Was hoid behind the fall of the Lord ruler ?

We know why Vin avoided Hoid, from Secret History. So we don't have to guess about that. Other than that, agree 100% on everything you said.- 6 replies

Adonalsium- the deity of neutrality
RShara replied to Mushroom Catalog's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The names of the Shards are just a rough idea of the general facet of personality that's associated with their power. It's like the tip of an iceberg. So yeah, Odium could have an argument that he's not just Hatred, and there's probably a degree of truth to that. But to claim he is Passion instead of Hate is what I object to. I've stated my arguments on that and don't really want to derail the thread into that again, so I'm just going to leave it at the fact that I don't find his arguments compelling, and the other WoB we have on the matter say that he's lying to himself about what he is. Given he's freely threatened his own followers with destruction if they disobeyed him, I highly doubt that. -
Adonalsium- the deity of neutrality
RShara replied to Mushroom Catalog's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I'm pretty sure Adonalsium was a complete entity, with a full mind and personality, myself. We all have those drives and emotions in us--Ambition, Honor, Hatred, Love, etc. When he Shattered, those parts of him got divided out along with his power. Holding some of them, the way they are now, can cause conflicts in intent, but they were all originally part of a whole that held them in context, just like a normal person would. Edit: We also know that much of the cosmere and the life on the cosmere was created by Adonalsium. If he wasn't able to act, then he wouldn't have been able to create all of that. Look at the really incredible originality and craziness that is Roshar, which Adonalsium deliberately created for some specific purpose, as an example. -
They also haven't be raised sheltered from every source of learning experience and context. Vivenna gets almost-overwhelmed for a while after she first got her load of Breath.
-
And is that different than people of the 3rd Heightening, other than philosophically? I mean, look how Vivenna describes colors at her Heightening.
-
According to the Ars Arcanum, the 3rd Heightening is when the ability to see colors and discern variations peaks. We haven't been given any hint that higher Heightenings actually increase color perception beyond that point.
-
I don't think it has a big representation. We also see highstorms in the Cognitive, and they're not really visible there, either. So it doesn't sound like either storm has particularly strong Cognitive presences. So the Everstorm might cause a different sort of cloud coloration, but that'd be about it?

Small problem. Spook was ruling the northern continent for about 100 years, and Kelsier-in-a-body was down on the southern continent within ~10 years after the Catacendre.

Wow, @Karger necro? Didn't expect that. Edit: Oh I see. Linked here from another thread. Sneaky.

Roshar has a lot of free floating investiture just hanging around, which makes it easier to coalesce and become sentient. Also, a lot of them were created by Adonalsium before the Shattering. Other places don't tend to have enough free investiture to form into spren, and the Shards in those areas aren't interested in creating them. Seons and Skaze are basically spren. Remember that the definition of a spren, in Roshar terms, is just sentient (or sapient) investiture. Khriss says Ashyn is inhabited by sapient Splinters. I would call them Cognitive Shadows rather than spren, myself. If you consider Cognitive Shadows as spren (I don't) then the shades on Threnody could be considered spren (probably of Ambition). Her investiture was probably not contained in the CR, since there was no one around to do that--she managed to get away from Odium before she died and Splintered.

I doubt it's Odium, since he should still be bound to the Roshar system or is dealt with in the Stormlight Archive. It's most likely Bavadin. Also remember that the red haze was Sazed making a representation for Wax, not what the threat actually looks like.

How did ruin and Preservation create Scadrial
RShara replied to twenty second of the sun's topic in Mistborn
We don't know the exact answer. They could have simply created the mass from their investiture, which is what the books hint at, or they could have gathered the mass from various places and brought it together to form the planet. From the way the planet and the objects/people are described, I think the former is the most likely answer. -
@twenty second of the sun Very much the wrong forum to ask that. You'll probably want to hide or report it with a request to delete and repost in the Mistborn forum.

It might be. My point was, we don't actually know what she prefers.
-
Yeah she just doesn't like jam, not necessarily sweets in general.
-
Yes, that's why Jasnah had to soulcast Shallan's blood multiple times, and why Shallan woke up in a hospital room. Shallan had eaten the bread (where the poison was) and hadn't eaten the antidote since it was gone. So she got poisoned and Jasnah had to fix her blood to save her.
-
Jasnah thought the poison was in the jam, so she tried to Soulcast it away. Instead, she accidentally soulcast away the antidote, so eating it had no effect.

Nightwatcher is a Splinter. It's highly doubtful that she'd be limited to the surge of Transformation when granting boons. She can straight up rewrite people and object's spiritwebs without intermediaries.

DragonCon 2019 - August 29-September 2, Atlanta, Georgia
RShara replied to Pagerunner's topic in Events and Signings
Putting this here as a source Apple Ravioli: What would happen if you threw Nightblood into a perpendicularity? Brandon Sanderson: Bad things. Nightblood could collapse a perpendicularity. And separately: Brandon Sanderson: See, I like science, because you can be wrong with science. In SA4, you will have a character...a scientist..who appeared in the book we're talking about, talk about some of the things he got wrong. -
Remember that she gives what she thinks you should get, not what you asked for. But given that she's a Splinter, and apparently a very powerful one, I imagine she can mostly create things on the spot if she wants to.

That might just mean that Cultivation could get it, not that she has it lying around. Like, I don't think the NIghtwatcher has a pile of cloth sitting in a cave somewhere in case someone else asks for some.
-
I don't think so. We know where Nale, Ishar, Taln and Jezrien are/were. Kalak's the only one missing, and his insanity doesn't fit the beggar's version of insanity.

Do you mean summon a dead Shardblade or form a Nahel bond with a spren? And I assume you mean the singers, not the humans?
