP entries, and generally trying to figure out if there is a real server issue or if this is a user education moment. Being able to save mental speed and clarity is more useful then copper in this situation though copper runs second for being able to save the whole contents of books on computers and networks.

While I have a few windows machines for Gaming in the house the majority of "Computers" are Linux. I work with them all day as a server admin for a web host and I personally prefer to be able to create/modify/disable anything I want. Once Steam OS is out of beta and into the Open wide world I will probably replace the PC's in my house with it since they are more "entertainment systems" then real computers.

Theory : Difference between Epics and High Epics [SPOILERS]
Lord Tavash Shar replied to Oudeis's topic in The Reckoners
And of course I come up with my Best work over lunch: @Edgedancer: The analogy of snapping may be much closer to the truth then we can get at this point. Creativity/Strong Emotional response/ Receptive to Calamity. I'm going to propose a 3 part requirement to become an epic. By nature that means that its got 3 levels of complexity. This means that it fails a KISS test but as we're in Sci-fi land that is fairly common. First is emotion since its tied to the previous thoughts and was my gateway to the rest of this theory. Conflux was just trying to power a Microwave because he was hungry. Mitosis Hated his band for not branching out and playing what he considered better music. Now we have to make an assumption about a character that was not flushed out. Did Curveball like action movies as a kid? Did he want to be JUST LIKE those guys? Prof we know was a teacher and seems to be very interested in trying to help people. Did something happen to his students? What if emotion is a major part of the process for becoming an epic but not the catalyst? Think of it as the gas in the Car. You needed it to get anywhere but the Battery is what starts everything. The second is a Creativity or Self Image. the Person becoming an epic has conscious and subconscious Ideas of what and how they want to be and this process carries them through. The power to BE a one man band, Never running out of bullets just like the action movies. Pointing and killing your target. Intelligence but also imagination of the person before they become an Epic is paramount in that this is what they are trying to become. The emotion is how much they want to get there. And in a sense they "Burn" emotions to fuel the powers there personal self image creates. If Cueball were to become more powerful he would have say better reflexes and resistance because his self Image as an action hero is STRONGER is what would drive the system. Finally I agree that there has got to be some outside influence and that the red star Calamity is probably the source of the epic mutation. a sort of car battery to Start or trigger the other two and culminate in an Epic. -
Theory : Difference between Epics and High Epics [SPOILERS]
Lord Tavash Shar replied to Oudeis's topic in The Reckoners
I have unfortunately more than once wished that I could think and have someone on the other side of a telephone line drop dead right there. Its not as uncommon as you would think. So maybe not hatred or self loathing so much as STRONG emotions? The kind of knee jerk response a Father has on hearing a Dead baby joke where all he wants to do is choke the life out of the speaker. Most often these sorts of emotional responses are reactions after the fact to an event and in many cases they include a sort of "If Only I could" line of personal reasoning. You would be hard pressed to make me believe that you have never wanted a forme of Investiture from the cosmer or another in certain circumstances. Maybe that is what the Calamity dose. Here are your dreams both conscious and subconscious. -
I would prefer a Crumpet of which I have brought my own. As for being Ponified I have more than enough experience with the subject. I simply choose not to declare it out right as its a rather private affair on my part. May I ask where this most venerable of establishments Known as "The Alley" is located?

And so far I'm the only one who thinks Nicrobursting People is worth having. Despite the fact that its a great way to mess with allomancers and prevent them from doing things.
