QF25: Cycle 10 "Well, that is not what I was expecting," Someone said looking down at the two bodies laying on the tap room floor. "Him," she said pointing at Jace, "I knew about. We agreed on that one. However..." She trailed off looking at the other stunned faces around her. "Did anybody see or hear anything strange last night?" Another patron asked. "Actually, yeah," the person who's room was next to Ripple said. "I would have sworn I heard some yelling out in the hall but every time I check there was nothing there." "It was probably coming from the room below you," the young woman dismissed him. Except there weren't any floors, the person thought. Shrugging, he sat down to enjoy a bit of breakfast. Cycle 8 It was a quiet night for the inn. Even the tap room only saw a couple of people come down for their meals. One person was work in the middle of the night by muttering voices, but when he stepped into the Hall there was no one there. "Must've been in a nearby room," they thought. As they fell to sleep though a new idea churned through their mind. "And it might work," they thought as they drifted off. No one died! Player List1. Haelbarde - Horatio Heatherlocke2. Cycle 7 “Well, he was really loud,” someone said the next morning as they looked down at the body. If an outsider had come to Red’s at that point, they would have been horrified by the casualness with which the patrons viewed the death of Shadow. The deaths and strangeness of everything had worn them down to the point that they could simply stare and wonder. “Anyone willing to say they did it?” Another voice asked, glancing around. He was met with a wave of shaking heads. “Thought not.” No one was lynched! Bard has died! Player List1. Haelbarde - Horatio Heatherlocke2. Darkness Ascendant - Necrosis Jones3. QF26: Stop the Madness, Cycle 6 The sun broke over the Red Herring and there was a feeling of tentative hope in the air. Each guest was accounted for, which meant the madness might have finally stopped. Toward evening, the hope was dashed. “I don’t think it’s done yet. I think it’s laying low, hiding. It’ll still kill us,” a voice shouted. Instead of the shouts of agreement he expected though he got side glances and motions for him to keep his head down and mouth shut. Going from table to table he was meet with the same resistance. “Fine, if none of you will do it, I will!” he shouted. Pulling out a dagger he plunged it into the Silver fellow who had been much too silent for his comfort. Roadwalker was lynched! Player List 1. Haelbarde - Horatio Heatherlocke 2. QF26: Stop the Madness, Cycle 5 The tap room was quiet the next day as everyone tried to recover from the extreme violence of the last few days. “So many dead,” someone muttered. Note: I'm now assisting fRR with this game, so please include me (and Orlok, who's your IM) in PMs and don't be alarmed if I PM you. Also, we're going to try to move this game to a more consistent time, probably 9 a.m. MDT / 12 p.m. BST. Given that, the cycle is extended 19 hours, until tomorrow morning: -
MR24: Cycle 5 - Guns and Knives It took a while for Cranium to abandon his Quantum Shooter for a smaller gun he stole from one of the corpses. There were rival epics to kill! He could always build another Quantum Shooter. He was, after all, a genius. He reached the fight just as Balelight was killing another Epic. “Blathering irritates me. And as far as I can tell, the enemies to my rule have still not been found. Let this be a lesson to you all. Every time that you do not bring me a suspect or kill them yourselves, someone in this city will die. Perhaps many people. Do not test me.” The Epic that was in Balelight's grip collapsed onto the ground. Cranium's head jerked left and right. All around him there was chaos. Who should he go after first? Starshatter spoke up from the edge of the fight. "Hey you! You seem suspicious." She pointed to Cranium. "I don't want Balelight killing me! I say we kill that guy." A chorus of agreement followed. "Gah!" Cranium shouted, pointing his gun at Starshatter. Why was everyone going after him? There used to be a time where he could attempt murder in peace. But before he could do anything, time froze around him. "It would be inconvenient if Balelight decided to kill me," Mark said. Cranium would've jumped if he could move. He didn't even notice this quiet man before. But it turned out the quiet man had quite a big weapon. One that he held up with no trouble at all, as if it was almost floating off the ground. Underneath it were circular objects that let out a faint glow. Mark fired his shot, and Cranium flew backwards as it hit, time