Night's cloak & heart of a beetle
Lord Tavash Shar replied to navybrandt's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well think about it. What are gemhearts? Sources of investiture. And we have a WoB that gemhearts structure and composition are just as important as there size for determining their power. Depending on the Beetle they might just end up being pretty powerful compaired to a normal gem. That said the great shells already remind me of Massive bugs so I don't think they will be stronger than those.......- 14 replies

Wayne is suspiciously good at imitation (Spoilers for AoL and SoS)
Lord Tavash Shar replied to LiquidBlue's topic in Mistborn
We know that Harmony made the Kolosis a True breeding species but the same has not been said for the kandra. Seems like a straightforward question to ask Brandon. -
I'm wondering where everyone is getting this Hoid cannot harm people from. The man basically admitted to being willing to let a whole world burn to accomplish his goals. Killing people is tame by comparison and may be necessary to accomplish his overarching goal. There is no way he would not kill people, he would just do it quietly.

Nicrosil Ferring metalmind filling question
Lord Tavash Shar replied to athosdebro86's topic in Mistborn
I really do not see how the MAG is completely or even partially untrustworthy in instances like this. The WoB that its cannon unless he specifically says otherwise is a pretty strong statement in its favor unless you have a WoB contradicting it. -
Random Speculation: The Genetic Metallic Arts are not Natural
Lord Tavash Shar replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Mistborn
Kolosis Blooded is a firm argument that over time repeated use of a hemalurgic spike changes the sDNA in your descendants. Also there is a WoB on the subject. I will look for it. -
Random Speculation: The Genetic Metallic Arts are not Natural
Lord Tavash Shar replied to WeiryWriter's topic in Mistborn
Its worth taking the time to categorize things that we know about the Metallic arts in order to facilitate this theories development. I'm going to start with what I think is the biggest thing that supports this theory: We know that Metal can be infused with the metallic arts investiture. From Feruchemy and Hemalurgy we know that metal's can "Hold" a charge. And while its different in the ways it is we can see how powerful the effects of investing items from Nightblood. We also know that Atium and Lesurim are specifically heavily invested and that there physical nature changes when they are invested heavily enough. While we cannot see how allomantic investiture in metals would "Work" mechanically in a system thats not Hemalurgy the idea both that it would be possible and or the more natural way to do it makes plenty of sense and considering to make the metallic arts we know required the direct touch of a shard while other systems do not have this function. It makes sense that this would be an exception rather than a rule on how to use it and possibly a back door exploited by the shard itself. It would make an interesting and rather stark contrast for the people of North Scadrial to meet the people of South Scadrial and find out that the genetic version of the metallic arts Do Not Exist in their population. How would both side feel to find the other. Would they see each other as freaks and anomalies? How would the north handle the thing give by birthright and chance being something that the people of the south can just pick and choose? -
Nightbloods whispering in his mind continued unabated. "Common, Were destroying Evil. They are just as much evil as the voidbringers." Syl just shuddered "They are not. They are humans and its our job to protect them from REAL evil. Not the thoughts in their heads but the deeds in the real world." Nightblood just hummed "And there thoughts don't become deeds? They are all evil inside."

I'm Going to note that several Epigraphs do not paint the KR as a force of what we will define as strictly "Lawful Good" Characters. Spoiler Case's In Point "There came also sixteen of the order of Windrunners, and with them a considerable number of squires, and finding in that place the Skybreakers dividing the innocent from the guilty, there ensued a great debate." "When Simol was informed of the arrival of the Edgedancers, a concealed consternation and terror, as is common in such cases, fell upon him; although they were not the most demanding of orders, their graceful, limber movements hid a deadliness that was, by this time, quite renowned; also, they were the most articulate and refined of the Radiants." "And when they were spoken of by the common folk, the Releasers claimed to be misjudged because of the dreadful nature of their power; and when they dealt with others, always were they firm in their claim that other epithets, notably “Dustbringers,” often heard in the common speech, were unacceptable substitutions, in particular for their similarity to the word “Voidbringers.” They did also exercise anger in great prejudice regarding it, though to many who speak, there was little difference between these two assemblies." I wish we had more text to give greater context to these but even without it we can see that there is a Fear of and some internal strife within the KR. The first is the most important to me at least considering the behavior of the "Skybreakers" we did see in WoR.

