  1. Parshendi sending Szeth is a tough sell. Even when they assassinated Galivar, had they not claimed fault, most people would've assumed that the parshendi were used to just get the assassin into court, and the real mastermind was somewhere else. This time around the parshendi aren't claiming the blame, and the fact is that it's been six years since szeth last showed up. Had the Parshendi have still had szeth in their employ, why wasn't he used more often against the Alethi who were at the front gates of the Parshendi? there are just a lack of evidence that would force the Rulers of Roshar to assume it was the Parshendi. That and I'm pretty sure that Taravangian, had been planning to kill off many of the rulers well before he may heard of Jasnah's research. Szeth just happened to be the best tool that could accomplish his goal.
  2. But on a more serious note, I can actually see Sedeas attracting a spren. Now hear me out here, surgebinders have to be a huge advantage for Honor and Cultivation, what's to stop Odium from having his own surgebiners that have bonded with spren that ally with him? If so, then I can totally see Sedeas, forming a bond to try and gain power.
  3. if we're doing thought constructs, say you're friends with this person, but you find out he's going to do something horrible, which is more honorable, staying with you're friend out of loyalty or stopping him from doing whatever he plans on doing anyway you can.
  4. Yeah I don't believe the listeners are immortal, Eshenoi mentions the following
  5. Adolin would never give Kaladin over to Sadeas for two reasons. Adolin's hatred for Sadeas, will always outweigh his dislike of Kaladin. The only exception I can see is if Kaladin killed Dalinar himself, at that point kaladin has worse things to worry about then being sent back to Sadeas. Adolin also is not a bad man; foolish, young and impetuous perhaps, but not a bad man. Kaladin's failure to protect Dalinnar might provoke Adolin to do something stupid, but it would never be spiteful enough to give a man that actively tried to help the kholins, to a man that actively tried to destroy them.
  6. I don't think that Jasnah will die(well not immediately), because as others said, she still provides a great way for Sanderson to pass on knowledge. Some people of said that Jasnah not being with Shallan during the journey through the shattered plains; but it's also likely she chooses to stay to help her brother maintain control of the highprinces. It seems that Dalinar relied upon her quite the bit when she was last in court, and keeps wanting her back, her coming back might even be what allows him to take direct charge of the army, and push out.
  7. Actually I want to say that order 10(bondsmiths) is 100% honor, and order 5 is 100% cultivation.
  8. Hmmn I hadn't thought of there being more messages, makes sense; and it ties well with the theory that Dalinar might be the one writing the messages, as a side affect of either the visions he sees/possible nehel bond.
  9. I'd love to see a family portrait of kaladin when he was young, with his brother and parents, or maybe something with all the kholins in a single place. Your work is great by the way.
  10. There's one thing I'd like to point out, the popular theory is that Darkness is a herald, would the same exact rules of the KR apply to him, if he was in fact a herald. Should we treat anything that he does as an ability of the KR.
  11. True they don't have to share the ideals, and I honestly do feel like the Cryptics care more about whatever agend they have than saving people, that however is baseless on my part. Nodahan's creating the ideals to serve as a bottleneck, is a very interesting theory, I wonder how he set that up.
  12. I'd also like to point out that Shallan is also incredibly smart, and would be a benefit the kholin family for her to join.
  13. The old, lawful good vs neutral good dilemma. Honestly if it wasn't for the first Ideal, I'd say the Cryptics are true neutral in nature
  14. Amaram seemed to be allied with Galivar before his death, somehow I don't think Amaram changed sides, for the duel to happen that way, but then again, there's still time for that in this book.
  15. For the record, T isn't thought of as a "retard," he's thought of as a coward but of average intelligence. In fact I think it's the fact that he's a coward, and doesn't want war that make people really look down on him, rather than his intelligence level. I was actually thinking he was related to whatever side Amaram is on. We see Restares in the scene where kaladin is betrayed, and we find that he's a stormwarden. Kharbanth, seems to be a center for stormwardens, with Taravangian employing for his "secret" project. It's likely that Restares was sent to Alethkar in the first place. Kabsal seemed to be afraid of being seen by Taravangian, as if he wasn't hired by T to be apart of the ardentry or just to kill Jasnah.
  16. You know something, did shallan ever actually see the Cryptics? I remember her seeing them through her drawings; and calling them up at the very end. If so how is Elhokar seeing the spren then?
  17. The thing is a case can be made that she was attracted to him well before he refused the shardblade, but the act of it helped form a stronger bond.
  18. Hmmn I don't know if I believe that bonding is what opens up a spren to corruption, but there may be something to the parshmen shutting themselves off to bonding, to prevent being bonded with a corrupt spren. OMG, Galivar getting killed by the Parshendi for trying to revive the Knights Radiant. We already know that Darkness seems to believe that the resurgence of surge binding could lead to another desolation, what if the Parshendi had similar beliefs.
  19. People go read the book synopsis found on Audible, it references shallan to be tasked to look for Urithiru in the shattered plains.
  20. D Lol it sounds like who ever wrote this is channelling skar. I want to stick to Teft's statement of kal still not a full knight radiant. Forget that however, Shallan is mentioned to be trying to look for Urithiru in the Shattered Plains! That's huge!
  21. Can you get this combined with a kindle version, so I can listen in the car, and read on my phone.
  22. from what I recall from the prologue in WoK, Galivar had blue armor, and Elhokar is mentioned to have gold armor. I also recall Dalinar mentioning that he won two sets of armor in the shattered plains, one of which Elhokar is now using, the other being presented by Elhokar to someone that was worthy.
  23. Yeah that tactic would only work if you can insure that you'll win. Right now Sadeas has way to much military might, as well as political support. A better target would be somebody that is opposing you, but in middling in might. It's who to target after, that's interesting. A message that you mean business needs to be sent, but that might drive alot of people to stick to the side, and only jump in when there's a clear winner. This may be useful because it gets some of the pressure off your back, but at the same time if too many highprinces go into this group, you may not find enough support. Instigating something with one of those neutral parties might be necessary to proceed forward, but that could seriously risk all of highprinces banding together to take you down. What I wonder is what even happened to Galivar's set of shard?
  24. I don't think Ivory is a Cryptic. I say this because whenever Jasnah used that term she had referred to Shallan's spren. Ivory is considered a traitor to his own clan of spren, which I believe aren't named yet. I think he's considered a traitor because he's not being wise and careful by forming a bond with Jasnah. I doubt he'd give her false knowledge knowingly, but your right there may be some minor rivalry between the Cryptics and whatever clan of spren Ivory is.
  25. So am I the only one that thinks that the insect thingy on whallens painting of shallan, her spren. Oh man I really wonder if dalinar will offer a set to kaladin, and if amaran will be around for it.