suddenly restarting. He landed on the ground, and the air flew out of his lungs. Huh. That was interesting. Anti-gravity mechanics on a weapon. I should add that to his Quantum Shooter, Cranium figured. He had never come across those before. Such a wonderful invention. Maybe there was more inspiration to be found in the world that so cruelly accused him of being a mad man. Cranium thought that maybe he should roam around outside of his lab- and outside of his head- more often. Then his eyes closed, and they did not open again. “Balelight?” asked a girl. “It is an absolute pleasure to be of your acquaintance.” Balelight ignored her after that. She wanted a report, not someone trying to get close to her for their own gain. After a moment’s indecision, she turned her eyes on the girl. She didn’t need any more power-hungry Epics hanging around. Unfortunately, the girl dove and disappeared through some sort of portal. Pity. I’ll have to deal with her later. Her knife flew out at Balelight as the portal closed, and Balelight arched an eyebrow. Did the girl know nothing? The knife bounced off harmlessly, of course, and Balelight turned her attention to others. Out of another such portal, an Epic appeared, this one with only a single eye. It took him some time to notice her, floating above him as she was, but he seemed remarkably casual. She didn’t pay much heed to him, though, until he took out another minor Epic, one she’d had in her court for quite some time. Balelight smirked as he pulled out actual weapons, as if those would do anything to her. “Your move, White Queen.” She’d always liked that name. “You seem to have an interesting skillset. I will give you a choice, Epic. Run, now, and vanish into one of those portals, or serve me. I give you an hour to decide.” “And if I run?” the Epic challenged. “You die as soon as I lay eyes on you again,” Balelight said, smiling. “I trust that this situation,” she gestured to the mess of people below, “will be taken care of properly, and I shall be disappointed if I find that it is not.” With those words, she ascended back through her shaft of light. A disturbance would not sour her flying. Later... Starshatter and Birdrider were flirting, as per usual, when Birdrider flinched. “Are you alright?” Starshatter asked. Birdrider didn’t respond. Instead, she slowly, gently began tipping over, and crumpled to the ground. “Birdrider!” Only then did Starshatter see the bullet in the back of Birdrider’s head. “No,” Starshatter said numbly. “No. No.” She raised her hands, bringing the full force of her powers to bear. Lava began bubbling up all around her, turning the ground into a patchwork of molten rock and scorching heat. This lasted until a second bullet took her between the eyes. Impulse ran, and ran, and ran. Someone had been coming with a knife, almost so close that he would’ve actually made it. But Impulse had noticed. The poor guy probably thinks I’m invisible and is still hunting for me, he laughed to himself. He passed shops and taverns, even cutting through a few so fast that no one even noticed the doors opening and closing. He passed between a couple dancing under Calamity’s light, shaking his head at them, and finally arrived in another alleyway. It was far from the previous one, and he started fiddling with one of his devices again in the quiet of being alone. The knife hit him in the back of the neck. But- but… His last thought flickered out. Winter Devotion has died! They were the Epic Lavalake, and a member of the Epic Cabal, with powers of Lava Summoning and Liquid Transmutation! Flash has died! He was a Black Market Arms Dealer! with 2 Performance Enhancing Drugs and Sedatives! Mint was lynched! She was a Lover with a Mobile, a Video Recording Chip, and Handcuffs! Vote Count >Mint (3): Mark, Eternum, Arin Cycle 5 has begun. You have 47 hours to send in actions and to vote. PMs are still being sent out. There, Balelight removed from the picture. So, yes, I did have a great deal of fun with this game. While I was annoyed at my situation, the rest of the game by far made up for thta. (Though I'm sad that I didn't get to send my 100-PMs-in-an-hour, since it got too annoying. ) I think the issue I had with this situation is twofold. One, the incentive here is for the SK to kill all of the elim team as fast as possible, because so long as the SK is alive the village still can't win. So I disagree that it harms the village just as much, and certainly not at first. Secondly, it was the fact that Drought was hit, through me. He didn't enter Zeta, so the elims didn't even know it was possible for him to switch alignments. If