Connecting through Cyberspace: Duralumin in the Digital Age
Lord Tavash Shar replied to Kobold King's topic in Mistborn
This whole thing requires Communication in text at range to be a means of connection as much as talking to someone in close proximity to you talking. But can they be counted as the same? Or are they less? Are they more? Are they there own thing? and if so does it count as the type of connection that can be effected by personal connection? Feruchemy is an internal push on your ability to connect with others. But what does that really mean? Does your posture change? Your voice carry further? Does your mind speed up to articulate your opinions with greater gusto? Or does it expand nothing physical but your cognitive "shadow" for lack of a better word in shademer? Inflating it the same was your muscles inflate when tapping strength? We do not know what you're really storing when you store connection, Brandon has RAFO a lot of questions on this subject so I'm not sure we can come up with a definitive answer.- 22 replies

Connecting through Cyberspace: Duralumin in the Digital Age
Lord Tavash Shar replied to Kobold King's topic in Mistborn
Yes and no pathfinder. The thing is that right now all we know is how the storing and tapping works with people and in front of them. The question of whether or not the content of a work of writing would change by storing/tapping is going to be part of the answer here. But really we are so far down the Meta Physics whole with this idea that we are going to need 5 pounds of flax.- 22 replies

Connecting through Cyberspace: Duralumin in the Digital Age
Lord Tavash Shar replied to Kobold King's topic in Mistborn
This ties into the question of whether or not our interactions in virtual worlds can be qualified as real/meaningful relationships. Is the digital age making us more or less tied into each other? Would you qualify these posts on a message board or forum as real conversations between people? If not what are they? How do they fit into human interaction?- 22 replies

Adolnasium Needs to be Destroyed
Lord Tavash Shar replied to RawToast225's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Moggle tends to have some of the Best thought out arguments and the most humility when he can be proven wrong. It's also nice that if he cannot prove you wrong he will entertain your notion and even find things that you cannot seems to for the life of you that ether prove or disprove your point. I Prefer him to the moderators of some boards.- 8 replies

So long as you do not recognise the diabetes as part of you the effect of Feruchemical gold is always permanent when tapped. This would work for some one who JUST got diabetes but some one who had it all there life would not be cured. At least that is my take on it.
-
No I am actually suggesting training to increase ability while handicapping your self with Feruchemy in an effort to make the training for both your physical and feruchemical abilities at the same time. think an extreme form of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodyweight_exercise

It could also mean in the same way that some one can have multiple Hemalurgy spikes one could have multiple spren grafted onto there spirit web. It may put some interesting strain on the KR if there spren are of different orders.

Adolnasium Needs to be Destroyed
Lord Tavash Shar replied to RawToast225's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Doubtful. Magic is the function by which everything was created. You could defuse it but I double you could "Destroy" it. Whats more it would re condense over time.- 8 replies

Storing Bronze the Feruchemist becomes drowsy and storing enough will send them into a trans like state. This trans is not True sleep and the Feruchemist comes out of it nether more nor less tired then when it started. Its also worth noting that while storing in a bronze mind Other types of Feruchemy are disrupted and there traits cannot be stored, This is very similar to the disruptive effects of storing investiture in a Nicrosil mind. The other point on gaspers is actually one thing I noticed as well. Funny enough I have ideas about that. I would actually try to do physical training while storing the very attribute I was training. This would mean that as my physical ability advanced so to would my fulcrimic ability. You spend years Storing pewter while you have been training and no one will ever notice the increase so long as they do not see you asleep. Mean while you can get a suden "Boost" to your abilities simply by stopping your storing of an attribute. The same 10 pound weight/300 pound's of lift because you simply stopped storing.

Bronze would be amazing for people with Narcolepsy and Insomnia equally...... I had never thought of that.
