  1. You expect a Didn't you read the epigraph about them?
  2. Thanks for the clarification on the box! Your friend is awesome. Also, please don't shoot me, Feather, but I think the example you gave is more on the reckless side. Yes, it was very brave of Ren to try to help, but it was also reckless, because he had no weapon or armor. I had set my mind so much on Renarin . Now that you pointed out his scholarly moments, I wonder how could I have missed them so completely.
  3. There was a corrupted spren in one of Dalinar visions and Unmade can be bonded, so Moelach could be an old Truthwatchers' spren gone bad. It doesn't control its own actions and now gives glimpses of the future to anyone around it, but instead of stormlight, it fuels its power with the energy (?) of a dying soul. Thus, Moelach isn't in control of its actions, and the glimpses are genuine.
  4. I was thinking more in the lines of how Adolin is said to basically look at any pretty lighteyed girl, yet he hasn't ever described even one random girl he passed by in his PoV.
  5. Lift wan't using Regrowth before her Interlude and Nale has been after her long before that, he said it himself he wasn't sure which order she'd be. Not that this disproves you, but I wanted to clarify.
  6. I know he's getting a book, but I hope Ren has more screen time in the next one as well. Is it safe to assume he'd survive the first SA half? Also, anyone remember him flipping a box in WoK?
  7. Yeah, I think we argued on this in another thread, so I'm not gonna start the same conversation here. He wanted to be a warrior and I wanted him to one, and I certainly didn't think of him as a scholar. Plus, he did a lot of brave things and my fan moment need no textual base anyway, but I just started the same argument I claimed I won't, so I'm gonna stop here
  8. May be it's because he doesn't expect such behavior from a Brightlady? I just fail to imagine a young boy in a camp full of whores to not be... um, curious enough to try. Anyway, I agree you're most likely right based on his behavior. For a character who is supposed to be a ladies man, Adolin certainly doesn't have that set of mind in his own PoV. I find it odd how little he thinks about girls in his chapters, whereas everyone constantly talks about the girls he's been going out with. Shallan and others note his eyes stray towards girls, yet in his PoV I don't remember him suddenly getting distracted by a girl. It just doesn't feel consistent to me.
  9. One depressed character is enough for me But yeah, he'll have some 'I'm the only non-Radiant in my family. Except Elhokar, but at least he's the king'. It's normal. I wonder if that'll harm his relationship with Renarin. I mean, his own brother has been hiding something so big from him. I'd be very hurt to learn my sister didn't want to confide in me on something that important and wonder what else she's not telling me... Anyway, back on topic: if not feeling the Thrill and following Dalinar's leadership is all the proof for Adolin's squireship, I am not convinced. Besides, it would be a step back for Adolin's development to be anyone's squire.
  10. Well, I haven't seen more than one or two people, who don't share the opinion Renarin's awesome. There are a few threads in WoR subforumon him (though with not so much flattering titles, I must admit) and several non-Renarin thread went off-topic in the direction of how cool he is. But there can't be too many threads about a great character. Exactly! I'm still not completely over him not being a whatever anyone says. How he ends up in WoR was reasonable, yet I felt a tiny bit of disappointment. I so wanted Ren to turn Sorry, I can't really restrain myself to not include anything WoR when talking about him. A serious question - does Renarin have a box he flips in WoK? I have completely forgotten this.
  11. Renarin gets little love? He's one of the fandom's favorite characters!
  12. Is a practice Shadblade a wooden replication of a real one or is it a protected Shardblade? Remember that this is pre-duel, and Kaladin hasn't encountered a screaming Blade yet, so it's natural he won't note if a Blade doesn't scream (like Shallan's, only then he started to understand the significance). At the training grounds Blades had only made him sick so far.
  13. Any death rattles there?
  14. Yeah, but I want Adolin to awaken his Shardblade! Uh, I don't want two books of whining, thank you. It'll be flat to explain Adoloin's skills with squire/nahel bond. Can't somebody just be a skilled swordsman? Else it'd look like nobody can't have any abilities on their own. It'll be like 'You're good at (something)? Oh, you Radiant!'.