they're given fair warning, maybe - Orlok was certainly suspicious of me for a while. But until I told him, no one was at all suspicious of Drought because he hadn't entered Zeta. How could he have changed? If I were only in contact with Drought and none of the rest of the evil team knew about me or knew my identity, they would have had no way of knowing what was coming, and so no way of fighting back. Also, it's just that I dislike converted elims in general. It's been tried before (LG26 with Paalm, MR17 with Elenion, LG29 also with Elenion), and never turned out terribly well. Anything that compromises the eliminators is something of a problem, because the point of an eliminator team is that they have more information and perfect communication. (That was already somewhat gone in this game because of the Engineer, by the way, which was also very irritating - it brings to mind Burnt in LG33, spying on you, Aonar. That was very definitely the last time I'm ever doing doc spying, because I disliked it so much.) Giving them a traitor is just... not fun, in my opinion. Though it turned out just fine this time. Also, no one complained about the odds of Zeta switching alignments because it was very obviously not made explicit what alignment they'd be switching to, and I think everyone essentially assumed that it wouldn't be just Court/Forest. Anyway. Despite that whole issue I still greatly enjoyed the game, and it didn't turn out badly as things went. I think it could have, but it fortunately didn't.

Eternum isn't quite correct. She has air manipulation and can shoot lasers out of her eyes, yes. She is also a High Epic in charge of the city. What else she can do is as yet undiscovered. If Seonid doesn't, I very well might tomorrow morning. It seems I have been given cause to, certainly.

This comment is from the dead doc, though there were others further down - let me clarify a few things. One, I was the Wandering Eye. I literally could not die through lynch, kill, taking the Test, or anything else (except the GMs modkilling for sending too many PMs ). My win condition was to survive and win with Drought. (If Drought died, that win con changed to opposing whoever killed him.) (Side note: This made the game really, really really fun. I played without really caring about being suspicious, and pretty much only played to have fun. This is something that I'm sure will carry over into future games, and was wonderful to experience. Thank you to Joe and Aonar for that. ) So, I told Orlok this N1 (through a relatively painless claiming process - though it revealed that he was evil, and so the reason I sent so many PMs is so that I could talk freely with Orlok without fear of discovery by the Engineer), and discovered that he was evil and so was Drought. In essence, I was a fourth eliminator with limited communication. Which was really nice, since Drought and Shqueeves were mostly inactive for most of the game. N2, I went into the Zeta dimension, and Lopen increased my chances of being converted. Which, it turns out, I'm immune to, so the spiders kind of fell off of me and went onto Drought instead, even though he wasn't Zeta, converting him to the win condition of being alive with Zeta and no other players at the end of the game. (I didn't know this until N3, when I was able to communicate with Drought. I knew my win con had changed, but because it was technically functionally the same I didn't get to know. Drought had to tell me his new one.) That night, Orlok (since he was a Witch, and it was a meeting) scanned Jondesu, and found out that he was an elim in the Forest, by the way. He thought there was no chance of failing because Shqueeves (the Etheric Scientist who could remove failure chances) had targeted him, but apparently Shqueeves didn't put in the order and the scan turned false. D3, Lopen was lynched, and Drought's win condition became impossible. N3, I found out about all of this, and Drought was willing to work with the eliminators he'd previously been a part of. Given that he now had a kill, this was useful. I killed Stink that night, out of fear that Stink would reveal us the next day, because he knew about Orlok and myself and had already shown himself to be displeased with our kills. Also, we knew that we were reaching endgame by then. (Rand, I knew Stink's win con since N1, since he told Orlok and Orlok told me. I don't even remember what PM you're referencing.) I also PMed Eternum, the new medium, that night and told him to kill Jondesu, which is why he did so. It's rather unfortunate that Orlok's scan failed when he didn't think it would. >> That was also a