  1. I have actually wondered about being ABLE to pick up other shards. Sazed was only able to pick up to because he was "connected enough" to both. And a holders intent/personality etc is shaped over time by the shard they hold. Would someone who had held a shard a long tome be able to be connected enough to the other shard to pick up the power? May depend on the shards in question but I'd generally guess no.
  2. I think fanaticism would be devotion + ambition
  3. I am going to have to give this theory a lot of attention (when I saw the title I had to post here)
  4. I don't think the timeline matters here.
  5. Just a random thought on Adolin and the Edgedancer theory (i am actually not convinced but i do find it intriguing)... I will remember those who have been forgotten .... Like the very spren of his shardblade?
  6. For Renarin and Adolin there is also the possibility of losing their mother had something to do with it, we don't know enough about that yet. Not sure if the loss of Sureblood is enough to be "broken". You also had a previous "Warlord" father. We know Dalinar is a "good" guy now, but we also know he did not used to be.
  7. For Jasnah, wasn't there something in WoK that implied she had been attacked by men before (i vaguely remember some dialog between her and Shallan after Jasnah killed the men in the alley). Don't have the book here with me or i would check.
  8. One interesting note, I ran across this while rereading WoK. Shallan ( in response to Jasnah about "intelligence without ignorance" ) "A Mythological treasure, Brightness, much like the Dawnshards or the Honorblades. Certainly worth seeking but only with great caution" So apparently some others have heard of honorblades, there are legends about them for the Alethi
  9. Just because he was fighting with a spear would not rule out him having an unsummoned honorblade. Also i don't think the person that offered that as a possibility actually saw Kaladin with the spear so they may not have known specifically what weapon he was using. Edit : oops was Eshoni that said that about the honorblad
  10. I agree. If you recall there was also that bit about why Amaram killed Kaladin's remaining squad. Something like "Several people talking would be a problem, but one man with a slave brand would not be believed". So Amaram may actually feel safe even if he notices Kaladin. And I strongly suspect that Kaladin wont trust Dalinar with the information due to a combination of his prejudices and the fact that Dalinar is friends with Amaram.
  11. Yeah I know ..... After having twins this is almost easy ....well maybe not but it certainly sounded good!
  12. I am actually on maternity leave until March 12 .... thankfully my new little one was born just late enough to stretch it out past WoR release. I normally would read this in a day, but with the new little one I am just hoping to make it through before I have to go back to work.
  13. Ditto ... Though I am holding out hope that they are not necessarily dead ..... could just be severely injured ............ hey i can hope cant i!?!
  14. Book needing now - March now - need book I was going to wait until March 1st to post this, but i figure it still works now
  15. Wasn't there a quote from Honor in the visions that said "most of these are scenes I have seen directly .... but this is one I fear will happen (in the last one)" .... seems to strongly imply that he was around during the Recreance .... although admittedly this could be one that he didn't see directly
  16. I found this ..... http://www.docstoc.com/docs/35772519/The-Liar-of-Partinel *Edit If your looking for the rewritten version its here (click on link at bottem of blog post) http://brandonsanderson.com/new-dragonsteel-chapter-one/
  17. True, but that does not rule out the possibility that something new could be found. Regardless of how smart he is (even on his best day) he does not know everything (otherwise he would not NEED the death chants information!)
  18. ..... out of curiosity I tried it in chrome and it works fine, but clicking quote button would not work in IE
  19. I couldn't get the "quote" to work ... @eveorjoy "March 4th: the day the WoR Forum goes dead" ....... The TRUE Desolation!
  20. Actually it may not be Sadeas that is the issue with winning a shardblade in a duel. Two points from some of the WoR chapters. Duels for shards are not common (see Adolin' duel) The "duelee" if you will, must accept the duel for shards. If I was a shardbearer and knew how good Sadeas is supposed to be no way would I duel him. Several places in the WoR pre release chapters talk about how they can get people to accept duels with Adolin for their shards Also all these people with shardblades are probably pretty good too, hence the reason they have them. I remember a quote somewhere that Dalinar had given plate/blade to the king to give out to the best warrior, since that is what is best for the kingdom. Making the assumption that Sadeas is better than them just because he is really good too may be incorrect.
  21. Actually has anyone considered Moash as the one who saved Kaladin? We don't know who Moash wanted to kill... it could be Amaram.