  15. Kaladin met Tarah (or at least was in whatever relationship with her) after Tien's death and I assumed it all ended before he was enslaved, else he'd think differently in his inner dialogue. Well, at least that's the reasonable assumptions. Knowing Kaladin, he might as well think being enslaved counts as failing and leaving her. I'm gonna allow myself one off-topic sentence: I think Adolin already has some experience, because he refused the offer of the whore in Sadeas camp giving his father as the reason and didn't say he wasn't interested or anything. I somehow doubt Kaladin had romantic/sexual relationship with this Tarah, it feels like a red herring. She was a woman in Amaram's camp, most likely darkeyed, who Kaladin has held and failed (surprise, surprise! ), she didn't want him to kill himself training. So, she could have been motherly to him or I don't know. It's just Brandon is so careful to give is a few vague sentences that point towards them having a romance, but never saying it, that I started thinking the romantic assumption to be a red herring.
  16. Adolin claimed to feel the Thrill in her (or something), however that might have been related to her stormform or something else he mistook for the Thrill. Regardless, what makes you think Radiants and their squires don't feel the Thrill? I don't think it's canon, just speculation. edit: Also, he feels the Thrill only in Eshonai, nobody else, so I'd argue it's Eshonai who was different then, not Adolin.
  17. The Thrill is caused by one of the Unmade, thus not feeling it doesn't make one Radiant/surgebinder/squire and only shows Nergaoul wasn't present. I personally think Bondsmiths don't have squires, because they are supposed to unite everyone, not show any favoritism. Regardless, that wouldn't prevent Adolin from being Renarin's squire. However, I think Adolin is a very skilled warrior without stormlight on his side, at least I see no textual evidence for the opposite. edit: adding the Unmade's name
  18. It would be quite the coincidence that Lopen inhaled stormlight when other from Bridge Four did it as well. I can see your reasons, but I'm still in the squire camp. I'd love some Lopen/spren interactions, though. It would be hilarious.
  19. Why do you think Lopen is a Radiant rather than a squire?
  20. B-b-but how could you do that to your book! You were supposed to love it, look at it in awe, hold it gently, smell it, cuddle it, keep it safe, admire it and even wash your hands before you touch it! My heart aches just by looking at it. You, sir, must buy an ebook. Fixing covers with duct tape? Almighty above, take better care of your books, people, don't let it go that far! You book abusers, thinking you can do all you want with a book because you've paid for it. Books have feelings too.
  21. Those ideas are for two and Vin didn't express anything that made me think she'd be into it. Just because it's logical doesn't mean it happened. And Brandon saying 'yes, they did it' doesn't transport into in-book action. Since it's still so off-stage, it could have just as well not happened, because it makes no difference to the story and the text. Same with Dalinar and Navani. The hints are so subtle they could mean anything and nothing. It doesn't spice up the story or make it any less lacking sexual elements. Imo, if it's not spell out, it doesn't count. I understand Brandon's trying to hint for things he disapproves of on personal level, but come on. I'm sure he disapproves of murder as well, that doesn't stop him from writing it,s so why so subtle on other topics... edit: I don't want Brandon to go all GRRM or anything, but when we need WoB to be certain whether or not something happened, then it was way too subtle.
  22. When I read the first Mistborn trilogy, nothing gave the feeling there were sexy pre-marriage times between Vin and Elend (actually I don't remember anything more than a kiss between them, but whatever). As for Dalinar and Navani, what you refer to is so subtle, it's more in your imagination than in-text. The chapter you said to check starts with Dalinar and Navani hugging and him thinking how nice she smells, which proves nothing. He's such a prude I can't believe they'd done more than kissing.
  23. You are right, WoB has it the Oathpact is between Honor and the Heralds: source For some reason I used to think the canon was H and C.
  24. In Jasnah's prologue is: The drooling is from Lift's interlude: However, here Nalan could be meaning the new Prime when using 'he', not Jezrien. Anyway, I like your theory. But then where is the real Taln, is he not back yet? Also, I'm not sure I see the connection between Jezere restoring his honor and him pretending to be Taln. If the Heralds become twisted versions of themselves, shouldn't Jezrien be doing something worthless, misguiding and anti-protecting? Or do you argue Jezrien is different from Shalash and Nale? Why not both? edit: What does the 'Gift' not-Taln was think of then? He sounds like more than a guilt driven individual. Also, it might be coincidence, but both Kalak and not-Taln use the same sentence in their inner dialogue:
  25. On it's own, I wouldn't find either convincing, but both settled it. I should have said it adds up nicely with your previous post about the firemark and ruby's essense and thus I no longer see a reason to argue otherwise. Sorry if I offended you! Also, thanks for taking your time to explain the conversation, I was really lost there.