ploy to get him to out me to this thread, potentially, but he never ended up doing so. (I was trying to accrue suspicion all game. I would be a terrible Jester.) D4, Drought was made Medium, and we hammer-voted Clanky because we thought that the numbers were such that we could win. My only worry, and the reason I asked Aonar directly in thread about Drought, was that Drought's win con would change to something that he could actually succeed with, thus removing himself and me from the eliminator team. I wasn't fond of that idea for a number of reasons. N4, I found out that Drought in fact did have a different win con - to make peace through killing literally everyone. So, a SK. I considered helping with this win condition, which was potentially achievable, but ultimately decided not to for a variety of reasons (mainly, discomfort with how broken it is for a member of the eliminator team to be converted and able to betray them, particularly without them even knowing that was possible since he never went into the Zeta dimension). I ultimately sided with Orlok, made Drought think that I'd help him tie the game even though I wasn't willing to kill everyone (sorry about that, Drought - I was initially genuine, and then realised how much Orlok didn't want to tie and agreed that the eliminators deserved a win if they could pull it off), and killed him that night as he killed Burnt (which hit Asterion, since Asterion was a Teleporter) and Orlok hit Drake. D5, obviously, we attempted to lynch Araris, but failed because Shqueeves, Polking, and Chaos were all inactive. >> N5, similarly, Flash was Medium but was inactive, so never made me Dragonslayer nor put in a kill (and I couldn't, I don't think, because I was never actually evil). If he had, I believe the game would've tied or we would've won, though I'm not certain which. Also, in explanation of my own win/loss, I created a paradox with myself. My win condition was for Drought to survive and win. I killed him. My second win condition was to oppose whoever killed him, which was me, so I oppose myself and want myself to lose, which I have, so I win? Et cetera. Which I knew would happen, and amuses me greatly. More thoughts may come, but that should clear at least a few things up. Thanks to @A Joe in the Bush and @Aonar Faileas for running this game, and it was fantastic fun!

MR24: Cycle 4 - In Which Balelight Suffocates Someone The sky was dark above Balelight’s city. Above the clouds, though, the sky was bright and blue. Balelight allowed herself a rare smile. On a whim, she cast her gaze downward, burning a hole through the clouds and anything that happened to be beneath them. Lasers pierced the clouds and struck the ground beneath, which Balelight recognised as near the hospital. She descended slowly through the clouds in the shaft of sunlight she’d created, like a goddess from the heavens. Her eyes were met with chaos. Indistinctly, through the rain, she could see fighting and the glow of what looked like a forcefield, although most of it was obscured by mist. “What is this,” she said, voice amplified by the air around her. She began to gesture a wave of air to push away the rain obscuring her way, but was stopped by a voice. “Balelight! Balelight,” gasped Stormwarden. “I didn’t do this, it isn’t my fault, I don’t know what’s going on, I came and found you as soon as I could-” She tried to continue talking, but no sound came out. Balelight brought down the fist she’d made, holding the air in Annabelle’s lungs. “Hush,” she said, entirely unnecessarily. “Blathering irritates me. And as far as I can tell, the enemies to my rule have still not been found,” she said, amplifying her voice again. “Let this be a lesson to you all. Every time that you do not bring me a suspect or kill them yourselves, someone in this city will die. Perhaps many people. Do not test me.” Stormwarden fell to the ground. Balelight ignored her, stalking toward the commotion that had occurred earlier and pushing away the rain in an expanding wave as she did so. “Now, would anyone care to tell me what, exactly, is going on here?” Hissss. This is the sound of water superheating. Plop. This is the sound of a girl falling into a puddle of lava. Aieeeeeee. This is the sound of Altea Meza’s scream as she burns to death in said puddle. Lemonelon was killed by Balelight’s wrath! She was the Epic Stormwarden, with powers of Chain Lightning and Windform, and part of the Epic Cabal! Crimsn has died! Vote Count: No one voted on anyone. You say "the rest of my team" and then claim you're not an eliminator? I'm not exactly sure how that's supposed to make sense.
