  1. Part of the healing done by stormlight is based on how the individual sees themselves, similar to how the awakened in warbreaker appear how they wish to appear. Brandon has said that the reason Kaladin's slave brands don't heal is because he sees that as a part of himself. In the same way, if The Lopen believes he should have an arm and is being infused with stormlight, the arm will grow back. True, this is all speculation at this point but it seems likely based on Brandon's comments about Kaladin's brand that the arm could regrow just by using stormlight. It wouldn't need the regrowth surge.
  2. Edgedancers don't consume food for stormlight, only lift does. It's a unique boon/curse (don't know which) she received from the night mother. Edit: the quotes that tell us this if you were interested:
  3. Liftopen. Really want to hear those converstions.
  4. Not much to add about the order connections but the Kaladin/Lift ship would definitely be entertaining. Talk about opposites. Though I'm still holding out for Lopen/Lift. Those two would be all sorts of hilarity together, possibly deserving its own spinoff.
  5. Harmony is currently the only combined shards we know of. I don't know where it was but Brandon has stated Harmony is the strongest in raw power as a result but the mixture of the two intents creating Harmony prevents him from acting much. It is likely other shard combinations would be more... effective... but it's all speculation until other shards have been combined.
  6. For the most part, the books have been published in a chronological order. As you said, though, most of them do not overlap too much story wise so except for maybe reading warbreaker before the WoR, you can read them in whatever order you'd like and won't be at a loss.
  7. Nice work, looking forward to seeing the rest. I especially liked the answer about there being big clues both in WoR and Elantris about how Hoid world hops.
  8. Ah yes, shayamalan syndrome. So sad. (Though in his case it's a bit more than an ounce less)
  9. Perhaps on a sunny afternoon when preventing a chasemfiend's foot from stomping a king into a gooey pulp?
  10. “I don’t talk to myself because I’m crazy.” “No?” “I do it because I’m awesome.”
  11. Seems to me forgetting his wife could be the boon and the curse. "I'd like to not feel the pain of losing my wife." "Shazam! You won't feel the pain anymore because you don't remember her at all." As for knowing the 2nd ideal, I'd agree that aspiring KR's seem to inherently know them once they get to a certain point but there is also the fact that Dalinar essentially has the WoK memorized and the ideals are listed in there.
  12. Brandon said at the March 11th signing that there are only a few types of birds on roshar with chickens being by far the most common because they are a domesticated food source. Because of that, chicken is synonymous with bird for them. So, as the parrot example shows, just because they say chicken, doesn't necessarily mean they are talking about a chicken, could be any type of bird. Edit: Also, as Aminar said, there are lots of indications that humans are not native to Roshar. It is likely when they came to Roshar they brought their domesticated animals with them such as horses, chickens, etc. which is why there are only a few types of earth recognizable animals around. Bunnies probably didn't make the trip.
  13. Or just that he was an angry, hateful man so it was his odium that was destroying the family
  14. Unless you have a WoB about this, I don't think this is 100% fact. Perhaps they wouldn't be bonded the same way but they might be able to join the Radiants. From the Houston signing: The way he answered it (I heard it first hand) sounded like he was hedging and he put emphasis on saying historically they weren't made Radiants and didn't say they couldn't be.Edit: oh no! I'm the broken one now. Nor sure I'm evil enough to play that role
  15. For all those that keep asking who Khriss is, Peter commented in another thread that she is from the unpublished story White Sand.
  16. Pattern specifically tells Shallan that she only says the first ideal. That Lightweavers progress by speaking deep truths.
  17. It's discussed in the Answers from the Houston signing thread: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6743-brandons-answers-in-houston-311-signing/?p=109965 And as diamond said, it's a previously unknown character. We didn't even know how to spell it.
  18. You can't rank all of them exactly that way but yes the windrunners have five ideals so that would be a valid way to rank Kaladin. Other orders, such as the Lightweavers having to speak truths, makes the ranking a little more difficult for them so I should have said Kaladin is a third level windrunner rather than a third level radiant.
  19. Honestly, I looked at the epigraphs for the other orders but didn't even think about looking back at the one for lightweavers because we saw so much of them with Shallan. I see now what you mean about their buffing the army's morale. I still think espionage will be part of their skill set but I like your idea of them starting in that and the higher level members supporting morale. They actually then would fit more in the propaganda role.
  20. Yeah, I know, but I was really running out of ideas for roles and had no idea how that ability would specifically be used within the overall group so just went with the sound of their name
  21. I like the sound of Air Cavalry for the windrunners That's actually more what I was thinking but for some reason the word demolitions kept coming to mind Their ability to see the future and the description of them being very secretive about their information and motivations screams intelligence agency to me. I picture them as the KR's CIA. Not sure why you'd say her espionage isn't KR-ish. It wouldn't sit well with, say, the windrunners but each order has its own morals. If it wasn't KR-ish, shallan would soon find herself without a spren. As Shallan demonstrates, the lightweaver abilities are too perfectly suited for espionage for them to be wasted on anything but that role. Agreed
  22. They could have just been two different versions of the same symbol. The one described as wings could be the regular windrunner glyph: The second could have been the version where the glyph is the pommel of the sword:
