I do not believe that hoid shattered the shard......because if you pay attention in the WoR, in the letter part, that the friend (master of the 17th shard) mentions to hoid that 'Rayse desired the shard of hatred', specifically-"He bears the weight of God’s own divine hatred, separated from the virtues that gave it context. He is what we made him to be, old friend. And that is what he, unfortunately, wished to become."(chapter 71-Vigil). So, it is almost impossible that hoid himself shattered adonalsium-the more probable theory is that he was part of the team, that included rayse, who took it upon themselves to shatter or destroy adonalsium for some reason they believed to be righteous, but later on, after the other members of the team picked up the broken shards and acquired there current persona, hoid came to the conclusion that what they did was wrong or incomplete, and so is currently pursuing his goal..........the final end of the cataclysm that he and his friends started.

In case of the 'warbreaker' setting, I believe that the snapping happens when a person dies and then comes back to life. The breath is a tiny investiture that is inherently present in all, and it may be so that the local shard has lifted up the threshold of the investiture a little bit, which ensures that the people always posses some investiture, starting with their one breath, which can be augmented to a slightly higher level by taking other people's breath. It is only the returned that truely differ from the normal norm, which leads me to believe that theirs is the 'true investiture', undergone after the traumatic experience of death. Also, in case of sel, it might be that the snapping threshold is very low. Given the fact that harmony has made the threshold quite low on scadrial, it might be that the 'shaod' is an agent or entity created by devotion to ensure that the snapping might happen in an orderly manner, without much spiritual upheavel.

I think this is an interesting theory, except for the fact that we cannnot compare the bonding of the shardblades to hemalurgy. I remember that at the end of one of the mistborn book, in the ars arcanum (most probably by hoid), was a passage on hemalurgy, that specifically stated that the point of insertion of the rods were very important 'spiritually'. I think, keeping up with the whole 'spren' concept-people who are in close contact to sprens, or their bodies(dead) are more susceptible to odium's influence (remember thrill that the shardbearers feel in battle). this also gives credence to the theory that has been stated on this thread.

This is a prevelant theme in the cosmere, that a person can only use the powers given by the local shard(i.e. investiture), when he is spiritually broken, or that his spirit is broken-Like the snapping in mistborn.

Does any of you have any idea to which order might lopen belong to? i.e. is there any supposed theory about this. I am bringing this up because I remember reading in the words of radiance that the 'willshapers', as a whole, were decidedly odd, only joined by there common love for oddity and adventure. Also, I know i am supposed to post this in some other thread, by I am lazy...............Does anyone of you have any idea about the next Brandon Sanderson release date, and the book that will be released.

I keep coming across talks about how two new metals are left to be revealed, but I have my confusions regarding this matter! Is this statement made in reference to harmony's statement in the 'words of founding', because I believe that chromium bendalloy were discovered only after the trilogy, and the two metals might refer to these two metals! Or is this statement made in reference to miles 'hundredlives' last words: 'One day, the men of gold and red, bearers of the final metal, will come to you. And you will be ruled by them.'???
