I would recommend Elantris/The Emperor's Soul first, so that you don't get spoilered by accident while looking around. Rithmatist isn't mentioned so often, and Wheel of Time just takes so long to get through.

Hi! Have you read Brandon's other shorts? I always recommend Defending Elysium, which is one of my favorite of his works. Obligatory warning: DO NOT ACCEPT THE COOKIE. Welcome!
-
There were three. The first one, and then the one about her son (Charles?) and South America, and then the one about her daughter (more importantly, Oskan's daughter) and Oskan's evil grandfather. That one was a bit weird.

To be fair, I missed the Freer bit until I looked it up. And you got "Cry of the Icemark" right! It's been a while since I read those books, but I really liked them. Each one was very different from each other. [grammar isn't working for me tonight]

Adonalsium and God Beyond Speculation
Elbereth replied to Sharp of Wit and Blade's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Well, we don't know that Adonalsium was a god. I actually like to imagine that Adonalsium was just a regular human, who became pure soul or something and was shattered. I don't know. It's not a very well-formed thought yet. We also know absolutely nothing about the God Beyond, except that he's probably Cosmere-significant. He might be beyond the univers, or just beyond the stars or planets or some such thing. We know for a fact that there were only 16 Shards. However, some of the shards are missing pieces of their power, because they have invested those pieces in things like spren (in the case of Honor) and humans (in Preservation's case). -
Ooh! So many familiar princess names! The goose girl was Ani, I think. THAYET! Thayet is awesome. You're thinking of Thirrin Freer Strong-in-the-Arm Lindenshield, Wildcat of the North. She is also amazing. EDIT: I went as Galadriel, by the way.

I've been listening to two particular things. One is the music from Hamilton, which is really strange because I'm basically listening to rap about the stuff I learned in history class for AP US History. The other thing is that my sister just recently made me listen to 'A Musical', from Something Rotten!, which is absolutely hilarious to anyone who likes musicals and is my current favorite song.
-
Definitely Mistborn, I think. Stormlight Archive has some more in-depth stuff, but the original trilogy of Mistborn has the most you're going to get in the text of the books so far.

Because it's fun! And also impressive, I guess. I have memorized a lot of Tolkien's poetry by now, most of which is actually longer than this. I can memorize this in one piece, instead of doing it by stanza. Actually, what took the longest to memorize was actually the first 10 or so minutes of Fellowship of the Ring, which I can currently recite (with voices!). I like memorizing things. I'm thinking about memorizing a Sanderson thing, but I don't know where I want to start. Maybe with the Elantris prologue? EDIT: Just maybe? I actually wrote an entire paper on this, relating Beowulf (and other works from that time period) to Tolkien's work. It was kind of fun. Most of the poems I have memorized aren't so clearly shouting OLD ENGLISH EPIC POETRY HOMAGE as much as this one, because most of them are Elvish.
-
Well, that failed. I have bolded the parts that are now corrected. I have a ways to go.

If we're appreciating random poetry, here's what I'm memorizing right now: (from memory, so potentially partly wrong)From dark Dunharrow in the dim morning With thane and captain rode Thengel's son From Edoras he came, the ancient halls of the Mark-wardens mist-enshrouded; golden timbers were in gloom mantled. From hall and hearth, and the hallowed places where long he had feasted ere the light faded. Forth rode Theoden, fear behind him, fate before him. Fealty kept he: Oaths he had taken, all fulfilled them. From Folde and Fenmarch and the Firienwood, Six thousand spears to Sunlending, To mighty Mundburg under Mindolluin, Sea-kings; [something about a city] foe-beleaguered, fire-encircled. Forth rode the Eorlingas, [something] hoofbeats faded to silence; so the songs tell us. So, it's not very memorized yet, but to be fair, I started it in physics this morning and haven't worked on it since.

Not the will of a person as in their strength of will. As in, a Last Will and Testament of an emperor or something.
-
This isn't directly on topic, but it is another application of Forgery, and one of the most interesting I've thought of so far: You could Forge wills. It would be hard to hide, of course, but if you could disguise it as another seal, you could change the course of history with a single stamp.

Hi! You do exist! What are you reading right now?

Fixed.EDIT: YAY!

Elbereth replied to Delightful's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
I have something for you! I always enjoy seeing your posts on the Random Stuff thread. You're always quite funny.Delightful, you are really good at making other people feel happy and loved, and I really appreciate it. -
It is in fact an aon. It's the updated version in the 10th Anniversary edition, which is why it looks different than Curiosity's.Speaking of Curiosity's, 9/10 only because I like the old Aons less now that I've seen the new ones.

You Know You're a Sanderfan When...
Elbereth replied to Shardbearer's topic in General Brandon Discussion
I like it, though the formatting is a bit strange. Is that intentional? -
That sounds terrifying. I second the comment about write-ins. I had one last night, and I wrote 3000 words there. It was incredibly useful.EDIT: My name's limelleth on the forums.

Hi! Welcome! Those are the greatest and most terrible puns I have read all day. They are also the only puns I have read all day, but still... They're impressive.

Hi! Welcome to the 17th Shard! I'm guessing you know who Hoid is, despite your username, right?
